Dan Hartman DID like performing live. He played bass for Edgar Winter and had a long, long career of playing live before this song came out. He wrote and sang "Free Ride" for the Edgar Winter Group also prior to this. You can also see Dan Hartman playing bass guitar on the Rick Derringer hit- "Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo in 1973.
Dan Hartman had one of the most diverse careers of anybody in the history of music. Early 1970s rock singer, late 1970s disco singer, 1980s pop star, singer-songwriter-producer and even did background vocals on Steve Winwood’s The Finer Things. It was a huge shame that he passed on at just 43 years young and this next year will be three decades since he left this world unexpectedly. He was one of a kind.
Geweldig!!
All the songs you did with Dan Hartman, the Time Bandits single “I Won’t Steal Away” and its B-side “Cool World” and the album Can’t Wait For Another World, these were all great Time Bandits records. They all felt like the next natural direction to go at that time with the Time Bandits music and worthy additions to the whole truly fantastic catalogue. Anybody who has never heard all of Alides Hidding’s Time Bandits music is really missing out because it’s truly incredible.
It was. Daryl Hall himself has confirmed that Hartman originally wrote “I Can Dream About You” for them, but they turned it down because Hall & Oates already had enough songs for their album at the time, Big Bam Boom. Then, the executive producer of the music for Streets Of Fire, Jimmy Iovine, requested a song from Hartman for the movie and Hartman chose “I Can Dream About You,” with the condition that his own vocals be used on the actual soundtrack album.
in matters of the heart, it all ` starts with a beat fix me up a four count no rocks just keep it neat and when I hit the floor I'm only dancing While Dan's Singing (for Dan Hartman)
Your revealing you had done music on the cartoon series Star Street interested me. It only got any exposure here in America, where I’m from, it would seem, through home video compilations. I don’t see any evidence as of yet that Star Street ever had aired on any television broadcaster here in America.
Thank you for giving Dan Hartman a spotlight.
The woman in his video was an actress who appeared in an 80s classic movie "Just One of the Guys "

I loved Dan Hartman!!! And I love Edgar Winter too! A lot of people don’t realize that Dan wrote Free Ride.
I was in my late teens, the lyrics were so fitting for us young lads looking for love. 😊
The 80s are so hot now. Can 't stop listening to all those catchy cheesy songs :))))))))
Super talented, he was. Much missed performer. RIP Dan Hartman.
I love this pairing here. It's like watching a "Who's on First" re enactment regarding instead a music video.

@@RocStarr913 It would have been awesome to hear a Hall & Oates or even a Daryl Hall version of I can Dream About You! 🤗📻🎹🎤
