    Hi instead of the chain for a weight try a beer can full lead with a loop of wire to tire it to the line

    • @SeaforceCoralBay

      Yeh we have plenty of used spare chain thats why we uses that. Lead is pretty dam expensive these days so try to use alternatives ob commercial.

    Healthy fishery, quality rather than quantity.

    Man I'd love to join yall on this vessel. My old commercial captain I worked for would absolutely lose his 💩 seeing them fish not gutted an packed with ice or them touching without ice between them . Lol

    • @SeaforceCoralBay

      Yeh they prefer the whole these days, gutting increases the chance of the flesh getting contaminated. yeh pack ice top and bottom then add sea water so becomes a slurry, and packing tight prevents too much movement and damage to fish.

    • @mishmash9397

      Gutting fish before packing leads to less shelf life

    • @John06648

      @SeaforceCharters yea after catch the fish/clean never seen water again . Them sitting in water will cause way less shelf life /rot to set in depending on the species of fish . To each their own on methods . Don't get me wrong we weren't catching Goldban etc we don't get those this side of the water

    • @John06648

      @SeaforceCharters use slurry while they wait to be clean then never see water again just ice . But not saying anything you do is wrong. Different strokes different folks . And different fishery. Still love to hit a few trips with yall . Tight lines keep them coming

    In the USA we use the same method but electric reels and movable racks for the hooks......also using artificials on auto jigging machines from Norway.......... good luck

    I have only recently found your channel and have been going through some of your past videos. We lived in Daintree for seven years fishing the reef on a regular basis so it's interesting comparing the fishing. Watching some of your charters you mention that you have a 50 fish boat limit, this is despite having a dozen or so anglers on board. Considering the distances involved that seems very low, four or five fish each would only take a few drops at times off FNQ. Having to head the 90 minutes back to port after just a few drops is crazy. Was that part of your decision to do more commercial?

    • @SeaforceCoralBay

      Yeh it's basically a 5 fish per person bag limit where we are. Which most people are quite happy with. On the south Coast of WA they only allow 2 pp with other boat limits. Have been trying to get commercial licence for a long time, but mainly just to mix it up a bit.

      @@SeaforceCoralBay Nobody would make the run to the wide reefs over here in the East if they were only allowed five fish, you could easily get that in close. I am all for conservation so it's a hard call.

    Great vid. I don't understand how you don't get more sharked though? I'm surprised how you seem to get so many fish past 'em. Like, that half the line isn't just fish heads.

    • @SeaforceCoralBay

      10 years of charter fishing learning how to avoid them. But we do get hammered some times, but just move strait away. Our gear is big enough that we hook and pull all but the biggest of sharks up, so that helps.

    Dude awesome fish!
    how long are the baits out at a time? How are you not getting sharked on every string?!?!

    • @SeaforceCoralBay

      Still learning that myself, but depends on how hungry fish are. Anything from 30sec to 5/10min. No fish not long enough, empty hooks too long. When there firing you pretty much bring it in as soon as you have last drops fish cleared and baited hooks ready.

    Hi mate, what circle hooks do you use? Seem to come out so easy. And here's me spending 5 minutes with the pliers just to unhook a blowie

    • @SeaforceCoralBay

      Just typical s/s tuna circles 13/0. Just got to twist them out, but we get to do it all day long so just practice.

    Been a live coral trout pro for two decades on GBR. Would be mad to have a go at deep dropping. All our fishing is done in sub 30m or we be blowing them up. Great vid though mate. Keep it up. Wild caught will always be better than farmed shit.

      Mate would love to give that that handling trout suff a go. It's definite the peak of making the most of the resource, pick you fish, keep them alive. By far the best way to do it.
