How I found my 6.74 acres of farmland

- There is no one right way to find farmland. The most important thing here is that everyone start finding this farmland, period, before corporations and Wall Street do.
I find Zillow to be the most comprehensive online tool available (this is not sponsored btw). But as I learn about seller financing as well, don't rule out DRIVING to these farms and speaking to the farmers. Obviously only go to farms with an OPEN flag - please don't trespass etc. haha.
I will be covering seller financing and charitable remainder trusts (amazing tool available to farmers) that allow the farmers to pass on land as a donation while also accepting a monthly payment (usually around ONLY $500 - insane).
I covered HOW to finance the farmland in this video: • 3 ways to finance farm... .
I am writing about the specific costs, permitting, taxes, etc. related to my farm on my Substack! houseofgreen.s...
Congratulations on your endeavor! Let me know if you want to try your hand at growing shiitakes. I own a tree farm in the Adirondacks and use black birch and beech bolts to grow shiitakes.
Thank you! And yes checking CRIME MAPS is a MUST!!!! I declined an offer recently due to high crime.
I feel like you've blown up the past couple months!! I see you've been doing TH-cam for 4 years now! Happy that it's starting to pay off. And the new farmland content is much needed. I will be using farm credit once I find what I'm looking for. Thanks for the insight
It really only happened in the last 3 weeks lol! But I am happy to run with it!! And love filming videos helping people with this stuff.
This is awesome! A group of friends and I have been looking into ways to keep money local. Definitely going to look into our local farms!
Yes, good that the algorithm picked up the video. It just appeared in mine and I have been enjoying the good information. I see a different future with so many like her getting into farming! I will have start looking for a homestead of my own soon!
I’m an elevator mechanic in NYC & I love your videos. Not sure how I found you but you’re living your best life. Wish you luck.
Couldn't agree more that us citizens needing to get our hands on this land before Corporate America does. Im trying to figure out how i can help you get your word out. You're much better than me at explaining this stuff. Anything you can suggest i will do
Thank you for posting! This is such a great idea to get into this 'aging' industry, but an industry that cannot be replaced by A.I. Good job!
in my area there is a ton of farm land, I just don't know much about all the laws & regulations etc. & how loans or financing stuff works. I'd love to own about 10 or 20 acres partial farmland & partial wooded. I dig all your reports. I learn a lot but I'm thinking here might be different for your area. thanks
Lots more to come for you all!
@@AlexandraFasuloBiz yay (happy face)
tysm for sharing all of this, I really want to keep greedy corporate demons from controlling our either food and land system and I want to get involved! I want a small farm and garden - gonna binge watch your channel and learn all I can
Unless you're actually going to buy a lot of land and start growing food to support the needs of the population, your "involvement" will amount to nothing. There's no difference in people like you buying up land and keeping it for yourself or a big corporation buying it up for profit. Neither scenario benefits society and the population as a whole. At least when big corps buy up farm land there is still farming going on amd people have food to buy. When many like you buy up farm land there is no food for others to buy.
Think about it on a large scale.
This is such a wholesome channel. I love your Amish built buildings. They really do great work and are fair in their business practices. Cheers!
Thank you for all these videos! Learning a ton.
It seems we're all trying to get out of the city and find some land
It is definitely something that's in everyone's collective minds right now!
I just adore your channel and personality. I live in Texas, (Houston) and really trying to find something about the size you just purchased. Tomorrow I am going to check out a fishing camp/cabin, but it only has 2.47 acres. But the price seems very good. You put out a lot of good useful information. Especially knowing neighbors around you and crime statistics. Lastly, don't want to buy land near prisons either, (since most prisons are farmland).
That is a good tip!
Tks for doing this Alexandra.
I love your channel. It gave me the courage to finally start the process to get my own farm land. Thank you
