It's eye wateringly expensive going private Fiona :( I really do feel for you. The other half got a hernia operation at Ross Hall not that long ago and cost around £3,500...bloody hell. Praying you get better news soon xxx
Thanks Cheryl. Isn't it crazy how much they charge, especially when it's the same surgeons who do it for free in the NHS! It's not like you're paying extra for a highly trained expert lol x
O you poor darling having had kidney stones twice you have my deepest sympathy . I sincerely hope you get treatment soon and never worry about sharing your ups as well as downs because life happens xx
This is heartbreaking I’m so sorry you are going through such a hard time I pray you get sorted out soon will keep you in my thoughts and prayers honey lots of love xx
Oh Fiona, I’m so sorry to see you like this. Hospital appointments are a joke at the moment, urgent priorities are taking over 2 months, it’s just not fair. I’m hoping and praying that you get your treatment soon. Lots of love my darling Sandra xx
Oh fiona that is just terrible how you are being treated. I can’t begin to imagine the pain you are in. I wish I lived closer to give you a visit and try and cheer you up. I would feel the same as you and want to take myself to the hospital and stay there till they say they are doing the op.I do hope you get word soon love Doris , hugs sent xx
@@OurCRAZYLifeScotland I’m just the same thanks. So tired after this Covid. Saw doctor yesterday and she is wanting an X-ray done on the foot to see why it’s so swollen and painful. The hospital will phone with an app but won’t hold my breath on that coming anytime soon !! With the back log I think I will have weeks to wait. Raining here today x Doris xx
We have public and private here in Australia and the waiting list for public health is prioritiesed from levels 1 to 4 which 4 is the lowest but you could be waiting up to 3 to 4 years for an operation and level 1 you could be waiting a few weeks. I hope you have your operation soon and take care Fiona . ❤️ from 🇦🇺
I'm so sorry Fiona. Wish I could reach in to give you a cuddle. Terrible waiting this length of time. Pain is very wearing. You poor soul. I'm thinking about you and praying you get word very soon. xxx
I feel so sorry you are going through this Fiona It's shocking I'm going through a similar situation just now and like yourself my dad is a retired nurse who said exactly what you said about doctors working private I think you have done the right thing complaining someone told me before if I was really struggling to phone straight for an ambulance and bypass 111 and maybe the paramedics could back you up and I know there are great people who work in the NHS but I've personally lost all faith in the system I really hope they phone you back soon with news and you get back to feeling better take care xx
Thanks and I'm sorry to hear you're going through a similar thing. I honestly lost faith in the NHS back in 2012 when I first got ill and they treated me so badly. This is the first time I've really needed then since getting out of hospital in 2015 and I had hoped to have my faith restored but sadly not. The private sector is where they make their money (and a lot of it at £5k per op!) so you can't really blame them, but if they're employed by NHS they should put those patients first. I wouldn't like to take up an ambulance when someone else might really need it but I'm close to getting myself admitted and refusing to leave. Here's hoping we both get the treatment we need soon! X
It makes me so mad that you are in so much excruciating pain and are expected to wait that length of time Fiona. I would call an ambulance and just refuse to leave until they have done the procedure. You have been through so much before and its unacceptable the way you are being treated. Yes definitely complain and demand another surgeon. ❤❤❤❤
Hi Peter. Your comment on my B&M haul has disappeared (youtube does that sometimes). Can you reply here telling me what it was so I can answer you please? X
Hi Fiona, I’m sorry to hear this I hope you somehow do get the operation sooner than that, I can’t pretend to understand all of what you said about the medical stuff so I have no advice I just hope you feel better. I know how it feels to feel totally hopeless about because of situations. I saw you are going on exciting road trip so i hope that is after this vlog and your feeling a bit better. I hope Abby and Lewis had a great time at braehead, I’ve been there before its fun. I hope Brooke enjoyed youth cafe and has a good time with her cousin, at least they are still getting to do stuff try not to worry. I had to speak to my GP on the phone today it was nervous I’ve also been at my friends house today first time I’ve been at my friends house since Coronavirus and actually in a really long anyway before that Sending you lots of love 💗 xxx
Thanks Sophie. Yes the road trip was after that vlog and I was really sore and unwell most of the time but it was worth it. You'll see why in my next vlog! I get nervous too talking to my doctor on the phone but well done for doing it, and fir going to your friends house. It's good to push yourself outside your comfort zone now and then. I hope you enjoyed it x
god Bless you Fiona, I hate seeing you like this, Im hoping that te doctors will change their mind and push you forward for your op, I dont blame you for not going home until you get your op, The weather there looks lovely, its been awful here in Liverpool for the last few days but we are lucky we havent had the gales that they had in the south of England xx
