    There is a simple solution for the Kop extension which I have commented on previously. Walton Breck Road behind the Kop is always put forward as the major obstacle to any Kop expansion, but its a simple solution to divert the road to through the land where the Church and Park pub are located. This diversion can be on a permanent or temporay basis while the Kop is buult over the current line of the road before reopening it. The road is definitely not too wide to build over, its a simple solution. LFC already own most of the land opposite the Kop. The staging area for such works is the area of vacant land behind the Main Stand. I would suggest a 4 tier car park be built over the Stanley Road car park also.

    The Kop and the SKD were always going to be redeveloped. Its just a matter of time. Everyone said the Main Stand couldn't be done, thwn we did it. Then we were told the ARE couldn't be done, then we did that too.
    Times change. Obstacles can and will be overcome. Looking at the surrounding areas, the Kop is clearly the next logical redevelopment step. It would be fantastic to make it the biggest rail-seated end in world football.
    We thankfully committed to staying at our world famous home, so it deserves nothing less than continual improvement.

    Great work... Agree we shouldn't pressure families to leave but we could pay significantly over the value to encourage them..... Or pay a figure and also buy them an alternative house to help move them quicker. At the end of the day a huge Kop would cover this extra outlay.

    Great work GB lad. Makes 100% sense to upgrade both stands, but the Kop is the easiest to complete in my opinion. It might cost north of 100 mill, maybe even 200 mill. We all know the valus of the club will most likely increase by 500 mill, so makes financial sense to the money men at the club. Let the planning committee start to plan, and add another 5000 seats.

      Adding 5000 seats for 100m doesn’t make any sense lol. It has to be at least 9000 seats. Kop should be the biggest single tier stand in England.

    Looking at the vacant land opposite the club shop, & up to the terraced houses where home baked is. It looks like they are planning to divert Walton Breck Road. So from where the vacant land that starts at Burleigh Road South to the vacant houses at home baked, looks possible they diverting like they did with Annie Road stand. Just would need to obtain the church or move the church. Obviously once the road is moved or plans in place for that they possibly works are begin to remove & rebuild the Kop

    The problem is -- and always has been -- that you get one muppet who thinks they can make a fortune by refusing to sell until the very last minute (even though they don't want to live there) and will hold the club to ransom. The more fans publicise this "Isle of Man" scheme, the more zeros that are added on to the sale price of the last house.

    • @syedshah9836
      @syedshah9836 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

      Very good point, however you only pay what the value of the property is. After all everything will be given a value after the properties are surveyed. Once there is a value, then maybe add another 50k or buy the current owners a bigger 3 or 4 bed house, down the road and refurbish the property. Personally I think the club should double the value of the current properties and watch them fly out of the oven like hot cakes.

    With the spare land available not directly within the footprint of an expanded Kop, then relocating the business, homes and church seems relatively easy. The road could be then diverted like Anfield Road and the Kop extended in one large tier backwards.

  • @Sobbayi
    @Sobbayi 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    With a bit of creativity the road is an easy fix. It can be excavated and lowered then covered up with pre-fabricated panels to save downtime. That will leave so much ground level space to expand the cop. Its been done in several countries so I don't see why not

    Any rebuild to the Kop would need a whole new roof design and for the roof to be lifted upwards so when you are on back row, you get a brilliant view of rest of stadium. It is like a post box in sections 304 to 306 currently.

    I still remember those two old Dears in the street from the old
    Kemlyn Road who refused to move. I think we waited until one passed away.
    If they can re-route the traffic, they could do ‘something’ I’ve just watched The Overlap, with Rafa on and he makes that problem LFC have had for 35 years…Man Utd get 75,000 per home game…we are catching up, but from 89 we were 44,000…add that fan money up from then to now, we could have built a new Stadium…
    I was always up for that idea of Both LFC/EFC building a San Siro with 100k attendance. The thousands of fans who used to wake up on a Saturday and decide to go the match!
    The clubs were up for it, but fanbase’s rubbished it!
    One thing I would say, it would have to be like the Main Stand, it wouldn’t be right if they two tiered it…
    I’ve been saying it for years…the money we’ve lost must be Billions next to Man U…

    I think the intention had always been to upgrade all 4 stands.
    Now, with 2 of the 4 stands having had their upgrade completed its really just a question of do they do stages 3 & 4 together in order to get it all done or do they simply continue to do a stand at a time.
    And, there's something saying to me at the back of my mind that especially given the fact that while redeveloping each of the two stands already done both construction companies Carillion and The Buckingham Group went into administration.
    So, I think it's better to just err on the side of caution given the current financial climate.

