Sophia literally just waited for her members 😂 Sophia the 1st literally. First in 62 countries, 14 members want her i their group and lastly 2 out 3 judges picked her. What an unstoppable force. 🔥

She looked like a leader that time. more than her talents and visuals, her eloquence won me over. a perfect representative of the group. she had the little bits of everything.
Tbh I think manon guaranteed her spot once we saw the art film. Might be a stretch but she caught the eye of so many ppl without actually showing her skills yet.
I would go with Sophia: Mission 1 Lara: Mission 3 Daniela: Mission 3 Yoonchae: Once Nayoung was eliminated Megan: During the live finale Manon: Art Film
this is correct but i’d also give lara mission 1, she was pretty much a lock since the beginning too. and for manon, the promotional photos instead of the art film - people were going crazy over her headshots. they dropped prior to the art film no?
Yoonchae was consistently popular with Nayoung throughout the competition according to votes, so it honestly could've been either one of them. Megan was actually the member pushed into the lineup by the judges pick/scoring (not meant as hate towards Megan whatsoever, as she became one of my picks after Nayoung was eliminated).
Ngl eliminating Nayoung was such a waste 😢she was giving the same vibes as Manon and idk why but she also gave Charlie’s Angels look. In my opinion she had good stage presence and vocals and I though she would at least survive till the last competition but guess not…🤷🏻♀️
Nayoung was eliminated because she told the execs that she wants to be a solo artist and the execs said that if they debut Nayoung, they fear that the group might disband early or won’t be long because Nayoung might decide to leave the group early.
I feel like we really don't see many south Asian Americans in the western music industry, so Lara is a great addition! Saying this as a brown person of the same age!! ❤❤
also south asian and I'm much older than lara but seeing her fills my heart with joy. She's unapologetically herself and such an amazing way for young girls to see they don't have to be ashamed of her culture. Also the voice!!!
Tbh i think it was the antifragile mission that cemented yoonchae's spot. They were singing live and she was honestly the best performer in that performance. For both team A and B imo and she wasnt even top 10 for me before that performance.
i already knew sophia lara yoonchae were going to debut once i saw their antifragile performance (feel sad that emily was the only one of that team that didnt debut)
Ngl form day one I always knew Manon would make it 😅 the show itself felt like they were going for a group that has “intrigue” and she just fits that so well. And I wasn’t wrong either cuz it seems like every videos’ thumbnail that talks about Dream Academy has Manson in it as she’s basically like that picture face for the show. While I do wish that the show showcased her vocals better I do think she was gonna be in the group either way. And her being the main for the art film definitely elevated her chance to get votes. Cuz let’s be honest once your invested in someone it’s hard to let go even when other contestants may rise to a bigger level 😅
Can't say that I don't agree with the judges decision though. She's very talented, has stellar stage presence, is one of the best dancers on the show, and has great chemistry with the rest of the lineup (I saw their first livestream, and the group chemistry is already great). I think she's a good fit! 👍🏼
I was honestly quite shocked at her low score by the judges considering how consistently good she was throughout the competition. Maybe she lacked star quality to them or something? 🤔🤷🏽♀️
Her vocals might be the reason. Even though she sings fine, it's not phenomenal. And in groups like this, vocals come first before dance skills. She's comparatively the same as Megan's vocals. The thing is, Megan fits the group more perfectly visually. Emily and Ezrela just look too cute for this group. Even Yoonchae, the youngest, fits better visually. I'm sure they would go places somewhere else. @@jermainerodgers
You also have to consider the voting system though. There were so many people that included Megan in their final 6 but because they could only vote for 3, it typically went to Sophia and Lara. Voting SoLa also helped the one-pickers because those two were essentially guaranteed a spot anyways. Go fan faves!
