I just finished a Regency reddingote done up for daily wear as a winter coat. I used 120's wool suiting for the shell and linen for the lining. It's not a period fabric but I like the way it looks. The pattern is based on a cross front spencer pdf pattern from Laughing Moon with a panel skirt added to the bottom. (I highly recommend Laughing Moon patterns.) The hem comes to just above my ankles. It weighs a ton but I love it anyway. The entire reddingote is handstitched. I didn't think I would ever get finished. Now it's done just in time for cold weather to be over. 😂
Yay for the men!! 😊👍 The women's fashion of that time, however... One false move, and the girl looks pregnant. 😔 Which is fine when you ARE, but if not... 🙄
This look really suits you, your taste and your tailoring are impeccable. Regency (meaning 1810-1820 when the regency actually took place) is my favourite period for men’s fashion. I think it’s the most flattering, the most romantic and the sexiest. It’s also a fantastic time for architecture, particularly the English country house in the classical style. Of course, very few could afford to live or dress like this. But we can all fantasise that had we lived then we’d be wealthy, healthy and dashing, enjoying the landscape and not working the land or wounded in war.
Extremely fascinated with different styles of classic gentlemenswear. Not sure which Era to start with but your vids are the vibes i picture in my minds image. Keep up the good work. Classy, as always. Cheers.💪🏾👌🏾
An excellent job on both the Regency clothing and the video. It’s a fascinating era. I do some military reenactment of that era in the states. My wife, who is an excellent seamstress, made my entire uniform so I can really appreciate the work that goes into what you have done. Keep up the good work. I do enjoy your channel.
This is so ethereal, and I love that I got to see the whole creation process of the outfit. Keep loving what you do and the rest will turn out amazing!
Great video. I think I've said it before, but I'll say it again: these videos deserve many more views than they get. The production quality is very high, and the content is superb. If only vintage menswear wasn't such a niche subject...
It was an inspired choice including Ms. Nadiiife in your video. She positively glowed. Thank you for including her direction in your video, I've already checked it out and subscribed. She has a lovely voice and wonderful sense of style that is unique to her. I so admire you ability to sew and adapt patterns. Not all of us are so gifted:) The outfit does not impress me as a costume more as very reasonable adaptation and believable clothing.
Dein Beitrag ist nicht nur sehr gut, er hat auf mich auch eine unglaublich wohltuende Wirkung in diesen Zeiten. Als Bursche kannst Du Dich kaum mehr bezeichnen, das ist eindeutig Master !
You did a wonderful job on all the pieces. The overall effect is stunning. I really liked the waistcoat, the color is so vibrant. The lady you were with is beautiful and I'm going to check out her channel now.
You look soooo dashing🤩!! And miss Nadine too, naturally 😊! As I love the look of regency men's wear, this is of course very satisfying. But as I also know that it's a bit demanding to actually wear, I would love to see someone try an adaption to the modern world. The coat for example, wouldn't it look absolutely gorgeous, and very wearable, just with a few changes? Well, that's just an idea. Very well done 😊
I love the pacing, and editing, and general ambience of this! That you can make such a calm and beautiful video but still have levity and humour is super inspiring. Also your taste is great! I've been sleeping on your channel because I don't know a lot about menswear but I'm super happy I gave it a watch!
AH, my heart did flutter! Nice video and you both look amazing. My biggest tailoring project was making my sons Mr.Darcy inspired wedding suit. That's why this video gives me all the feels! My project took nine months. The coat was wool and I made 4 muslins before cutting into my wool. I drafted my own double breasted waistcoat as he had an" idea" in mind. Now, I have been sewing for uh, 40 years but this was tailoring and boy, oh boy, did I learn a lot! I'd like to try it again, now that I know what I am supposed to be doing! But there's not much for the Mother of the Groom to do usually but I just couldn't imagine him any other way on his big day. They are huge Darcy fans. It was super romantic outfit and when they danced it was magic and I got to secretly think (look at what I did there!) :)
I'll be honest, I started drooling when you mentioned the diamond twill as a fabric choice for the trousers. It made my iron-age-costumer-heart beat faster 😁
Male regency fashion looks dashing but I always have the feeling that it flatters a slim figure the most (so not for stout gentlemen like me). And don't get me started on the trousers. I know its twill and not lycra but damn one day I need someone to explain to me how to get the front of the trousers so tight and so flat at certain areas. Give me english civil war era breeches any day. XD
The regency period certainly favored the slim gentleman. In general when we look at specific eras and decades the fashion favors a particular bodytype. The wide cut of the 1930’s looks good on tall and big men but a slim/short man drowns in the drapecut of those suits. The 1920’s slimmer cut also favors Niklas’ body type which maybe is one of the reasons that he likes that period so much.