I am happy to keep sharing! ❤
Wow. Cool video. Not many people that I know want to get into farming, but i am from Southern California. They think I am nuts because I am moving away from the city and gonna have a farm. Big time.
43 sec in to upload & I'm here-to remind you're an awesome farmer! 🤩🍾🥂💝
You are so helpful! I’ve been trying to figure out how to buy farm land. thank you
Wow! I saw 3-4 of your previous videos and had no idea you were in NYS, so I actually took some of your previous advice, but was running around like a headless chicken because there's so much information that it's overwhelming
But this advice is perfectly specific to my situation! I'm in NYC and I've been looking to get out and start a homestead upstate. I have family in NYC and Plattsburgh and regularly drive up and down I-87, 5 hours to visit both sides. So I was looking for somewhere in between, specifically Queensbury/Albany/Saratoga.
And then I saw this video, and it's exactly what I needed! Thank you
Don't stop making these videos! Thanks!
love hearing this type of content. especially since I'm in new england and am excited to see someone start a farm from scratch here!
God bless for sharing ..
such a resource in ability to share this as a single woman ..
For those in your exact shoes / life phase ... what is your thought process in taking something like this on ?... besides what's shared here, how did you work out what you will actually be doing on this land ? Do you have a background that would give you the know-how ?
Asking particularly because the lifestyle for a farmer would be a total transformation for most people who don't currently farm . Yet, your message is unashamedly for every 🇺🇲 American.
Can we talk about stewardship here , upcoming? I've seen some things already on your channel related that i will be going to view. My q is, process ? ... You're talking the external 'abc's' .. but, how should someone go about actually thinking they are capable of doing something like this ?
Thanks, God bless .
Refreshing and great content, you may need to make a big sign mentioning organic farm stand here right next to the tarmac on the road, this will impact the traffic in your stand, and put it wide like the one in the advertisements
@AlexandraFasuloBiz1 nice try scammer fake alexandra
Thank you! Your passion shows in your videos!
Thanks so much for the information! ❤
When you mentioned "Saratoga" in a previous video, I looked it up on Google and thought you were in Wyoming (haha), but you're not. I'm so glad I found your channel. I can't tell you how rare it is for me to be so genuinely interested in anything. God bless you, honey.
Can you talk about the quality of the land and infrastructure...please? :) I saw another channel where he talked about making sure the land isn't just a thin layer of soil on top of massive rocks, how to find out if there is a water source, for a well, and other types of land quality/infrastructure issues. I'm just starting to learn about this stuff. New to your channel. Thanks for the inspiration! Yes...I agree it's better to have the land owned by people who are going to be good stewards.
Yes I can share what I know! I do think people get a little crazy with the soil quality stuff.. I am rehabbing my soil little by little, and find it rewarding! Unless you plan to do large-scale farming, raised beds, no-till farming can help you get started asap.
I've always had the desire to life on a farm. I think I'm answering your call to action. Thanks for the vids.
I just subscribed. I live in Wyoming so I'm surrounded by land, therefore I'm super interested. I've lived in a small city my entire life so I have no idea how to even get into farmland. I'll definitely be watching your videos. Keep posting please ❤️
So many more vids to come!! ❤❤❤
Very informative video! Just like Alexandra mentioned; investigate! Do your research online and make phone calls. I'm using Zillow, which is a great tool, but a lot of people fail to understand that you HAVE to drive out to see the properties. If you go on a nice day, great, but I highly recommend to go when the weather is not good just so you get a taste of what you're really getting into. Thanks for the video!
Lots more coming your way!
Retired vet just looking to get away from all the drama.
I don't want a full farm. I'm at that point it's to late to start over but I would like 2000 sqft.
A simple small place to rest my head and store my things.
I don't take much space and will help with things.
I also provide security and pay my own way.
So glad I found your content