I like Manon, but I think people should give her that accountability for not taking the competition as seriously as the others. She was given way too much privilege - being absent and staying outside the dorm. It’s not fair to blame the other competitors for demanding accountability from her, I mean Sophia sucked it up just to show everyone she’s dead serious about being in the group when she still performed Buttons. Mad respect for that! But I also appreciated that Manon took accountability in the end, she asked to talk with the other girls to address the issue and Sophia and Lara spoke for the others. That to me is a healthy approach rather than sweeping things under the rug. So let us not villainize Sophia, Lara, and the other girls. It all worked out in the end, the girls look tighter than before. So stop pitting them against each other and being toxic fans. No they all are powerful in their particular dance vocal stage presence it should be insane the power this group has is next level they all add and need each other!!!
Manon was definitely slacking. Pretty privilege carried her initially. That being said, I can’t imagine the group without her. Her stage presence is crazy. You can’t help but want to look at her. She’s so effortless. Her presence is strong but delicate. The vocals are beautiful, like seriously she’s got a really pretty voice. And it seems like she’s the center of the group. Idk I think she just anchors them all together, visually speaking. Like for me Sophia, Lara and Manon are just so FRESH. There’s something about each of them that just feels so new and interesting. Like they’re interesting themselves but it’s more so interesting seeing that representation in such a massive project. I can’t help but want to see more of them and want to root for them. I think they’re all so fresh except for maybe yoonchae. And that’s literally just because she’s the Korean girl in the Korean inspired group lol. In fact even she’s really fresh in terms of how she interacts with the multinational members.
In fact I didn't feel anything for Megan and Yoonchae at the beginning but I changed after Confident. Both of their dance were so cool and I kept watching it over and over again! And after Debut, Megan actually became one of my two bias (another is Lara right from the beginning). Her dance and cheerful expression won my heart.

Tbf I think we knew Megan was secured all the way back from the first recording during the training program - being fast and adaptable, able to do multiple harmonies on a whim without being prepared. And her dance skills from the get go damn!
they look sooooo strong. But I have to say that the performances are so obviously pre recorded. but their stage presence and personality alone is so it girl.
im happy manon improved a lot. because honestly, even up until they debuted, i dont see her deserving of that win over others. glad she proved me wrong.
I'm glad you came around to her! I think she deserved her win based on the fact that unlike everyone in the competition, she started from zero. Missy clarified in a WeVerse article that T&D was never mandatory, and Manon came to all the "required" rehearsals. The trainees chose to sacrifice most of their free time to extra rehearsals, which Manon chose not to do, so she seemed to be not as dedicated to the program in the eyes of the other contestants. That changed during the competition. I have a lot of thoughts about Dream Academy and Popstar Academy. I'm making a video soon. I just decided to take a small break from my channel due to the Hybe drama right now, as well as the election results in my country (the US). Thank you for watching! Props if you reac all this! 😅
Hold up, I'm sorry, let me get this straight; You want an 8 member group including SAMARA? With a black girl and 2 Indians? When she famously got hate for being racist to Indians and her fans were being anti-black and racist toward Manon?... Gurl.... lmao
@LukeBridger Gurl you do know that was another controversy like Garam in le sserafim right? And anyway maybe diversity wise that's forward but here was to hoping
@@Jazzyjihyo ...Garam's situation was some jealous girl she went to school with wanted to ruin her career with a rumour. Samara was caught liking anti-black, anti-chinese and anti-indian tiktoks (With 2 Indian contestants (better than her)) AND when she didn't get in her fans flooded WeVerse with real gore pics, anti-black and racist remarks and slurs toward Manon and NEVER apologised. She was pretty with a good voice, sure, but she showed her true colours, and man, she is so ugly on the inside
@Jazzyjihyo Yes, we love diversity, but when one member would jeopardise the safety and mental health of 2 other members because they're racist, it doesn't exactly translate well to the wellbeing of the group. And besides, with Garam, there was no proof of anything, and she was found innocent. Samara's bs was plastered all over her social media. Literal PROOF... wdym 💀
@LukeBridger this may be a hot take, but I unless I missed something I felt that what Samara did wasn't as bad as it may have seemed. All I have heard is she liked posts making fun of Indian food, which for all we know she could have done while half asleep. However, if there was more to it then I take back what I said. However, I think the actual reason she didn't get in the group is different then it appears. I watched the documentary, and I believe she didn't get in because she kept getting injured easily. It sounds like she didn't have the same stamina as some of the other girls. With Ezrela though there is no reason she didn't get in the group other than popularity and the belief that there can only be one Indian girl. I actually think from the documentary that Son and the HYBE Ceo wanted her in the group. But honestly if they want her badly they could put her in another group. Anyway those are my thoughts from the documentary at least. Oh and lmk if there's more to what Samara did that I wasn't aware of.
