It's so much easier if your sort out what needs to be done before your demise.
So what I would say is have it all sorted and just leave a booklet expressing your requirements with your partner.
I don't think a simple booklet will stand up in court.

Once put in writing or vlog the booklet was simply to point people in the right direction.
We all know that a proper will is the way to go.
