They certainly help, but the track is well used so pretty easy to see. It does get tricky when you cross river beds or rocky flats where the trail goes ‘vague’, but that’s the same everywhere. There were a few time when I strayed off the path, but quickly realised it after a few metres. One thing I did not appreciate until this walk was that I had actually gained a lot of experience following little used trails where you are able to spot the evidence of traffic through the subtle changes in the grasses and slightly polished rock surfaces. It’s definitely a skill worth honing.
I imagine it would be very easy to get lost out there if not for the trail markers.