Aw thanks, I hope so too! The weather has turned now but it was great to have a couple of weeks of sunshine, it's more than we usually get up here 🤣. Yeah I heard about the terrible gales they had x
I feel your pain Fiona, having had similar experience in the past (different problem) but same wait. I insisted on seeing the consultant and basically broke down in the room with him there! I was admitted the same day! I’m not saying that would work with all consultants but worth a try. Please keep calling the secretary every day and your doctor so you are on their minds constantly!!! It’s disgusting you are being made to wait this long, also chase up the complaints department daily too, I really hope you get someone to do something. Also when the pain gets so bad go to A&E ideally by ambulance and keep a record of everything too, big hugs xxx💕
Thanks susie. It sucks doesn't it? I don't think the surgeon is at work often enough for me to go in and see him lol. Every time I've tried the secretary it just rings out, not even a voicemail! My doctor has been fab with me, really patient and helpful. I still haven't even had an acknowledgement email from complaints so they will be getting another complaint next week lol. The hospital is an hour away do I'm not sure about turning up at a&e in case they send me straight back home! X
Really sorry to hear that you are still in so much pain and the doctor's don't seem to be in any rush to get you booked in for your operation anytime soon I hate to see you so upset and I can't do anything to help it's time they paid attention to the patients and how they feel and covid hasn't helped things either with many important operations and treatments being postponed or cancelled because of covid patients taking up the hospital beds etc but other patients should also be important not just covid ones I guessed that Brooke was back through in camelon as I saw Brooke on wed night she was outside the hall with Millie when I was going into the dancing
Thanks fiona. They're using Covid as an excuse for everything and it's not on. I don't think they've handled it all very well at all considering the Nightingale hospital was set up and never used! Yes brooke enjoyed being through x
Yes they still do it but my stone is too big and it would take too many treatments to break it down. They need to actually blast the stone with a laser inside my kidney rather than outside my body. My hubby had lithotrypsy and said it was really painful so I'm glad that's not what I'm getting haha. Thanks x
@@OurCRAZYLifeScotland yes it is very painful ..I remember lying down being blasted and nurse saying you sure you OK as I kept saying turn it up ..was determined to get it rid off ..kidney stone is worst pain I've had Fiona so understand the frustration and upset you feel it's very unfair that your having to wait so long .bless you lovely lady xx
Not good news about your op. Maybe by now you've heard back from them. As you said there must be another consultant to stand in when he's on hol. You certainly want it done now before you have any complications by it being left in too long. Btw you're wee blanket is nice and colours are lovely.xx
So sorry to see you so distressed. However consultants are entitled to leave and they are able to do what they want in that time, including paid work just like anyone else. It seems that the Urology dept are struggling to cover his leave, and at the moment with staff shortages due to Covid cases amongst staff it must be a nightmare. If the pain is really unbearable and it’s affecting your mental as well as physical health present to A&E urgently. Hope you get sorted quickly x
Thanks Janet. I know they're entitled to leave but, as with any industry, the NHS should ensure there is enough cover for work to continue at an appropriate level when they are on leave. If you look at most companies management will refuse leave if there is not adequate cover. I also agree that they can do what they want when they are on leave, however it seems unethical that people are left in pain because they don't have the money to go private. If a surgeon works for the NHS those patients should be given priority. The NHS was set up to ensure equality of health care for everyone so I don't think they should allow their staff to prioritise private patients. Having only 1 person capable of performing surgery for a common ailment in such a large health board is clearly inadequate and does not leave any contingency for issues such as covid. Basically what I'm saying is that the NHS as an organisation are failing people like me, not the individual consultants. The last time I was admitted I made it clear how much it was affecting my physical and mental health and they told me that it made no difference to them. That doesn't give me any confidence that me travelling an hour to a&e would result in anything other than being sent away! I'm sure you can appreciate my frustration, especially when I was assured I would be treated within a month and I'm still in this amount of pain 2 months later! X
Fiona I'm so sorry to see you suffering I thought nhs was back to normal obviously not I can't believe when one surgeon is on holiday there isn't another one that can do the op Maybe contact your msp or the Scottish health minister ? It's tiring but the more doors you hammer on the quicker they will let you in You are not moaning just being honest nothing wrong with that Take care 💐 x
That's true, I might look into which politician I can contact. I think its crazy that there's only 1 surgeon and nobody to cover him too! Thanks, I just try to be positive on my channel but its real life and sometimes I need to share the downs as well as the ups! X
