parts of beaches get taken by the sea, and given back by it aswell, all the time, that's how it works. it's land erosion on speed, and exceptionally noticable on islands, as they are surrounded by water on all sides, so the effect is pretty much doubled (for each axis), they change in size and shape every day lol. you can control the impact of the tide in several ways, either by diverting/breaking waves with rock formations and contraptions further down the water, and by simply sloping to an altitude that's above sea level. if you keep dumping enough on the sand pile, it'll be higher in relation to the sea level and the dark (hard sand) will become a pretty solid base as gravity challenges the tide vertically. the slope angle of the beach will form to it's ideal over time, by the same sea that either takes or leaves the excesses that cause the tides to accelerate too much, those are taken back by the sea again through force, to be distributed back to the bottom somewhere later :D i don't think you quite appreciate how much sand this is ;)
@@dutchdykefinger I DO APPRECIATE THE VAST QUANTITIES OF SAND AND WHAT A GOOD JOB IT DOES JUST A BIT LIKE WALKING 5 MILES TO A WELL WITH A BUCKET WHICH HAS A TINY HOLE IN IT SO BY THE TIME YOU GET BACK HOME 5% OF WALK HAS BEEN IN VAIN..HOWEVER ALL THE TIME IT IS ALSO PROVIDING MUCH WORK BY BOTH THE ENGINEERS AND CONTRACTORS AND EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURE SO ALL ROUND WINNER...NOT MANY MILES FROM ME ON OUR EAST COAST AT "WITHERNSEA" WHERE THERE IS MASS COASTAL EROSION WHERE HOTELS AND HOLIDAY BUILDINGS AND GARDEN ENDS HAVE GONE OVER THE CLIFF THEY FINALLY FINISHED ABOUT A YEAR AGO A BIG PROJECT WHERE THEY TRANSPORTED APPROX 80000 TONS OF ANORTHOSITE ROCK FROM NORWAY AND PLACED ALONG AN AREA APPROX 500 METRES LONG ON THE BEACH BELOW THE CLIFF TO STOP FURTHER SEA EROSION, ALSO SEVERAL OTHER BEACHES HAVE HAD SAND REPLACED ON THEM BY DREDGING TECHNIQUES...ALTHOUGH NOTHING ON THE ENORMOUS SCALE THEY HAVE USED IN THE FAR EAST TO BUILD HOLIDAY AND HOTEL COMPLEXES WHICH I NOW FIND INTERESTING TO SEE HOW THEY KEEP THE SAND IN PLACE..GUESS I'M GOING TO BE SURFING (NO PUN INTENDED) TO FIND OUT MORE ...
