B.J. Thomas released the original version of this song, which was written by Mark James. It was a country pop tune. BLUE SWEDE version is a cover but the one I like the most. Loved it when I had a chance to played it on OLDIES 104 in Buffalo NY.

I always got a kick out of this song. I remember it well. My freshman year of high school. I don't know anything about the song other than I drove my mom nuts going, "Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka." The poor woman, she would beg me to stop, no luck.

Actually they had another hit, "Never My Love," covering The Association, in the same year. It reached #7 in the U.S. Top 40.
