From my experience the main thing is that they are spiked and iced. Not that bleeding won't help, as long as spiked first. We still bleed pelagic and some demersal that we know it helps. But the spiking pulls all the blood out of the flesh and into the spine/organs.
With coloured fish but reds in particular, if they are pressed against the side of the esky or another warm fish they can get white patches where they were not chilled strait away. Doesn't actually make any difference eating wise as long as the are actually fully chilled, but doesn't look good and can be seen as a sign of the fish not being looked after or chilled correctly.
Cheers, I think they're a 80mm shark clip. All depend on how fish are biting for how long. somtimes let soak for 5/10 if its slow, but if there on, we pull up as soon as we have last string spike and baited hooks ready.
Cheers, ye we run 13/0 which are perfect for decent gold band and ruby's. Are a bit big for some thing like pinkys, but still cast them. I think most the guys use 12/0 or 13/0.
Those whites are just different to all other sharks! I've dived with Bulls, hammers, tigers, Oceanic white tips and had no issues and to be honest wasn't even that nervous but a Great white is a whole different thing and I would not be comfortable outside a cage with that eating machine. Beautiful animal but it's designed to take out mammals and I think that's baked into our DNA to fear that. Love the new lane of commercial stuff!
Great footage mate, love these videos
Cheers
Did someone get into the water with that great white?
Yeh, definitely not. Just GoPro on a stick.
Enjoy the videos. It appears bleeding these fish not required are we wasting time on our snapper and dhufish?

That cobia hanging with the GWS must have been massive. Awesome footage 👍👍
Cheers, yeh I was going to mention that it was a big cobia.
Are you not allowed to keep any sharks
Nope. Only allowed to keep demersal scalefish. Snapper, emperor, cods ect.
Can you please explain the part you were saying about the white marks on the red emperor?

Bloody good videos. What size circle hooks do you use? They look like around a 12/0 or 13/0 to me. They seem to do the trick on everything 🤙
