Thanks, Colin. 1) My curiosity about the bike stands was with regard to the ones that are in a long line in between each of the Regent Road Cut-throughs, not the two-tier rack under the shelter. They are smallish balustrade-like stands at 90d to the wall and are of the same build as the 8 that can be seen on the West Quay. You can just about see them at 9:38 mins. 2) You'll have to chance your luck again with the nelson Dock Seagulls if you want to focus on the 4 Wind Baffles that have been installed at 90d to the brick facade at the SW corner, seen here at 12:37 mins.
I did wonder if it was those when I watched it back and spotted them along the wall, and have to say I have never noticed them before on the small screen but will endeavour to get a better look. SW corner wind baffles will probably be for someone else to show😀 it means walking right along regent road to get a decent signal that low down and I’m too lazy for that 😂
@@cp-overview Re: Bike stands, Ok. Re: baffles, Ok, but I was surprised by the end of the last sentence as it's not an attribute I'd imagined. You had them in sight as you were anyway, even if not square on. Best wishes.
@@cp-overview Colin, it's not a matter of life-and-death (and not yours!). I was only highlighting it if you want to have a discussion point, that's all. They weren't in the plans so it may be a 'new feature' to some. FYI, the door in the middle of them is the Access to the Stewards' facilities.
I'm guessing the way the water channel will be filled is by releasing some of the plugs under the south end bridge, and just leaving the heavy gravel 'dam' at the north end to be excavated after it's full. From drawings (and they may not be accurate), the 'worst' seats in SE and SW corner sections at the back by the wall *should* be able to see the opposite corner flag as the goal line will be to their left (in the west stand) or right (in the east) pretty much in line with the steps up from under the stand that serves that section. I'm not 100% convinced that this is the case, we'll have to wait and see.
aq: Re the water channel, I'm inclined to agree with that guess. The manholes on the South Isolation Bridge are for access to pumps/valves below, which line up with the pipes that are exposed to the North Side of it. I think the 'plugs' are an extra measure for a few that may have got faulty valves and are allowing water to pass them already. Since they blocked off those pipes and filled sand in the space, they have been pumping fresh water from Nelson Dock along the side of the future Water Channel to a tank where it's aerated before being discharged down a pipe that dispatches the water between the rock dam and the Northern Isolation Bridge and thence under that bridge into Sandon Half-Tide Dock (Seawater). Before they started sand-filling the basin, the valves in the Southern Isolation Bridge, were set to allow the natural passage demand of the back up of freshwater in Nelson Dock and from the canals etc to the exit into seawater at Sandon and beyond to the Liverpool Freeport. However, there are alternative ways to let water in: 1) Re-position the pump effluent pipe so that they dump the water to the south of the dam rather than the north of it, before the dam is removed, or 2) As they will at some point have to remove that dam, it's possible that they might make a very small breach at the top to allow it to back flow from Sandon, according to the Half-Tide movements. We shall have to wait and see which method they choose, or even a mix of them.
Funny , I've been wondering the same thing - I presume that there must be some kind of base layer to contain the water in what will be a kind of canal . Great video as always Colin - many thanks to you & all your fellow droners ( is that even a word ? ) 😀
Gary: no, there is no need for any lining. It's just a layer of clean sand sitting on the old dock basin which has bedrock underneath. The West Plaza are is sealed/waterproofed by the Seacant wall between the curved old dock walls with the addition of the concrete 'plug at the bottom of the Seacant Wall, which acts like sealant in your bathroom.
Those adjacent dock gates at 1:00 never seem to open. The first one has what looks like two drums and a filler piece in the middle any ideas? The pitch has a black membrane which I assume stops water passing through 9upmor down) so how does the water drain of the pitch I never saw any pipes being laid David? Craig said Everton own the land with the dockers clock on it it would be great to see that refurbished even with modern mechanism clocks
Colin, I asked almost every droner about the dockwall. No answers. Than couple of months ago it was visible everywhere. Plaza, West terrace and in front of the South stand. Will it be under the pitch or visible? Hope you can tell me. Great video again mate by the way ❤
Jurgen: The stretch along the south side of the pitch will be buried by the pitchside layers build up. There is meant to be a small area in the NE corner of the internal concourse where there is to be a feature of the wall but I haven't seen any footage of that. The old Granite Coping stones will be plainly seen on all the Plazas, including under the mezzanine area.
@@jurgenvoogt1638 It won't be pitch per se but pitch-side, which will probably be artificial grass on a hard sand, I guess, much as you can see already at GP. If you browse for the video, "ACCESS GOODISON, Everton progress in Carabao Cup" and take note of the pitch-side, you can see how it's so and the degree of camber too.

Don’t really want to focus on negatives, the height difference won’t change anytime soon and to be honest the movement joint covers didn’t seem to stand out so much today so may have simply settled down. Just don’t want to take anything away from what has been an excellent build.
Very good, CP. It's nice you caught it in the sunshine.

Toungue in cheek reply😂 but if I can get them without walking I will give it a go, it’s signal issues on that corner.

thanks for the voice over Colin & the great video, but that pitch has so many layers & so complicated, im amazed at the complexity of it.
It’s really good to see how one is constructed, I have seen plenty of pitches relaid but never one built from scratch
Thanks for the vid, they are finishing the away stand seats.

I think that waterway is going to become a swimming pool at some point lol
Don't think the seagull issue is anything to do with nesting as they only breed between May-July. Think they just don't like drones
I hear you on this one mate haha
Many thanks for the update, super footage. I'm guessing the base of the waterway will have lining?
Cheers Gary

Don’t forget, where the water channel will be was a dock full of water just over 3 years ago - it doesn’t need lining!

When this one will be opened?
Hello. Opened for next season (beginning August 2025). There must be "test events" before this, having a smaller crowd. Welcome to our town.
We was told on the tour that the test events would start in January but I don’t know if that is still the case.

David?

Craig is wrong, it’s owned by Peel.
The water under the pitch will be reused for irrigation and under soil heating 👍🏻
There were large Black pipes laid around the edge for the drainage, it was one of the first things to go in when they started on the pitch

Is that a bit of a worry that big dip in the roof could be a safety issue
Not at all, they said it was well within the expected movement and is exactly what expansion/movement joints are for
