if the parts used are safe then real or fake is not a problem for me. you don't become a great drifter without making mistakes and destroying parts. so using cheaper parts makes sense until you get good. if you are competing in a comp then scrutineers should be checking the car for safety before the event and aslong as it passes then real/rep parts shouldn't matter. banning rep parts is just elitist people trying to gatekeep the sport for themselves
As someone who's still very outside of the drift scene this subject seems very silly , everyone should be able to have fun with what they can bring . Idk 🤷♂️
There are 2 different kinds of rep too. There are the rep's that care about quality(Rota for example), and change the design a little bit just to make it more affordable, and then there are cheaply made reps like maxspeedingrods. If it's purely cosmetic like a body kit, go for it, who cares if people don't like your kit, most people just care if it looks good or not, not which brand. Also 8:40 more people need to understand this shit. Not all cars make 1000hp, not everyone can afford to run a 1000hp car even if they had it, and no one can improve if events aren't opened up to beginners. Near me I get a few chances a year to drift unless I want to drift at a more competitive level for money. And drifting is expensive. Event ticket, sometimes a trailer, tires, etc. + lets not forget all the safety equipment you need to have which is costly. Drifting is already so expensive just to get into, and now they want you to have a nice looking car at every track(USA too). My car has 30k+ under the hood, suspension, etc. I have a stock body because I never cared about it looking the best, but now some tracks require your car too look like a full on racecar for events. I get not wanting clapped civics and stuff for events and shows, but it also limits the sick cars that don't have cool body kits. It's making it into more of an art gallery than what real car enthusiasts enjoy, the power train and driver skill
The thing is I’m a budget man, if something works for me I’ll just use it until it breaks. We all love real parts sometimes us people aren’t to focus on having the best thing out there. we genuinely try to get it slowly. No doubt Real is the only way
It's my dream to one day go to Japan and meet all the small work shops that make these parts and tell them. I'm such a big huge fan that I have bought counterfeits of everything they make.
Its drifting/motorsport. Its expensive and damage will happen. Not everyone can afford to even do it but scrape by. Being affordable, well maintained and well prepped is key. Style points? Who honestly cares?
Style is 90% of drifting thou, drift is alot more fun to watch when the cars that are throwing down look gangster but on the same note if you can only afford rep wheels ans still make your car look gangster that's cool too
The way I will consider rep vs no rep is in 2 senses; name brand vs china special, first to coin the design. example would be volk rays TE37s vs enkei t6s vs the no name tyre shop special. for the volks and the enkeis your ok, I am happy to consider both those options as genuine wheels, although enkei didn't make the design they are allowed to copy it and still be called genuine. For your no name china special -- come let me show you to the bin. I would rather a name brand clone wheel over some random corners cut wheel.

Good idea.
You think ??
@BuiltByKyle yeah,.also a lot of cars on real wheels gave fake bodykits.

Some events however I get it. Bring the best of the best out but as a whole just get out with your buddies and have a laugh.
@@stylepoints.180so funny that your name is Stylepoints 😂 no offence meant but just funny.