I hope they spend more time with their vocals. As a unit being promoted to the west, vocals are more important than your dance. I want to know what they would sound like on a ballad that has a lot of harmony. I’m very intrigued by the group lol.
@@SBBunny93 I'm hoping for a more vocal focused track on their debut EP! I was pretty unsatisfied with "Debut" in regards to length and lack of vocals, but the choreography really hit and I loved the MV visuals. I am pretty excited for their Kcon performance. Hopefully, their next single is teased there. 👀
@@mizpotatoKpop come back after listening to the full work it wasn’t bad. But I don’t think it was great. Idk. 🤷🏽♂️ I guess they need a bit more time. But if this is the sound they will go for they aren’t really for me, but I am hoping they can stay strong and practice! And after watching that documentary they need to bond more than ever now lol 😂
I saw a choreo video of dream academy girls and Megan served. I was like wait a min who is that.. then saw the yt video of the survival show. She really pulled me in.
No, because I feel like Yoonchae was a super sleeper. Like she has TONS of SP and always gives face and good vocals she was def a sleeper like no lie. SHE IS MY BIAS LOL!
Once a group has talented members, then success all depends on the producer and creative director. Blackpink had Teddy Park for their 7 year run of success. BTS has internal producing talent to create hit after hit. NewJeans had a fresh sound with great songs/music videos like Attention, OMG, Ditto, Cool With You. Baby Monster finally found their groove with Sheesh, now they need a string of similar great songs to succeed long term. I hope the talented young women of Katseye get the right producer and songs to succeed.
I feel like they’re literally perfect together. I got into their music before I knew about the survival show or the documentary. I know there were contestants who were maybe even more talented but like - these six are just PERFECTION together. Sophia is DIVINE FEMININE. She’s just beautiful - beautiful voice - beautiful face - beautiful personality. Lara and Megan are PERFORMERS. And I personally love their vocals in the songs the most. I know Megan wasn’t a fan favorite which is so absurd because she’s so gen z coded and likable. I guess that didn’t translate through the performances - cause she means business when she’s performing. Daniela is THE DANCER. Her vocals are also SO GOOD like her verse in tonight I might gagged me. Manon is just so interesting. In the sense that she’s so eye catching. She’s got such a chill pretty girl vibe to her. She gives me very much like Tyla vibes. Confident relaxed black girls. Love. And Yoonchae honestly just ties it all together. She’s the K in the group which gives it that feel of the overarching Kpop thing. But also she’s very well rounded. I’m literally obsessed with them I can’t imagine the lineup in any other way. Yes there were people who ‘deserved’ to be here but at the end of the day it’s about more than just talent. It’s about image, vibe, cohesiveness. Like I just don’t see Adela or Emily in katseye. And that’s not because they were less talented or more talented. It’s just because this lineup makes the most sense together. They’re all talented and they’re all likable plus there’s someone for everybody to connect to.
I knew manon will debut no matter what she do bcos when Bang PD showed his vision board for the girls, a drawing of a tall black girl with the same exact lock as manon was always there
can they all be my bias? But Megan, Sophia, Lara, and Manon rank just a bit higher in favoritism over Daniel and Yoonchae- I'd say my ranking would be Megan, Sophia, Manon, Lara, Yoonchae, and Daniel. I REALLY LOVE THEM ALL SO IT'S HARD AF TO RANK THESE GORGEOUS INDIVIDUALS
I was about to say... Megan and Manon both born on the same day of the same year?? but it makes more sense now that she was born four years before Megan but still the same day.