    What about building the corners, higher, which means remove the bar and have other way of supporting the roofs.
    And Kop can be built, by having it higher where Albert Pub is, going down towards Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand/SkerriesRoad.
    I would like to get the corner built, that would give us another at least 5000 and a higher Kop end, near Main stand, would give another thousand, maybe 2-3000. Then we would have almost 70 000.
    YNWA

    • @hansskaaning-gnge7841
      @hansskaaning-gnge7841 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Another thing the can do is building KDS, more to Skerries Rd, on pillars, increasing the upper tier, with about 2-3000, as high as Main stand or ARE. That means Anfield would take more than 70 000, which means we can hold UCL finals etc there.
      The can still park cars there, like today, but underneath. As far as I know, Sun comes from the south, and KDS is northwest of the houses. Won't shade their gardens.
      If one goes northeast from Anfield, along Utting Ave, to the railway, to Ayrshire rd/Hildebrand Rd - Cherry Lane, they can build a train station there, open during matches, which is close enough, allowing us to expand Anfield.

    I really hope they consider how to tackle the extra fans at the end of matches. I'm still able to whiz back to a car park space about a mile and a half away from the ground but there are thousands extra fans streaming into the nearby streets. I'm not saying build a tram because that infrastructure is crazy but what would be really easy to achieve is a multi layer electric bus/tram route that underneath the expanded Kop area would give people an initial getaway straight down Walton Breck the way people walk and then at least there is order for fans queuing other than the buses.
    You can't expect LCC to allow expanding any further until the club has a solution for improving the infrastructure.
    It's not just transport, it's water. Anyone my age will well remember the Kop Sewer collapse. They have to ensure they consider infrastructure and I'm pretty sure the council will be working with them on that. If it's to get a further 1-2k fans in the Kop end they wouldn't do it. If it's to create another area for fans to arrive and maximise the tourism with cafes and bars underneath the expanded stand - then they know they'll get a return. I just hope they provide community rooms and give first choice for local businesses so they benefit from the increase footfall. Unfortunately, for me selfishly, it slowly removes the pint and into the Kop routine I've always had. But I'm a minority in their fan profile now as they want people to spend money in the ground.
    Great topic and it's all in the distance as you quite rightly mention.

There looks to be about 70 houses in the 3 rows behind SKD and i know it's families homes with memories etc but everyone has their price and if i was offered a million pound i would take it. £70-100m acquiring them isn't that much and the redeveloped stand would add that value to the club.

    the trick was missed when building the main stand, it should have been built 20 yards further back from the pitch, then the Kop could have been extended by moving 20 yards across the pitch towards the new main stand since the road isn't a problem at that side of the Kop (knocked down the super store incorporate the pub under the stand). The Annie road stand was being rebuilt so likewise. An additional 20 yards means that the SKD could be moved forwards 20 yards and effectively "back" 20 yards and not encroach on the Skerries Road houses by retaining its present boundary. By doing this the corners could have been filled in to look great and not such random clusterf*** like today. The result would be a 75,000 seater Anfield - yes one stand at a time out of action per season, but after 3 seasons, job done and 75,000 super Anfield.

      I'm not sure the planners would have allowed such a big stand to be closer to the houses on Alroy Road. The main stand is much bigger than the KDS and so needs to be set further back from the houses on Alroy Road to avoid it having an overbearing impact on the outlook of those dwellings. Likewise, any increase in height to the KDS would have an overbearing impact on the rear outlook and amenity space of the houses on Skerries Road. They also suffer from overshadowing as they are sited directly to the east of the KDS and so have lost all the sun in the afternoon.