found your channel yesterday and am excited to hear what you learned from your experience doing this!
I am glad you're here!
Very helpful content, thank you, Alexandra! Will be following your journey.
Just found your channel, time to do some research about purchasing farm acres. Thank you for sharing this invaluable information with all of us.
It is my pleasure! Lots more to come.
I'm looking at 5 acres in the Mojave Desert in CA. It is R5 which means Rural livestock and agriculture if you have 5 acres. No structures on it just an old homestead foundation. I mostly just want to homestead for myself but I could sell excess eggs, etc. Would that be "farming?" As far as loan wise?
This is amazing, so happy I found your channel ❤❤ Subscribed
Im gonna watch this series in its entirity, as I have dreams to do this exact thing. Thank you for your advice! Very helpful.
So much more content to come!

I’ve been wanting to buy land in Texas for some time now but wasn’t sure how to go about it. Came across your page and now I feel more confident than ever to dive in. You’re a God send!

I came across your channel through this video-
case studies are incredibly valuable, and I'm eager
to see more in the future! Building wealth involves
establishing routines, like consistently setting aside
funds at regular intervals for smart investments.
You're correct. I think the smartest way to go is
to spread out your investments. By putting
your money into different asset classes like
bonds, real estate, and stocks from other
countries, you can lower the risk if one part of
the market goes bad.
That sounds like a good plan. In the past two
years, working closely with a financial market
specialist, I've built a six-figure diversified
stock portfolio. Now, I aim to diversify even
more this year.
Ms Martha Ann Hammerton was my hope during the
'bear summer lost year . I did so many
mistakes but also learned so much from it
I was skeptical at first till I decided to try. Its huge returns is awesome.
Same here!!! Though I started with as low as $7,000 AUD
actually because it was my first time and it
was Successful., She is a great personality in

Another helpful video! Thanks!

Love you Alexandra, thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge! I'm curious, did you ask any of the property owners if they'd been farming organically, etc.? And if so, what percentage of the properties you looked at were? Also, did you check to see if the land is in a "flood zone", I'm guessing this might be something important given the strangeness of the weather (manipulation) lately.
Yes, I checked ALL flood maps and FEMA flood maps!
Thank you @@AlexandraFasuloBiz what about organic, non-gmo, etc?
I have a farm stand in Schoharie County, NY I’m intrigued with your statement about selling cut greens, I was unaware that you could, was curious about the legality of it and perhaps where you got that info and if possible you could share that with me, thanks
A Homesteader/Prepper's Dream:
About 10.2 Acres in Central Wisconsin; quiet, country, large, two story farmhouse with a new addition that is about 20 years old. Generous, three car attached garage, basement under addition. Open kitchen concept contemporary design. Convenient office has separate entry. Shed and old barn, garden, woods, asparagus, blueberries, rhubarb, black walnut, pretty setting. New windows and siding throughout, new hot water heater, new furnace last year, new hand pump last year, new six inch well about two years ago, new Heco 520 wood cook stove in 2018, new septic in 2018.
It has electricity and a propane furnace and propane hot water heater with a large propane tank. However, it also has a fairly new, Amish, wood burning cook stove and oven which can keep the house as warm as you would like during the winter and cook your food for free, and there are plenty of woods to supply its fuel. Also a backup, the deep well hand pump can supply clean, fresh water even in the event of an extended power outage. Furthermore, the basement is currently prepped with decades worth of well preserved survival food that can go with the property.
This homestead is within driving distance from Madison (1.5 hours), Milwaukee (2 hours), Chicago (3.5 hours), Minneapolis (3.5 hours), Des Moines (5.5 hours), Indianapolis (6 hours), and St. Louis (6 hours).
Escape to the safe, quiet country. Call 858-633-6630 or email Hancock@HyperGalaxy.com now to discover this exceptional farmhouse style home on 10 acres.
Great info, keep it coming!
How about you consider creating an app/platform to help bridge the gap between potential sellers (farmers) and potential buyers?
I've tried making apps before - soooooo hard. I am thinking about a directory I just pin to my Substack?!
@@AlexandraFasuloBiz to make an app you need a proper developer + UX/UI person, yep.
a directory/list would be a great start, as more people trust you because of your content you can get more entries/farms to add.
all the best!