The final result is gorgeous! I also use Bomull and some of the other ikea fabrics for mockups. I have a huuuuuge amount of it in my stash and I mostly use it for skirts. It's cheap, and decent enough to use for actual wearable pieces if I want to.
Wow. What an accomplishment! Great outfit altogether. It’s such a good looking style for men, too. I fell in love with the recency era after watching the BBC P&P (the one with Colin Firth) in the 90s, too. For my birthday 1997 I got a book about the ‚making of’ that series (stolz vorurteil - die welt der jane austen) which made me fall in love with costume design. BTW, the latest Emma film has such amazing costumes! But I never did anything like that myself. I only started sewing myself in 2015 and my greatest accomplishment is a trenchcoat for myself.
You’re amazing at sewing and tailoring!!! The way you could alter the pattern so significantly and make decisions about where the hand sewing really counts shows how much experience you must have. Maybe it’s just my lack of familiarity with this era but it seems there were so many more details to consider compared to most menswear today
Hey there friend thank you. For sharing this video. I like all your tips and tricks regarding your projects. I look forward to seeing many more videos. Hope you have a great day .
You are both enchanting, the clothing is enchanting, the music, the ambience and Nadine's smile. I love your videos and of course I am subscribed. Thank you for making a rough morning graced by a moment of joyful, quiet reflection.
Wonderful video! Regency is my favorite fashion period. You did an outstanding job on the entire outfit and it seems you enjoyed stepping out of your comfort zone. Bravo!
After I made my own 1830s tailcoat, It is so funny to see how many mistakes I committed by watching you doing your tailcoat. I spent I think 2 months doing it, I searched from a lot of channels that did similar projects including Mrs Nicole Rudolph (My main influence to sew my tailcoat), it was quite difficult in some parts. I saw that you made a mockup first, unfortunately, I didn't, I just measured my body and used it directly to the pattern (It was a huge mistake, but fortunately it got decently fittable to me), and the pattern was also another adventure, I used an original from a book called The Improved Tailors Æra from the 1830s, I had to print it and upscale using a method I invented right on the spot, making little measurements in millimetres between points I made in the lines, and then using two points of my choice to upscale and using the rule of 3, upscale all the other points, very confusing, but worked. (It perhaps counts as a mistake too because there is probably an easier way to do that) And the final and worst mistake was that it was the very first garment I have ever made, just using Nicole Rudolph's videos about the Victorian Gonzo cloth and some rare people that have made this kind of thing. Despite all the headaches I had dealing with all problems I have never had before and solving them because I wanted so much to have an 1830s Tailcoat, I was very happy with the results, very happy, just 1 or two months later I made a black cravat, and I am preparing to make an 1830-1840s Frockcoat... Wish me luck!!!
Ah, I really wanted to see the yellow necktie with the bomull shirt combined with the rest of the outfit. The yellow looks so beautiful with the green waistcoat.
👏👏👏 Beautifully done, as always. You never disappoint. The Regency/Federal period is my fashion era of choice. I wish I could get my husband interested but he hates the high collars. Johnny Flynn that played Mr Knightly in Emma (2020) also complained that his costumes caused chaffing along his cheek and jawline. I suppose for men Regency costumes take a bit of dedication.
It is all flawless! The fabric for the waistcoat is just gorgeous! I don't geberally wear green at all and I still want some. The diamond twill is nice, too. How do you feel about drop front trousers? I found that they took some getting used to.
This is gorgeous! Love the video format, it’s concise but doesn’t leave anything important out (and I’m sure it must have been a bit easier to edit too?) Thank you for your hard work! ☺️
OMG...this is fabulous....you look so fantastic!!!! I also have a pattern for this outfit but I haven't tried it yet. I will have to do a lot of adjustments though, since it is not a woman's outfit. But I really would love to try it. Thanks for yet another wonderful video.
☕☕☕👏👏👏more caffeine and applause for you 😂😂😂loved this video! One day I too shall make myself a regency style outfit... I hope it will look as awesome as yours!
This is other level. Making your clothes. I'm still trying to complete my peaky blinders outfit. Being for me the most difficult, the collar studs and a detachable collar. Had problems with ebay shipments. And here in Mexicali there is nowhere to buy them. Even if I buy a suitable shirt to wear the collar. Where do I get the collar studs. Anyways. Exellent videos. Pure inspiration.
Could you please make a video on the shirt from your book? I can for the life of me not understand how the placket is made. I've been stuck on that piece for a few weeks now.
I do like your videos, style and your sense of humour :). However, I like to know if the shirt, at 1:30, you made where you got the pattern from? Thank you :)
I spend around 90h on the 4 pieces. What was your biggest sewing/tailoring project so far?
uhmm, making a herringbone stitch during embroidery :)
A regency waistcoat.😊

