    Matt, your desert adventure was so reminiscent of my experiences growing up in the wide open spaces of eastern Washington State during the 1950s and 60s. Military surplus guns and ammo were plentiful and cheap and could be mail ordered right to your door or bought at the local Coast to Coast or Western Auto stores (funny how that went on for many decades with no mass shootings). We shot a lot of .22 rimfire and shotguns while hunting and just having a good time, but I later realized that the thousands of rounds of 30-06, 7.62 Swedish Mauser, British .303, 7mm Mauser, .30 caliber carbine, .45 ACP, etc. shooting was an amazing privilege that few youngsters experienced. We became quite skilled at using the old military ranging ladder sights shooting hundreds or even thousands of yards safely in miles wide plowed wheat fields. We rolled tires down hills so we could learn how to lead moving targets. And yes, we blew up rotten fruit and vegetables just for the same kind of fun you guys had in the desert. Thanks for the memories. Jess

      Absolutely darn right. These mass shootings only became an issue now with stricter gun laws!

    Loved your ear protectors Matt.
    The 30-06 ammo for the M1 is ball ammo to comply with the Geneva Convention. Also, the military realized that if you kill an enemy, the others will just continue fighting. If you wound him, at least one able bodied enemy will be detailed to rescue him. So you decrease their fighting strength by at least two instead of just one.

    .22 Mag is a really fun round, but like someone else asked in another video: Why not give the .17HMR a try? They are incredible fun, price point on ammo isn't bad, the speed is right around 2300-2400fps, and the damage and accuracy is crazy for such a little bullet. Love mine and I know which one I would take in a heartbeat.

    Light on = no battery !!!! not the first for me also, specially when hunting rabbits that's why I always carry a 12V jumpstarter, anyway fun fun gun video Matt.
    That slow-Mo watermelon explosion was SUBLIME man.

    Great video Matt!!... The .270WSM didn't show the same destruction on the pumpkin as it did on the watermelon is because the pumpkin is basically hollow; the watermelon on the other hand is full of 'watermelon' juice.....Not sure when this little shooting session took place but I'm guessing the weather was still fairly nice; if that little mistake with the headlights had happened in the middle of the summer when the temps can reach 120F+ it could have been catastrophic !!! Many people die in the deserts of AZ in the summer, those are not the kind of mistakes you want to have happen......

    You should pour water into the pumpkin, the hydro-static shock will let it fly into pieces

    Pumpkins are hollows, and because of that most rounds just punch a hole. Solid fruits like watermelons blow up.

    Protip: fill pumpkins with water and they will explode. Otherwise, watermelons might be a more fun target

    So looks like you guys forgot your earplugs judging from the empty cases protruding from your ears ;)

    why would you need an Over powered rifle that would pretty much leave you with ground meat (just askin) i hunt birds but with sling shots so can any one kindly explain it to me>

    • @omnomshibob
      @omnomshibob 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      On a large animal you'd aim for heart and lungs. There isn't any meat in the chest cavity so the more damage caused the quicker the animal dies. Granted it would be overkill if varminting or bird hunting.

    • @creative_expressionproductions
      @creative_expressionproductions 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      it stops the bullet doing a u-turn in the barrel doesn't it?? that way you are less likely to have dust in your eyes while you shoot? haahaha

    Guys shooting without ear protection, yet I need to shoot with double ear protection and a suppressor because I have tinnitus from a firework and even then it feels like its getting worse.. live is not fair always