I personally think Manon and Lara were clear shoe-ins from the very beggining. The most talented girls not just of the group, but of the whole show. The only one who came anywhere near them was Nayoung. Yoonchae, Megan and Daniela proved themselves all through the show, and earned their places. As for Sophia, her case is different. I don't think she got in for her idol abilities (which she does have, of course), but for her clear dominance porsonality-wise. She's a leader, a mother figure, and she was like this all through the show. The group needed someone to act as the spokes person, and she fit that role perfectly.
Correction: Manon was born in 2002!
Ty for putting Megan ethnicity correctly :)

THAT VERY LAST CLIP OF LARA SENT CHILLS THROUGH MY ENTIRE BODY LIKE WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT ??!?!
im happy manon improved a lot. because honestly, even up until they debuted, i dont see her deserving of that win over others. glad she proved me wrong.
Wish it was a 8 member group so my girls Ezrela and Samara could get in too!
Hold up, I'm sorry, let me get this straight;
You want an 8 member group including SAMARA?
Megan in pink venom bro!!!! Omfg i was in love
Lara's vocals are crazy
I’m probably biased because I too m half Ghanaian, but Manon and Megan are my favs! So happy a Ghanaian made it! ❤
I knew yoonchae was going to debut when i watched Girls Dont Like and same with Megan
I saw a choreo video of dream academy girls and Megan served. I was like wait a min who is that.. then saw the yt video of the survival show. She really pulled me in.
Can't wait for KATSEYE to debut
buttons would've really solidified the debut of nayoung as well, just like manon, daniela, and sophia.
LARA VOICE IS SO GOOD!!!
I love when the other girls in the doc claimed there was discrimination towards american contesttants but 3 americans debuted.
Sky is the limit for Yoonchae.
I still hate the fact that they didn't let Adela show her skills
Why is manon so beautiful 😍
Katseye is like My Scene Dolls ❤
megan was in her blackpink performance fs
LARA LITERALLY SOUNDS LIKE A DISNEY PRINCESS
No, because I feel like Yoonchae was a super sleeper. Like she has TONS of SP and always gives face and good vocals she was def a sleeper like no lie. SHE IS MY BIAS LOL!
Lara really is the bias
I knew manon will debut no matter what she do bcos when Bang PD showed his vision board for the girls, a drawing of a tall black girl with the same exact lock as manon was always there
i actually think megan secured her spot immediately with pink venom
can they all be my bias?
But Megan, Sophia, Lara, and Manon rank just a bit higher in favoritism over Daniel and Yoonchae- I'd say my ranking would be Megan, Sophia, Manon, Lara, Yoonchae, and Daniel. I REALLY LOVE THEM ALL SO IT'S HARD AF TO RANK THESE GORGEOUS INDIVIDUALS
I was about to say... Megan and Manon both born on the same day of the same year?? but it makes more sense now that she was born four years before Megan but still the same day.
Damn nice showcase, they all did well
DANIELA AND MEGAN ❤️
I noticed Megan on her 1st mission
I personally think Manon and Lara were clear shoe-ins from the very beggining. The most talented girls not just of the group, but of the whole show. The only one who came anywhere near them was Nayoung.
Yoonchae, Megan and Daniela proved themselves all through the show, and earned their places.
As for Sophia, her case is different. I don't think she got in for her idol abilities (which she does have, of course), but for her clear dominance porsonality-wise. She's a leader, a mother figure, and she was like this all through the show. The group needed someone to act as the spokes person, and she fit that role perfectly.
I think Sophia was the shoe in. Like you said, she has all the idol capabilities, plus the maternal energy. She had to be in the group.
Lara & Sophia are my favs tbh
Yoonchae moment was when Nayoung got eliminated tbh
Yes Sophia ate during buttons even though she was sick
Sophia showed how resilient Filipinos are
Omg Daniela reminds me so much of Charlie XCX
Lara and Sophia ❤
Megan’s YEAH YEAHHHH lives in my head rent free
Daniella is definitely my favorite