Funnily enough, your round cap. First ever project, took me a week, couldn't be happier about it.
I sew back a button the other day
This is one of the most flattering eras of men's fashion, I think. This is a great look, and the waistcoat is spectacular.
Yay for the men!! 😊👍
The women's fashion of that time, however... One false move, and the girl looks pregnant. 😔 Which is fine when you ARE, but if not... 🙄
The waistcoat...THE WAISTCOAT!!! Gorgeous, gorgeous fabric, and the workmanship to match.
STUNNING !!! That waistcoat fabric made me stop what I was doing & go "Wow!!!"
The entire outfit is stunning. I'm just at a loss for words !
Agreed!
This is really cool. I tend to lean more towards Edwardian style myself, however, I appreciate your attention to the details. Look forward to more.
I tend to be on the 1910s to 1950s. But this is by far my favourite when it comes to others.
Love how this came out. That green fabric is a dream
The jade colored waistcoat is absolutely beautiful 😍 and the video cinematography was charming !
You look fabulous in your gentleman’s attire. It helps that your form and impeccable taste are so well suited to the styles of that era.

I'm just amazed at how you made those trousers they look amazing here man 👌
Sehr beeindruckendes Outfit und sehr geschmackvoll gestaltetes Video.
Both the outfit and the video are pure art.
Great video. I think I've said it before, but I'll say it again: these videos deserve many more views than they get. The production quality is very high, and the content is superb. If only vintage menswear wasn't such a niche subject...

Stunning! The waistcoat is 👌
You two look amazing. Great video.

You did a wonderful job on all the pieces. The overall effect is stunning. I really liked the waistcoat, the color is so vibrant. The lady you were with is beautiful and I'm going to check out her channel now.
This couple belongs in a Jane Austen movie adaptation, absolutely gorgeous both of them.

Wow, you went full on "Bernadette" in this video. Great outfit, btw... to quote Bill Bailey "... Oh, Mr Darcy, u da man!".

You look dashing !
Nadine looks amazing too
Love the outfit but the pantaloons are on another level, amazing.

Dude, incredible work,... and premium filmmaking! SO good
Aaah! I'm so excited! The fabric for the waistcoat is soooo pretty! Well done!
As always- simply stunning. I always come away from your posts learning something new.
Wow. What an accomplishment! Great outfit altogether. It’s such a good looking style for men, too.

