BACK ON THE ROPE - Fishing Charter, Coral Bay, Western Australia, Goldband Snapper, Black Marlin.
มุมมอง 4.4K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Still in our charter season, school holidays sees plenty of younger crew on the boat. The first time deep sea fishing for many but they still do well. Trying to get Brock behind the wheel a bit more so I'm back on the rope. We pick up what I assumed was a sailfish on the way in but turned out to be a little Black Marlin. We don't recommend puling these fish out of the water and was not setting ...

Charter season in full swing. Full boats, lots of lines and ripping current make the tangles pretty average. The fish are schooling tight and hungry, so as long as the lines hit them they are firing. We seem to have a few small Exmouth Goldband making their way down our way, but that's fine, I'm sure their little ones taste good too. So back into the fishing charters and strait into one of our groups. The plan was to chase Red Emperor, so did the miles down to some of our best ground, but it was all for nothing. They were just no on the bite and despite trying top force the matter, we had to resort to PLAN B. We pulled the old girl out in Carnarvon for its annual refit. Back in the water ready to go and fishing our way back to Coral Bay. Some how it pretty much went to plan. Targeting Pink Snapper, Goldband and Ruby Snapper. We managed a reasonable haul of all 3. Touching on why we don't bleed our fish, the Ikijime technique and the fact we don't kill sharks. With a 12 hour weather window we head out to get what we can. But with wind against current the boat was swining on anchor causing some average tangles. Any tips on how you set your tvg
can you do a video breaking down the $ made for a trip like that and what the average wage a deckie gets please
We need more sounder content. There wouldn't be many people better at reading one than a pro
I’m booked in very soon
I want to work with you
Love the videos, you mentioned less than ideal moon phase. What's the ideal moon for the fish you are trying to catch?
Generally leading up to the full a new moons is best. But even that rule is sometimes wrong.
Well done again Adam got some pocket money coming in great effort again looking forward to coming on a charter or two next year 😊
Good vid mate and Good tunes to go with !
Love your work what a gaff shot 🤙enjoy your vids mate
Thanks for the video mate, always a good watch!
Cheers
Where do you get the UV line from for the dropper? I want to do something similar for deep dropping in SEQ
Get them and all my gear for a place in WA called Diamond Networks. But most tackle shops should be able to source them.
@@SeaforceCoralBay Awesome thank you
Tasty fish guys 👍
What sort of cutter is that?
What cutter mate??
@@SeaforceCoralBay the one for the sharks
@@mitchellholdsworth8582 ah yeh. maritec emergency line cutter. Similar should be available from most tackle shops. Simple/safe.
@@SeaforceCoralBay yeah looks good. Sharks on a small boat offshore isn’t ideal. Seems like most your gear is from diamond networks correct, I’ll suss them out when I’m in Perth next
rosey = sharpy = goldy once the fillets are off haha
I agree.
Hey mate love your videos. Rosey job fish back in the late nineties I ran a comercial boat out of Port Stephens NSW we use to fish Lord How island we exported them to Hawaii $14 per pound American back then fixed price if you have a exporter it is worth a try
Yeh got a couple of people looking into exporting fish from our fishery at the moment, so will see how that goes. Cheers
like~ what a good job!goodbye, Seaforce, :)
Thanks Skip! I really enjoy the commercial fishing videos the most. My son and I are working on a boat. You inspire us to keep going brother!
Cheers
Some of the goldban at the end there were huge well done awesome work what is the biggest gold band you’ve caught weight size and what weight do they max out?
How long do you leave the baits down there for? Great video by the way. I fish in Saipan for a few of these fish types and happy to see you catch a good lot.
Wow that is some amazing fishing, well done to you both! Yewwwww!
Gun skipper an great deck hand 👌👌
Still cant wait to come up with my rod an get into them goldban
Cracking vid mate bloody love it
Great Vid mate those gold's are donkeys and brocs red what a cracker best commercial vid yet and they have all been crackers love yah work can't wait for part 2 👌👌💪💪🎣🎣
Just curious why don't you gut the fish before you ice them save room . Not alot until they all add up. An ice can be put in cut cavity
Most tend to prefer them whole these days. So we do what the buyer prefers. It's a lot of wok for the storage gain and even if done well can increase the chance of contaminating the flesh by cutting them open.
@@SeaforceCoralBay oh 100% customers needs/wants met is a priority.
