i just realized, in a way this kind of feels like if Vi and Powder/Jinx had grown up in better place then the UnderCity in Arcane. only in here Ruby is less insecure about her ability's to be useful and help others.
I think one of my favorite things about this AU is that Ruby and Yang have a visible relationship. You can definitely see that Yang started taking on more of a Motherly role as they got older. It's like she goes from following Ruby around and being more of a big sister beat up the bully's type to growing more into a mentor/mother role. As the trio grows older you can see Yang seems to ease into more of a calmer figure that let's Ruby explore and grow on her own but is always ready to step in if necessary. Like the shot of her and Ruby on the ship I'm assuming she's just laid back but has a sense of awareness like she's ready to jump into action at the drop of a hat but isn't looking for action. It also seems like Ruby has adjusted to the dynamic as well, going to and interacting with Yang rather than Tai more and more as they got older. Her and Penny seem to have taken on the sister roles much more with Yang being the one forced to mature far quicker to compensate for Tai's departure emotionally in the parent role despite only being two years older.
I love the subtle details! From Beacon's motto: United in Light, to the comic of the Goodwitch Sisters setting up Glynda's family and the civilian perspective on Huntresses/Huntsmen and even just the people at the funeral being teachers it all shows this forward planning and attention to detail that, for all its charm, the original frequently lacked. This is more than a promising start, and I can't wait for the next!
I'm mesmerized by the eyes, they pop so we'll, it's nice how Yang's eyes are a hot pink blend instead of a hard switch between purple and red. Ruby's Silver eyes having this glitter in them is also awesome.
This did not disappoint, I love how it mixes art, music, and narration to tell the story. And it is interesting to have Ruby and Yang as friends of Penny before they started at Beacon, like a trio situation of friends.

Oh this was great, lots of time-skips in this episode, but still enough to understand what’s going on. Just like you said. I actually like the idea of Ruby and Penny being childhood friends. I also like how you made Yang more of a sister to Ruby then she is currently in the actual show.
I really liked the speech on losing; it reminded me of Ozpin's speech n fear, as both feel really more personal on what those feelings mean beyond the surface. Also, babi Penny was adorable. ^_^
So if Penny is still an Android in this AU, then there are 3 possible possibilities: 1.) They pull a FNAF, where Penny's conscious gets uploaded into new, slightly older version of herself every so often. 2.) Pietro has to augment her body constantly to make her "age". 3.) She can organically age so she could be more of a cyborg really.

I really like this. Maybe it’s the music, but this has a very sleek, late 90’s coming of age sci-fi vibe; like if Buffy The Vampire Slayer had a baby with Starship Troopers (the book, not the movie).
Whilst I have my issues with the creator of RWBY: Remnants, I will say that this is definitely a VERY interesting take on Ruby and Yang's childhood with the addition of Penny. So I'm definitely a little intrigued to see what will become of this!

Sounds like something you'd listen to while walking down an old brick path under the yellow light of old street lamps, with hole-in-the-wall shops and pubs flanking you on both sides. Mysterious, contemplative. Cozy, in a way.