    I guess a Kop expansion will not possibly happen until the 2030's and the Sir Kenny Stand pribably by the 2040's.Either way plans and current thinking will probably alter several times over the next few years.id love the Kop to gow in size so it holds and replicates the yellow wall in Dortmund.i gess that would have to see it become steeper, taller and deeper in its depthThe new Kop needs to be capable of holding at least 20,000 seats so we need to add a further 8 000 to its current capacity.i guessxthis woukd need the shops, church,pubs and even the store shop needing to be demolished , which is the easy part to a Kop expansion, more difficult is the Walton Breck Road , can it be rerouted, woukd LCC allow this peesonally i dont think this should be a issue or problem and woukd be cheaper than tunnelling the road.If the reduction of the capaciry of the Sir Lenny is reduced over the next couple of years to facilitate extra leg room in the lower sir kenny and more modinised larger concurse favilities then this probably woukd reduce the cspscity of that stand by a couple of thousand seats and Anfield current capacity woukd drop to about 59,000 in that case the Kop simply has to be extended by 7,000 to 8,000 extra seats ad Anfield and LFC need a ground that can hold at least 66,000 as a bare minimum and i think the club can have a ground of that capacityvsize and fall within the current LCC guidlines re planning permission without having to upgrade the road network, transportation needsv( rail or trams) and increased and improved car parking facilities.If this can be acheived in the next 7 to 8 years then the club can finally look at the expansion of the Sir Kenny Stand so it replicates the size and capacity of the Main Stand as a mirror image and in turn add a further 9,000 seats to the ground capacity taking it to 75,000 which is the uze of a ground Liverpool should be operating with and could easily sell out with still a long and sizable season ticket wauting list.If this is to happen and be a project for the late 2030's or 2040's then hopefully by that time Anfield will have seen th neccessary redevelopment of the srea with better road and rail links etc and the houses in Skerries Road will all be under the ownership of Liverpool FC who could then generously move residents into other properties in the local area and demolish the houses in Skerries Road so allowing for the expansion of the Sir Kenny stand so it does hold and mirror the Main Stand andthe ground csn be symetrically a lot more pleasing on the eye with all 4 stands bevof a similar size. Lots to do and plan and we may have new owners and this take a further 25 to 20 years to do and complete but these plans should be part of the clubs log term ambitions and sitting with LCC so that it can form part of the council long term regeneration plan for the Anfield residential and commercial district

    Three thoughts:
    One: what's possible in terms of pure engineering when it comes to just building the Kop seating and roof back from its current footprint? To what extent can such a structure be supported by things like strong foundations and struts etc? ie, does any building even NEED to be done in terms of extending the footprint?
    Two: The present stand isn't adjacent to the road. Why not build back so that the entire stand is adjacent, and therefore no longer symmetrical? You could raise the roof and put additional rows where possible (ie more and more as you go towards the Main Stand). That's actually quite a big area. Probably enough for 4-5k more seats (a total rebuild would probably only yield about 8k anyway - much more isn't really feasible for an end stand. For those worried about aesthetics: the roof can be made low enough (as it is right now) that the asymmetry is never actually seen from inside the ground.
    Three: what's the deal with planning? The issue with going above ~60k was always traffic/transport - is there any fundamental change in that area? Or is this all just wishful thinking?

    The perfect way they should of done it instead of buying out all the houses and streets. Played at Anfield and built the new stadium on Stanley park the Kop directly behind Anfield Road Stadium and the main stadium on Arkles Road. Then knock down the old stadium keeping some of the stadium standing like the coaches boxes and goals and kop for heritage purposes, food stalls and LFC shop and turned it into a gathering area for supporters before kickoff.
    You got to buy out 3 rows of houses to expand SKD stand and buy off the road behind the kop and church to expand that also, waste of money and we still don’t have a stadium as big as MU or Arsenal.
