    I rebuild my 1987 cr125 and it did not have spark after I got it all together. All the electrical parts checked good . I adjusted the pulse coil after watching this video and it fired right up. Thanks!!!!

      Sweet! So glad it helped. Enjoy the 125. That's a nice bike.

    I just did a full off the frame restoration of my 86 CR 250 , and that’s one thing I am so thankful for to God I did not have to mess with!

      Congrats on the resto! Definitely one of the most iconic MX bikes ever. And in my opinion still the best looking bike on the planet. :)

    Dude well done! I have a 93 that only likes to fire up every now and again. My buddy says i need to kick it harder... i think i have an intermittent spark. Looking forward to discovering what the issue is soon!

      Good luck with that. Electrical issues are the worst! Thanks for tuning in.

    This one of my guesses with a bike I am working on right now. I tested the pulse voltage and had to same issue, how to capture it. Thanks for the great information.

    Great video I was getting 3 volts out of the trigger coil !

    Great info here! I'm getting ready to restore my '86 CR125 and I will be checking this gap when I get close to finishing her. Thanks!

      Good luck on the project. It's a lot of fun. I have a 1985 CR125 hanging on my wall. Literally. It's a piece of art.

    Can you tell me where/what name of the max voltage meter you hooked up to the multimeter Have no spark on my 85 CR250

    • @some-guys-garage
      @some-guys-garage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually don't know what brand it is. I borrowed it from someone else. If you search for peak voltage tester you will find them. Some multi-meters have them built in. Since my cheap meter doesn't have that feature, I had to use the extra peak voltage module.

    What would be the issue if it’s too close where it hits ?

    • @some-guys-garage
      @some-guys-garage  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It will wear itself out. As a general rule, moving parts shouldn't strike stationary parts.

    My 88 cr 125 is not wanting to start really, adjusted it now it fires. But it keeps going back to where it was, did you loosen those 2 screws to bend it?

    • @some-guys-garage
      @some-guys-garage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't have to loosen the screws, no. Do you have a feeler gauge? You can check the gap with a feeler gauge. Have you checked the ohms on the stator?

      Man, I hate electrical problems.
      It's hard to know for sure, but that sounds like a failing stator. If the winding has a small fault, the flow of electricity in the winding can change the temperature of the wires enough to open the circuit. Do you have another stator you can swap out? Or, alternatively, you might be able to test the stator ohms when it's cold, then quickly test again after you crank it to see if anything changes.
      Good luck with it!

      It had one always had stator problems ,if it did start I had low speed /rpm pick up problems but when everything worked fastest bike I ever had ,if I had to do it again I would wire it to a DC CDI with a small 12 volt battery ,not an AC CDI

    One question, those motorcycles must have oil in the gasoline.

    • @some-guys-garage
      @some-guys-garage  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes - motorcycles with two-stroke engines require some oil be mixed with the gasoline. Some modern two strokes have oil injection, but most two strokes require that you mix oil into the fuel that goes in the tank.
