went fishing there last week got skunked but will definitely be going back and getting further up the canyon. Any advice with presentations here? The fish were interested but not interested enough in my flies to bight. I was using a wide variety of rs2s as thats what flies n lies said was working.
@@CombatFlyFishing It was a pretty interesting morning. Definitely got there early enough to park! Not knowing the trail system and just winging it, me and my dogs scrambled quite a bit, which is nothing new for us. Plenty of fisherman and plenty of stunning views along the way! I found out one of my dogs loves the water and she jumped right in. I'm not much for fishing, but fly fishing just looks peaceful and relaxing. Thanks again for a great video from a non fisherman's perspective!
I’ll be in Denver on the 4th for a week and I’m planning on checking out the canyon. Any tips on what flies are producing this time of year? And how the water flow is?
You're best bet is to stop by Flies & Lies in Deckers for the latest news. As far as flows go, you can find a the USGS river flow link on my website on my Cheeseman/Deckers page at combatflyfishing.com
Combat fishing is right , I'm a native of Colorado and it's really sad what's happened here in my state, I fished the south platte back in late 70's and to mid 80's . then it started to become combat fishing, The fish now are conditioned to all the pressure, a lot of fish have been caught more than once, I can say I have fished this river when it was a real challenge, a true river of wild trout, I also fished the south platte between Spinney and Eleven Mile , now called The Dream Stream, I fished this before its was called the Dream Stream, The so called guides can never know or experience what what I did Fishing the South Platte, I said bye to the river about 25 + yrs ago.

I'm going this weekend to hike the trail with my dogs. No fishing will be done unless one of my dogs decides to try it out lol Good video btw!
No doubt the you and the pups will have a good time. Take care and thanks for watching. -Tim

Kevin Abney I’m glad you got out there. It’s one of my favorite places.

Is cheesman canyon fly fishing only or can I use a spinning rod?
Devin Shaw it’s catch and release, artificial flies and lures only. Hope that helps. -Tim
@@CombatFlyFishing I seen that but wasn't sure if I could use a spinning rod instead of fly rod
Devin Shaw for sure. I’m not much of a spin fisherman, but friends tell me that a rainbow Rappalla is pretty deadly in there this time of year