Great fishing. Love my Alveys. I still do not know how you get them past the noahs. Too deep?
A lot of time learning areas to avoid and when. and we still get hammed some times. Definitely not too deep. Sharks out in the 3/400's are as bad as threat get.
@@SeaforceCoralBay My mate who fishes a lot wide off Karratha and Exxy reckons the deeper/colder water isn't too bad. However, the warmer shallows are stacked with sharks. You obviously have sharks sussed. I bet I've eaten a few of your fish. I love your videos, very sustainable and quality angling. Kudos to you.
you guys seem to have shockingly little issue with sharks compared to the average punter off exmouth especially... Think it's just a depth thing? 60-90m off Lefroy area I seem to get terrorized constantly!
Yeh different area but 10 years of working out what to avoid and when helps. But we do still get hammered some times.
Well done again them Gold band where horses fantastic looks like you have new esky another good video Adam and Brock 😊
Lickn me lips for fish n chips now 😂
What size circle hooks do you use cobba
Hello. Greetings from Curaçao. You know as nust how to catch those.. keep it a sthat. Did you use only tuna as bait ? Do you fish those all around 130 meters deep ? Is your depth sounder a futuro 205 and what watt power di the sounder have ? 7:22
What, you don,t Gut your Fish. ?.
With the javelin fish ,common name grunter ,there is 2 types ,spotted and barred grunter, we get them in central Queensland around 80cm
haha that was a fishy humor
How deep¿
😂❤
What brand of filleting knife do you roll with? They cop a flogging and seem to cope pretty well with it.
Do you still tag the under sized reds. Like you used to???
Yeh definitely still do, but not all of them. It takes a few minutes to record everything so we sometimes leave it with busy full boats.
@@SeaforceCoralBay fair enough
Would love to do this with you guys one day . But that is a long ride to get there from . You have your system, but this might make it easier for you. Over here on these kind of charters we use a few big ice boxes like the ones you use for your commercial video depending on how many ppl on board 1 would doo probably for you and each spot is assigned and string and number that way everyone goes home with exact fish they caught and bit easier for the deackhands to track them .
Yeh we mark every fish just on the tail/head/fins so customers still go home with the exact fish they caught. Have tried all the systems over the years and found this the best. No stuffing around with ropes or cable ties, just a quick cut and in the esky. We have to record all the fish at the end of the day for fisheries records so pretty easy to sort when we doing that.
@@SeaforceCoralBay understandable work what works for you .
cheeky slice of sashimi on the robinson haha
Nothing better.
Nice catch there. Well done.
Gee Adam nice fish especially the Robbo love it take care happy fishing
Actually used to be called convict perch because of the arrow pattern on its side like the pattern on convicts clothing who knows why it was changed
Fir enough never heard of that one. We do get a few species that are call convict fish with the arrows. But wouldn't of thought that with the reds, Bit of a stripe with the littles ones but thats about all.
@@SeaforceCoralBay yeah a skipper on a week long charter out of Cairns back in the early 90’s told me that sort of makes sense because the arrow is the same shape cheers
Well you learn something new every day, cheers for that mate 😅😁
Salam dari Indonesia
For anyone wondering. Fish that live in deep water have a swim bladder that helps them balance and stay afloat. When brought up too quickly, they inflate with oxygen and have to be popped for the fish to live and go back down to the bottom
Hi instead of the chain for a weight try a beer can full lead with a loop of wire to tire it to the line
Yeh we have plenty of used spare chain thats why we uses that. Lead is pretty dam expensive these days so try to use alternatives ob commercial.
Cool videos ive never seen this type of commercial line fishing. Im a cray fishermen from bass strait/ the roaring 40,s and screaming 50,s . Its freezing cold and huge seas and working in 35 to 40 knots is fairly standard practice down there .. big seas with 2 or 3 tonnes of water smashing over the bow and washing across deck is not uncommon either.. certainly keeps you on your toes .. the water down there is so cold , its like someone throwing a hand full of needless into your chest , it instantly removes all the air from your lungs and all you can do is breath backwards for around a 20 seconds straight until you finally exhale. Its great 😂.
Where do you prefer fishing. Exmouth or CB for charters???
Bottom fishing definitely Coral Bay, but Exmouth does have a few options when the weather is bad and a awesome pelagic fishery.
