  • Final Part#5 of my Air Suspension Fault fix for my Range Rover L322:
Today I tried something that I have been meaning to do for 18months, a little modification to the steering angle sensor which has now fixed my Air Suspension Inactive Fault !
    Episode #4:
I remove the tricky steering angle sensor showing the best positions and tools to access. Open up the steering angle and find out whats the issue !
    In Episode #3:
If you cannot clear the fault with iCarsoft or diagnostics, then it's likely you have a hardware issue, in this episode I investigate further and perform a full strip down of the compressor to replace the piston ring. This is a common issue where a worn piston seal can result in the compressor running on too long, over heating and triggering 'Air Suspension Inactive Fault' on your dashboard. Will replacing the piston ring clear the dash fault !
IN THE NEXT EPISODE#4 I STRIP DOWN THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR, WILL THS FIX IT !?
    Previous Episode #2:
    • iCarsoft on Range Rove...
If you have a warning of 'Air Susp - Inactive' on your Range Rover L322 and you cannot clear it by turning steering wheel from lock to lock, I go deeper into the diagnostic with iCarsoft to understand what other items are linked and can cause the fault, ABS, and Steering Angle Sensor.
    Previous Episode #1
    • iCarsoft on Range Rove...
Found and cleared codes using iCarsoft.

I had a similar problem with the steering sensor causing a suspension fault. It was fixed by re-doing the tracking as the steering wheel was slightly off centre.

I have a 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 L320 which was showing error "HDC fault" after driving a few minutes and via ODBC reader it was code "C1B00 Steering angle sensor signal plausibility failure". Followed this video to do RR Sport. It was very similar, remove 13mm nut and bolt holding column to rack and 4 x Torx bolts to remove steering column, then 3 small bolts holding sensor in place. I bought a second hand SR0500110 sensor for £90 on eBay (the RR Sport one is different to the one in this video, it has gears inside and no mechanical brushes and I couldn't see any worn parts but replaced whole sensor anyway). A brand new sensor is available online but it's £350!!! Anyway I replaced the whole sensor and at first it seemed to have failed, I got HDC fault again this time telling me "suspension fault vehicle lean when cornering"!!! I plugged in my Hawkeye ODBC reader and this showed me the problem was that the new sensor had not been paired to the vehicle. It allowed me to pair the new sensor by doing a steering angle sensor recalibration and hey presto, all good now, no more HDC fault codes woohoo. Thanks so much for this video!!!

I took my sensor off yesterday after watching your 4 part series. I cleaned and refitted the sensor but no joy. So I’m waiting for the second hand part to arrive.
I have the icarsoft V3.0. If I have to recalibrate the sensor do you know if the icarsoft can do this ?
Thanks for the videos. I’ve watched all your Range Rover content. Keep em coming as they’re greatly appreciated and confidence building. Well for me anyway. 🙏👍

hi thanks for the kind words and supporting my videos! I am so disappointed for you that your sensor did not work after you took all that effort to remove. I bent the brushes down a little before putting back. Were yours worn? So you've also tried to calibrate with steering wheel left and right full? I do not recall my icarsoft able to calibrate but it did clear the codes.

@@GrooveOn The contact was worn quite bad. I did try and bend the contact up slightly but I think it was too worn. I’ll get the replacement fitted (using the original circuit board and new contacts) and if the icarsoft can’t recalibrate the sensor I’ll take it to a mechanic friend. 🤞👍

The zf tranmission is actually great. Change the shift solenoids at your fluid service and the thing keeps going. My ‘06 has 335,000 (mostly Tennessee) MILES and still my daily driver. Same transmission used by BMW by the way.

    • @GrooveOn

fair point, however I find it strange you need to change the solenoids, I guess I am used to my Mercedes auto box on my SL that I just leave alone

@@GrooveOn sorry you had problems man- I have found that the small filter screens on the solenoids get clogged up and causes pressure problems. I have not confirmed if cleaning them would fix the problem as I have always just put a new set in- which runs about 350 for the solenoids.

I’ve done the same job, it was a complete pig to get to that. Did the “top swop”, still had to code the SAS back to the ECU/BCM either way, so I might as well have replaced the whole thing. But it’s been working fine since then

hi friend, I have the same problem with the steering angle sensor and furthermore the electric steering doesn't work but the column motors work by giving power with 2 wires, but without it there doesn't seem to be any power, do you know what the problem could be? I thank you in advance

Nice tutorial. 1. Some say there is some kinda pinch nut there, your video didn't show it. 2. There are brushes sold, do you think its good idea to buy the brushes and replace them into the old SAS?

    • @GrooveOn
      @GrooveOn  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

You can see the pinch bolt at 7mins in on the removal stage. If you can get brushes then go for it, I bought a used one as I couldn't find them when I checked.

Hello, I have also replaced my steering angle sensor but unfortunately made a big mistake and did not convert the electronics.
After starting with the new sensor, I now have various problems with failure of the electronics.
No climate, multimedia, speedometer everything stays off. Even the key is no longer recognised...
Does anyone have any helpful tips? I have already tried a battery reset...

You need to pair the new sensor to the vehicle. If you have a Hawkeye ODBC reader that lets you do it otherwise you'll need to take the vehicle to a dealer for them to do it...

I have a 2006 rrs supercharged... My car was fine and out of boredom i selected calibrate anti roll option then i got e 7 error code and my red suspension light is on... Everything still works ie suspension goes up an down etc but now the red light stays on and fault code C 1 A00-54 - Control module - System programming failure - missing calibration (AB)... 😮... Any advice please 🙏

Sounds like you've gone into a calibration loop. This can happen if you use a non-Land Rover Diagnostic tool, the toloerances are very small. Try going into manufacturing freeze mode through your diagnostic and follow the instructions,.
