    I have recently trying to come up with ideas on how to improve the home made table saw I have and never thought of doing something like this! Your very smart for coming up with such a simple design. I've seen so many videos on different designs that look easy to make but are much more complicated in practice. Keep up the good work!

    One thing you might want to look at, is adding a piece on the opposite end. When you tighten the knob it pulls the rail against the back of the table and secures it.

    This is the most excellent fence design that I've seen after watching over 30 videos on TH-cam!
    Immediately I see how I can a ruler/tape measure, a T-track at the far end, T-tracks used to mount clamps & mitre; plus a dust suction on the fence!

    Thank you for sharing this. This is just what I wanted, a simple, easy to make, fence. I have an old garage-sale find craftsman table saw and it's fence is useless. I'm building a workbench that I can put the table saw in, and wanted to add a exterior fence. I love the design, although I think I'll use all wood so I can screw on sacrificial fence for when I use my dado blade. Maybe when my skills improve I'll make something a bit more complex, but this fence will help me get to that place and I appreciate your taking the time to document it.

    One thing you might want to consider doing is to put a measuring tape on the top of the table in the front and the back so you can position the fence quickly and be sure it is even both front and back. Love, love this build. You do a fantastic job of explaining everything and showing how to actually do what you are explaining. You also do a great job of explaining without being condescending and as a newbie, I really appreciate that!

    • @KungFuMojo
      @KungFuMojo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If done right, no need. You would only create more hassle. I would imagine it's more difficult to slide smoothly if you have handles with t-tracks on both sides. Even commercialized fences have only one gliding handle.

      @jasonsahadeo5740 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also if the table top isn't perfectly square a second track at the back will be a problem. (If it isn't parallel)

    • @jameslund221
      @jameslund221 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The back needs to be ever so slightly loose, so you don’t bind up going through.

    Had an idea when you finished. You could insert a flat metal rule on the locking end of the fence flush to the table surface and set to the exact dimensions between the fence and saw blade, then simply line up the fence to the width you need and lock in place....No need to measure every time

    or add them in closed caption text? you have a growing world wide audience, and 90+ percent of the rest of the world uses metric.

    Your video on making a table fence was the final piece of the puzzle for enlarging my Craftsman 21807 Table Saw to 48" X 38". This now gives me 14" of table before the saw blade. Your design works perfectly. I did modify your plan to 3 1/3 wide boards and used two 2" X 2" boards for the clamping device to accommodating the 38" width of the table. Thank you.

    Thanks for posting this DIY idea. I seem to have misplaced my Rip Fence for my Delta Saw during one of two moves so I've been clamping a 2 by 4 as a fence. I know I still have the fence some where, but this ought to do the trick until I find it, and it won't cost as much as a new saw or a Woodcrafters Fence upgrade.

    Thanks for this great DIY. I have been looking for a DIY table saw fence since the one mine came with is horrible. I have a job site saw so I was not expecting a great fence. I am going to take the saw off of the stand and build it into my new workbench. This video gave me a great idea. I am going to take off the fence rails on the front and back of my table saw and build a wood frame across the front. This will allow me to build this fence and attach it. I think I might add a measuring band too above the T-track and use the edge of the fence.

    Thanks for the video. I'm building a DIY table saw using an Evolution Rage 1. I wasn't sure how to make and fit a fence but your idea seems to be about the best option I've seen so far. I am considering buying a table saw and wanted to see if it would work for me. My workshop is very small and a large table saw would mean I would need to get rid of my mitre saw so I don't want to invest if it's not going to work so the DIY route is the best option.

    I really do admire you ingenuity and perseverance. You always come up with a solution regardless of the problem. Great job and clear instructions with great video production.
    Quick question. How do you raise and lower the blade?

    Awesome! I might try this to replace the fence on my inexpensive table saw to replace the unstable fence that came with it. Nice work!

    Great to see a fence that locks on only the front edge - the pvc stuff looks like a good way of getting around the problems with melamine mdf some places reccommend. Thanks for the simple, clear :)

    The most simple, accurate fail proof fence I've seen made on TH-cam. Most DIY videos aren't for the normal every day person. This is something that every woodworking hobbyist has on hand. Best vid I've found. Could this work on an existing table saw top??

    Hi Glenn. Love this simple design and the way you built it using basic tools and materials. Checking the channel I see DIY Creators is still going strong so looking forward to binging on all the back episodes.

    I recently purchased a cheap Ryobi table saw that I'm going to completely rebuild into a larger more substantial table saw. I really like the plans and design of your fence, which is one of the more important details for my table saw rebuild.