The next season of Bridgerton promises to be slightly more serious yet equally stunning
So dashing! I love it. I think your colour scheme works really well.
Hey there friend thank you. For sharing this video. I like all your tips and tricks regarding your projects. I look forward to seeing many more videos. Hope you have a great day .
I am just re-reading Pride and Prejudice, so your video fit perfectly in my current mood! Thank you and stay safe in those hard times
the waistcoat was my favorite piece -- gorgeous
Ach, die Küchenpfanne! Einfach herrlich! Ich werde es mir erlauben dich zu zitieren, wenn´s ok ist! Danke für das tolle Video - wie immer, ein Genuß
You're inspiring me to learn to sew. I have two working hands.....I can learn!
You are both enchanting, the clothing is enchanting, the music, the ambience and Nadine's smile. I love your videos and of course I am subscribed. Thank you for making a rough morning graced by a moment of joyful, quiet reflection.

Good for you for sticking to your esthetic!
Bravo! Beautiful work! Very nice video, brilliant and modest in the mean time! Thanks for sharing.
Another amazing creation! Thanks for your dedication to your craft, and for sharing it with us.
Your videos are always a delight to watch. Thank You for sharing them :)
Gorgeous! Looking forward to styling it in different situations:)
I love this channel
I definitely need to try that spell 😂 Also your whole outfit turned out wonderful. Very dashing
Ha! I used Ikea's bomull for mockups as well! Great outfit and you have some great sewing skills.
The wizarding spell is just amazing! :D
Wow! This came out great and you look so dapper! Good job!
Those fabrics are gorgeous! As is Nadine!
Watching this and all the while knowing that something was missing. Eventually the penny dropped. No HAT!!!
This is such a cool video. And awesome period for an outfit. Nice work my friend. Keep up with the good work. Love the boots.
Ah, I really wanted to see the yellow necktie with the bomull shirt combined with the rest of the outfit. The yellow looks so beautiful with the green waistcoat.

Ahhh....love Regency menswear. Glad you decided, to explore it. The outfit suits you very well!
nadiine is enchanting, as are you 😘
Well done!!! You look smashing, as usual and very fun to see you branch out into other eras.
The coat is so beautiful and it matches so well with those white pants 😍😍
It is all flawless! The fabric for the waistcoat is just gorgeous! I don't geberally wear green at all and I still want some. The diamond twill is nice, too. How do you feel about drop front trousers? I found that they took some getting used to.
The waistcoat is everything
I want to know where you got that shirt, I really like it!
Fantastische video. Loved the suit, especially the waist coat. Beautiful. And you model the suit so wonderfully.
This is gorgeous! Love the video format, it’s concise but doesn’t leave anything important out (and I’m sure it must have been a bit easier to edit too?) Thank you for your hard work! ☺️
Love this outfit! I’m also (very) slowly working on a similar outfit. I need to tackle the waistcoat next. You’ve inspired me to get going on it!
beautiful workmanship! i will be following your work ... eventually i want to make my husband something like this
OMG...this is fabulous....you look so fantastic!!!! I also have a pattern for this outfit but I haven't tried it yet. I will have to do a lot of adjustments though, since it is not a woman's outfit. But I really would love to try it. Thanks for yet another wonderful video.
You look charming!!! 🥰

Stay safe and well in these troubling times. 💚
Beautiful work, and that dress wow, you of course look like a true gentleman.
☕☕☕👏👏👏more caffeine and applause for you 😂😂😂loved this video! One day I too shall make myself a regency style outfit... I hope it will look as awesome as yours!
Stunning outfit!
Looks Great!

Great outfit, looks good on you.
Woahh gorgeous!!
You make a fine Regency gentleman!
You are incredibly handsome! An excellent job in every way, good Sir!
The fit is so good. We should all just learn how to sew to never complain of ill-fitting clothes again T.T
Another great video. You have influenced me in many ways but the Regency style is way out of my comfort zone……. for the time being at least