Can you discuss building barndos
Great info thanks😊
having actually farmed from a 10A truck farm which i sold to farmers markets and wholesale to a 30,000 acre farm of rice, tomatoes and corn, I wish you luck. Im glad you could get a loan for the land subsidised by the taxpayers(not a big deal) but to actullly earn a real living off this land, good effing luck. Even with your proximity to a population center if you think $60 is going to make it happen... dont even think about giving up your day job. Farming is a low margin , multigenerational buisiness filled with hard work and heartbreak. Its not a romance novel(though there can be some romance there). Cheers, I hope that the utube income makes up for this promo. God bless real farmers
It's time for everyone to look to the future. The days of needing to farm 1,000-acres to pay rent are over. There are other ways to profit from a farm, like farm stand sales, direct microgreens sales, agrotourism, leasing acres to others, white labeling local wine, etc. Expand your mindset and allow others to join the farming ranks.
Having spent thirty years in the corporate world in fortune 500 companies, it's not all it's cracked up to be either. I've also lived and worked on a ranch, and I can say that there is a peace of mind, autonomy and absence of greedy competition, disrespect and humiliation that I've happily escaped. I'll never go back to the corporate abuse. Sometimes less is more, and many are just fine with that. 🦋
are the interest rates different for the farm credit loans you are talking about? How are they different from conventional loans? Do you have a video breaking that down? Also where did you get the capital to pay for the house in cash and what did it cost?
Two structures…
Does that include out buildings such as chicken coop,
hog pen, goat enclosure, ect…?
Can you share how much the lot was total and how much out of pocket for you for land and barn!
I cover this on my Substack! I linked in video description

Helpful beautiful and sharp
Excellent report 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I totally agree
Sucks for me. Born and raised in Los Angeles. I gotta go at least 4 hours away to find anything decent. lol
In previous videos you mentioned certain plans, but also your flexibility and willingness to learn and develop your skills as well as your land. I saw some people comment recommendations on what to grow. And I know there are also various ways or forms or styles of farming. One of them being “regenerative” or “restorative” farming. I’ve seen videos about how to use and renew and improve land with those practices and it apparently limits the need for chemicals to care for the crops and land. Channels like roots so deep and Mr. Salaron poly face farms seem to have some good or at least interesting ideas. This is from a city girl with a black thumb and no knowledge of agriculture but maybe those channels could be helpful to you
Mr. Salatin*
Apparently he holds a conference called homesteaders of America too
Does Farm Credit East require the land be zoned Agricultural?
Or are they lenient in that any zone technically allows "gardening/road stands" to some extent?
I have so many questions! I want to buy a farm and I’d love to stay in California but I don’t know it to be possible without constant struggle. How can I find farm land in another state without having seen it. It sounds like that’s what you did? I’d really appreciate any guidance.
Thanks💯
I need more money and better credit. But congrats! Happy for you.

Maybe a list of farmers looking to pass land onto other aspiring farmers can be made? Tell me how I can help?
Could you have done it without a realtor in that county?
Don’t you pay high taxes in your state ❓
New York gonna be harsh winter ❄️
Start a farm = pay little to no taxes, no matter the state! And I am from Upstate NY, winter is part of who I am :)
How do you make profit I've seen a bit of your other video where you like sold like 60 bucks worth of pumpkins at one point that just doesn't seem sustainable idk maybe there's more to it

There is big money in selling the idea of making money to other people.

@@123lowp huh I didn't know that, thanks for the info
Always a great job. Thanks for posting. Cheers....
I looked in upstate NY and Maine. It's really hard to tell if the land is good or not unless you do boots on the ground. Did you enter towns outside of your city in Zillow? Or did you use the county name?
I just put in Saratoga Springs since I knew I wanted that to be my base city and looked at land within 60 minutes of it !
Seems odd they only allow 4 large animals. Didn’t you say you have like 7 acres? That’s plenty of space for more cows/horses to graze.
Each town has its own weird rules - that's why I would shop towns until you find one you like!
Wholesome host, engaging content. Thank you. So glad to watch somebody not covered in tattoos and nose piercings.
How old are you while doing all of this?
Seeing Billy Boy aka Bill Gates be buying lands in US like a maniac ain't a good sight but in parallel, people like Alex are there for a good cause.
Much respect for you!
❤❤❤
Hello Alexandra, are you hiring for farm labor?
Large farms are buying all of the land… Many counties are down to only a few farms per county. They control the movement of land. If they want it they get it, we never see it for sale.
It's true this is happening, but there's also thousands of acres that are going to be for sale nonetheless. It takes less than 1 acre for a person to be able to feed their community. We need to stop being so defeatist and man up!
@@AlexandraFasuloBiz I agree! Unfortunately here in Wisconsin the only land you can find is going to be the land that is way over priced. Farmers are paying 12k per acre for large parcels. Small parcels are too expensive for the average person to afford not to mention trying to afford to build a home on it. I can’t wait to find the right land for me! I also encourage the average person to get out and buy land if it’s affordable for them 👍
