Professor, you provide hard tough facts. Love that you never sugar coat...something which is needed...reminds me of the quote "Play STUPID GAMES, win STUPID PRIZES"
So moral of the story is nothing is above the law! Prof. I have one question here, what happens to killers, is there any rule or justice for the victims? Even though they are breaking laws just for the sake of some extra earnings. But do the killers get any sort of punishment or it is legal to kill anyone who is breaking the prestigious Visa laws of the great USA?
These people want to go to prison. They get a place to live and food in prison. Their brain also thinks only for short term so that's the only thing they are capable of thinking about without thinking about the brutality there. Gotham City is actually based on how things are in US, there are actually people here who will first kill you and then think why they killed you. If they get caught by police they'll go to jail, they don't care, they have no present and no future they know that much.
Thanks for bringing up the point that working off-campus is illegal. I have seen a couple of influencer promoting the idea of becoming financial independence by working off-campus and portraying this as an American culture where college students do jobs and pay fees by themselves (they are citizens they are allowed to work not international students - well they ignore telling this fact). Instead of this I still believe students should look for on-campus jobs or TA/RA assistantship.
Hey prof, the reason you are seeing cases like these more often these days opposed to the earlier days is because the student in take is a lot higher. I’m sure students were breaking the laws back in those days too.
Great point about the insurance sir. The health system here is terrible (even with "decent" insurance) - it's legalized extortion I just pray if any health issue happens, I will be fit enough to fly back. I've told my parents to keep paying my health insurance in India For the cost of an ambulance ride here (roughly $1000), you can make a round trip to India, get good quality healthcare and come back Take good care of your health here bhailog! Best wishes!
You didn't talk about that jahnvi girl that was killed by a police officer who was laughing at her after killing her And the fun fact is he got away with it without facing much consequences.
Ek haat se tali nehi bajta professor! Why don't you say anything to the authority who's giving hundreds of thousands of visa to candidates who don't even have a decent academic background. I know many people who graduated from a good university and doesn't even know there's a statement call "print statement", some of them can't even name 5 programing languages and these are the CS graduates I'm talking about. Usually this type of people are found in those gas stations. They're proving these visas just for the monitory gains and they failed to provide a good economy to create enough jobs for them which also led to some of these unfortunate events. You're a citizen you can certainly make video on them. One more thing please make a video on these so called "TH-camrs" who are misleading people with their glamourous US lifestyle and asking people to come to US which led to an exponential growth of Indian students coming to US without doing a proper research. These types of people usually take a huge loan and sometimes they don't even have enough money for one semester and later they suffer.
All valid points but it is not the job of the visa officer to determine the talent of a student. A university has given the student admission. The job of the visa officer is to verify that they have funds to pay and are genuine students. Their innate talent and capabilities are out of scope for a visa officer.
Sir!, you should also condemn the law and order in America. Even though they are working in nights in some store or gas station, that doesn't mean they are doing something wrong. The crime rates should reduce, the hate towards Indians in America should reduce.
there is only so much police can do. They cannot predict where the crime will happen. These people were not even allowed to work there and still they chose to break the law. In that sense, the law was broken by the victims.
They can do but then 50% of the population in the country is strictly against it because they've been taught that this enforcement of law and order is fascist.
Hi Professor, Your recent video on how to select research topic and advisor was extremely useful and informative. Recently crimes against International students ranging from getting robbed to being shot dead have increased lately. I understand that some or many students aren't authorised to work at certain places but the US government should do something about this gun culture and increasing crime rates too. There was a video wherein the US police officer was mocking the death of an Indian girl studying in the US, saying her life least matters and so on. Anyways Professor, thanks for the informative video again.
unfortunately, the gun laws are terrible here. In the case of the student death by police officer, it was an accident. What another officer said was very unfortunate.
I've lived in the US for 14 years and things have definitely gone down hill. I'd strongly recommend young Indians don't fall for this idea of a "first world country" and come anymore. Its just not worth it. Was great for the previous generation. Not sp much anymore.
I like how this person blames the students for the deficiencies of the system in the US. Young people should not be expected to live under a rock just to be a "US NRI".
Safety in us is less and deteriorating due to illegal migration. US is not like India that people can wander around casually in most places. One must be very careful and crime is rampant in many places. Students don’t have a car and walk or take buses which expose them to crimes
Fortunately, there is enough data showing that illegal immigrants are the least likely to commit any crime (apart from the crime of entering the US illegally), then legal migrants have a slightly higher crime rate. American citizens commit crime at a greater rate than these two other groups. Next, the crimes that these student's have committed are petty crimes. Yes it is illegal and one should not take up jobs when they are not authorized, but doing so is still a petty crime. The thing that happens is that, places where you can take such a job are places where there is less safety and security, like in a gas station, so bigger crimes happen there more often and these students get exposed to them. Then as to taking walking and taking buses instead of driving a car, in the US more than 120 people die every day due to vehicular accidents every single day (42,000 deaths a year) and is the leading cause of death almost at the same rate as gun violence. Even in this video there is a story of a student getting brain injuries and resorting to a gofundme for medical bills. Driving a car is more dangerous than taking a bus or walking. But of course since the infrastructure for walking (like sidewalks, crossings) often are subpar one should be careful in doing so. Switching to driving is not the solution though.
Am I the only one who saw that one common thing being Telugu students from Hyderabad who are working at gas stations illegally? Just follow the law and don’t tarnish the reputation for the rest of the country you’re from!
it is not victim shaming. My heart goes out to those who became victims of crime. All I am saying is that had people adhered to the rules, their likelihood of becoming victim to some of the crimes would have been very low. Just like if someone dies because there was a hole in the road, had they been driving slow, they could have survived. But because they were driving at very high speeds, much above the speed limit and then they get into an accident, it was their fault too.
They could be wrong in many places but lets not resort to Victim blaming.

Just working in gas stations or walking late at night does not mean they can just be murdered.
true that. But if it is known that it is very dangerous, it should be avoided.
This is what our Prof in UT San Antonio says the same in ISA orientation.
You are on point.

she was killed by one officer and the person who mocked her death was another officer. That is why he got away.
Good suggestions icharu professor

best to talk to people working in that area. I am not too familiar with it.
Love from Bangladesh ❤️.
Totally agree with you Professor!

Say you are a forex trader can you still trade in the US as an international student?
Yes if the broker is allowed in the USA. If it's not allowed just use VPN and enjoy your trading.
It is generation gap sir. You are old unfortunately😅

many gujjus punjabis also. It is in the same proportion as the students who come here
