    When he talks about milling right before extracting. Same applies to prerolls. Dispensaries should make prerolls daily to preserve flavor. Making them in bulk once a month etc makes for dry shitty grass flavored prerolls.

      @MrFragranceReview 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      By that logic cigars would be horrible unless they were rolled daily, which they aren’t.
      Proper storage is important, not rolling prerolls daily.

    Learned a lot from this , but most I was aware of , strain is everything , long cure = better and vacuum sealing is best ! My bud is open dry for 8 days , paper bag for 3 or 4 day's then jar for a month , opening and or removing often , then seal ! In my experience the flower's taste best within the first month !

    1: The time of day can make a difference in your coa. 2: The initial reason for drying/curing, is to let the plant dry as slow as possible, but not to the point of causing mold. It’s to give as much time as possible for the chlorophyll and such to evaporate. This also is a variable in getting your smoke a smoother smoke. 3: Dark glass jars are the best for storage in my opinion. For bulk I do a vac seal method. 3: packing for extracting,,hahaha ok,,,the idea is to pack your cylinder as full as you can and in a way to get the most extracted as possible with the amount of solvent your using, and at an even flow. The closed loop extractors are the best in my opinion. Anyway, powder,,,not going to work well. Hahaha I have stuffed tubes with ground, Oscar chopped, just stuffed tight, powdery, even tried to extract a tube of pure Kief just to see what it would do. Been at this for yrs now. Lol. Dang, I had a bunch more, but forgot already,,,hahaha I wish I was part of that class cause I got way more to add. Hahahaha

    I always wondered if vacuum storing might diminish volatile terpenes, this research seems to point against that. I would like to see a detailed study across a range of terpene volatilities. I have also wondered whether part of a long slow cure is to remove or transform certain harsher smoking more volatile terpenes and not just to preserve them. Some of my loudest strains pre-cure tend to actually smoke the harshest relatively speaking.

    • @Beefytiing

      I would imagine it's because vacuum sealing prevents any change in the atmosphere inside the bag due to taking out as much oxygen as possible so whatever state you throw said object in prior to vacuum sealing, you'd get a similar product out

    I find this very interesting. Dr. Roggen, I was wondering if several different strains each containing specific profiles of predictable traits could be blended to a standard formula to help with the conformity in medicinal applications? Also in our test we let the plant go full cycle male and female, using landrace. I think it is impossible to control any traits of todays hybrids as they really aren't stable to start with adding unpredictable complexity not suitable for any medicinal applications. Please make more of these short clips.

    • @MatanuskaHIGH
      @MatanuskaHIGH 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      If you separate cannabinoids from terpenes and isolate compounds and reintroduce them into product you can make a stable medicine that can have standard conformity. Deconstruct and reconstruct with uniformity. But each compound has to be isolated in its pure form for that to work. We are working at getting there. Isolated thca , cbd, thc, cbda, cbg, cbc. Terpenes from cannabis is the hard part because they are diverse. But extracting terpenes from other plants like limonene etc they can isolate them better compared to cannabis because cannabis has so many and other plants usually have specific major terpenes rather than dozens of them in a mix. I’m sure there’s ways to fraction certain terpenes for isolation but not easy I’m sure.

    • @user-cz2ss4ng6s
      @user-cz2ss4ng6s 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MatanuskaHIGH I understand this and I accept it as the way it is even though the processing {mainly the heat and chemicals) take its toll on cannabis and it does slightly change the profile to "not as", which only means it has been processed . I think that the strain conformity will be the major hurdle although this can be over come by volume and filtration. For medicine the closes we can get is very good and the future is wide open in this field with our understanding constantly improving, isolation and processes getting better every day, thank you for the correspondence and stay green my friends.

    One thing I know is IF the tree doesn’t give a couch lock high then I’m not HIGH💯%fact & flavonoids only can be detected by taste & smell meaning YOU have to SMOKE IT💯%fact
    TO BE HONEST if you harvest some tree that KNOCKS YOU TF OUT after 2 hits, that is when you know you did it 💯% 🥳💰
    People tend to ruin the plant by trying to achieve that couch locked 🔒 final product. After that you can then figure out how & when to harvest next year depending if you want a less of a CL you’d harvest earlier to get that result.

    Pardon my bluntness. It's difficult to watch academia slowly catch up to long known facts well understood by the self studied avid home producer, farmers, cannabis researchers and the cannabis industry at large. It is especially difficult to watch when commonly know facts are shared as discovery or proven. Please hurry your learning curve and consult a specialist such as Kevin Jodrey to enlighten you to the parameters and direction that your skill and expertise can take our understanding and development to the next level.

    The whole industry is chasing their tails going about this wrong. Trying to create a baseline with biased advantages towards a product and system driven by per gram efficiency and not initial quality. The ignorance of the growers and the disinformation being pushed is the industries biggest problem outside of greed. The implementation of Fungal Repositories and private home growers answers every question.

    i love how he dosnt understand curing !first off im no dr. but if you dry to anything below 10% you will ruin your weed ! second if you dont cure your weed will taste like grass clipings so yea gotta cure in glass jars burp once per day for 2 weeks or until it smells "good" . third i should of finished school instead of growing weed so i could be a weed doctor. if you grind your weed you crush the tricones . the only reason he got more is because there was 4 plus times the amount you can fit in extractor . if you dont grind you get all the tricones in perfect shape thus giving you better taste !!

    • @tsluiter4
      @tsluiter4 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm positive he would have done the extraction by weight, so the same weight went into the extractor for each run. It likely has to do with the ground cannabis having a larger surface area contact with the extraction solvent. As opposed to unground, which likely has hidden trichomes inside that don't get contacted as easily by the extraction solvent and carried out.

    • @tsluiter4

      @@craigengelman4534 Freezing will not change the structure and therefore not change the contacted surface area of the solvent. But you're right in the sense that freezing does help for some mechanical and chemical extractions.
