I rode this bike yesterday and absolutely loved it. It handled like a dream (super planted, especially the front end) and the brakes were excellent. As far as power goes it has plenty. You need to ride it a bit like a 2 stroke. Keep the revs high, clutch it when needed, and you will be VERY surprised. Put a huge smile on my face, I'm buying one.
Just test rode one of these. Initial thoughts? GAME CHANGER (for me). Definitely the most powerful and smooth 250 I've ever ridden. This thing rips! Handles amazing, suspension is superb. It has redefined for me what a 250 can do and how it's plenty of power for trail riding.
But what bikes have changed to combat ktm??? The Honda is the only bike that has made a complete change and that has climbed up the ladder and is now competitive... when Yamaha brought out their 250 in 2014 they won every shootout!
Dudes, I'm sure MXA knows Darrel misspoke about the HP. On another note, I own a Yamaha and have never owned a Katoom, nor do I have any other reason to pull for them in shootouts or reviews. So with that in mind, how in the F@CK can anyone argue with the KTM comin out on top when it does pretty much everything at least as good as, but usually better than all the other bikes in the given class? I gotta give it up to them for what they've done over the past 10-15 years. I still love my Yami though.
I have a 2014 YZ250F and completely agree, I have owned every brand and covered the 125, 250, 250, 450 and 525 displacements over the past decade. I loved the KTM I had a few years back, but you are correct, the lightest, fastest, best equipped bike is spelled KTM in any displacement out there nowadays. With that said, I LOVE my YZ250F more than any bike I've owned thus far, the first time I experienced SSS forks was this '14 I have now, and that in combination with a ripper of a motor I have no desire to desert Yamaha anytime soon.
Greco Conduris i heard that and instantly looked in the comments to make sure I’m not the only one who heard that lmao, I think he meant 44... that’s the range all the 250f’s come in now
KTM and Husqvarna produce the biggest range of off road bikes in the world now.Without them MXA would have nothing to write about half the year. They know what pays the bills for sure. Conspiracy theory fans wonder why MXA test riders always wear orange helmets, and if you spell KTM backwards you get MTK.....MoToKross Action Magazine...I could go on but have to go into hiding before someone spikes my medication with agent orange.
Steve Williams I know kkkk they probably didn’t notice the 54hp, I think is 44hp as well cause husky it’s around 44hp as well and it’s pretty much the same engine
Sandor Clegane all these bikes are good nowadays a fast rider will be fast on a Suzuki or a ktm. It's just these magazines filling your head with a bunch of bs
Well said Steve, all the bikes are good these days.If you have a good bike shop locally, support them and ride that brand.I was a long term Honda rider, but now am impressed with what Husqvarna are doing.
They definitely have made a tremendous effort in the past few years, but the fact that some people especially average riders think that a certain bike is going to make them that much of a better rider are delusional.

Every shoot out, "IT'S THE BEST BIKE EVER" same thing as we heard last year.
Lee Nix wait to the 2019s hit, it will be a slaughter

Thanks for the advice, are you my new Doctor?
Just an observation, your background seems very orange...KTM orange!
54hp??? Something is wrong... hahaha
could just be where they measured it, big difference between at the crank HP and at the rear wheel HP
Gotta be 44 horsepower same as last year
That's more like what 450s make ahaha

Sleepy .Time it’s 44hp,at the rear wheel it’s less than that, it’s around 36-40 at the rear wheel depending on the bike clutch, chain and transmission
Enduro Kszeszowice.
Idk what hes talking about that bikes slow lol
Honda coming in with an all new bike, I don't think ktm will be on top this year. Just motocross action being biased towards ktm as usual.
Sandor Clegane all these bikes are good nowadays a fast rider will be fast on a Suzuki or a ktm. It's just these magazines filling your head with a bunch of bs

Zenzenmusic I agree I wouldn't be afraid to ride any color now a days

Idk man depends on the rider
