Idk if you mentioned it or not, but to map the Xbox button to the steam deck you have to set one of the buttons to the N key. Then just hold it to get the shutdown Xbox menu to come up. It’s not mapped on it when you download the app. Otherwise you have to click the screen and hold down the button on there to get the option to shut down the xbox
@@sly2792004 when you are in the xbplay game you hit the steam button then a menu pops up and you will click the right d-pad button. Then go to controller settings and then click edit layout. You will see a buttons menu and scroll down to the back grips section. I used L4 for my button to act as the Xbox button. You click add command and then hit the r1 button to get to the keyboard selection and you will click the N key. After that your L4 button will be programmed to work as the Xbox button. Just hold the L4 button to get the shutdown Xbox menu to pop up. Otherwise you can just use the touchscreen with the on screen controls. If you do it that way then the guide button in the bottom middle works the same as the Xbox button.
@@sly2792004one annoying thing with this app is that once you shut down the Xbox it will have a message box that says you disconnected, but it doesn’t exit out of the app. You have to push the steam button again and then go to the exit game selection to close the app out completely.

It’s less than a foot for me. Both of my Xbox Series X controllers constantly disconnect from the Steam Deck whenever I hook it up to my TV or monitor. In order for them to stay connected I almost have to press the controllers against the Deck, which makes it impossible to use it as a console
Works great. Just so you all know.. you do need a gamepass ultimate to access from your steam deck. I learned that the hard way when I saw the regular gamepass was only for PC :P

The question is: how safe is it? We don't know this developer and it has access to login stuff (even though through live sso tokens). This concerns me a little.
Unfortunately this doesn't work UNLESS you have a console (i.e., you can't just create a Game Pass Ultimate account & stream games to your Steam Deck through XBPlay without being set up on an XBOX console first). Fortunately Steam is good about refunds, but Microsoft gets to keep my $17 (even though they said I'd get to try it for $1).

I added Game Pass to my Steam Deck via the Edge browser method and I'm getting something like 5.5 hours setting the TDP to 10. Between that and Steam Link the only game I actually have installed on my Steam Deck at the moment is Hogwart's Legacy.

Unfortunately the description on Steam is simply inaccurate. You need an Xbox console to use this program. You cannot just have a Game Pass subscription and stream games from the cloud. I know it's just $6 but it's an awful feeling to not be able to use the product & having paid for a subscription service just to test XBPlay enough to confirm a console is required.
Not true, to remote play you need an Xbox console (the top option when opening XBPlay called "Remote Play"), to stream GamePass you don't need an Xbox console, you just need a GamePass subscription and select the second option called "Cloud Play". I demonstrate this in the video.
When I try to remote play I get a message saying the following: Failed to connect. -If this is working before, try restarting your console by holding the power button for 10 seconds. -If this is your first time, you may need to configure your network. 1.Ensure both your device and console are on IPv6 2.If IPv6 is unavailable, enable port forwarding on your router for: Port:9002 Type: UDP and TCP IP: Xbox;s IP. 3.If you cannot setup port forwarding, you will have to be on the same Wi-fi network as your console. So, before I was able to remote play from work to xbox but now I can only get Cloud Streaming to work, and the game is so choppy that I can't really even play. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!
I haven't turned on my xbox in over a year, can I still use Xbox Cloud Gaming (beta) without the xbox being powered on? Also,do you need xbox live to make it work? My goal is to play my purchased games on xbox without being powered on through my steamdeck.
This video convinced me to buy the app but it's not working. I can't get past the login authentication. I have remote play turned on, proton off. When I login it says "failed getting consoles, enable remote play." Someone posted here with the same problem and I guess fixed it. Does anyone know what the fix is?
I had this issue, think I said the fix in the video but if not, double check remote play is enabled on your Xbox and then hard restart it. Hold the Xbox power button for about 10 seconds then turn it on again, close XBPlay on Steam Deck then reopen it, now it should work. That's worked for me and what the Devs say to do too!
So I've noticed that this will only work on when my Xbox is on and my controller controls my steam deck and my Xbox but I only want to control my steam deck is there a way I can do that
I use the Web browser way but it's always buffering I wonder if it will work better streaming with this app as its not my Internet I have great Internet.

There is a free plugin for Decky Loader called Junk Store that is the latest and best way to integrate epic games into steam on Deck but I haven't covered it yet!
Could Xbox just like do a portal? I was an Xbox guy until the portal came around. Gaming on an 85in tv sucks honestly. With the portal I can play fallout with killtony in the back ground which is the perfect setup

@@bertvo841 I have been searching and searching since I left this comment and I decided to go with the ROG Ally instead The Steam deck seems to be a great device BUT not if you are like me and want to mainly play windows games like Call of duty, red dead redemption and whatnot This is where the ROG Ally and the Lenovo legion go seem to be way more userfiendly So for people who are into pc games, indie games, emulators and whatnot, the Steam deck seems to be top notch , for more „console“ type of players the other two devices seem to be better I got my Ally today so I can not say much I’m currently downloading MW3 and bought it on Steam Already used cloud play via gamepass and played a bit of far cry too 👌🏻

Hard reset on Xbox and connecting to my steam deck oled does not work. Held down button for 15 seconds. Last 2 in green box always fail. No console found. All other devices, iPad, Samsung galaxy ultra tablet and rog ally work fine in remote play. Smh
The last 2 in the green box failing just means you aren't paying for a game pass subscription, so cloud play will not work. Remote Play should work though. If it doesn't, make sure u are on the same wifi as your console or have enabled port forwarding for port 9002 UDP and TCP.
Going to have to try this method out I was using green light but then it said there was an update I updated and now it won’t get past the steam loading screen but it work on desktop mode 🙃

i know this was made only 4 weeks ago, but I greenlight is not that hard to set up... and the functionality is the same. you quite literally download the app from desktop mode, and then add it as a non-steam game on steam while in desktop mode. You do your login and you're done. and it's free. Sure you can spend more time tweaking the graphics so that it looks nice on your steam deck as far as adding a thumbnail or whatever but i mean... I just want to play my xbox games in bed - I don't quite care about a thumnail. Some day I'll fix it.

Warning wifi 6ghz only has like a 6 foot radius. Most of the time I find myself going back to 5ghz since the range is so bad for 6ghz bandwidth.

I know 6Ghz has horrible wall penetration but it’s range should depend on the broadcasting device.
