      I’m so glad it helped! They don’t make it easy and I know I’ve struggled to figure it out in the past. They do have a new feature planned around how I share lists like this but they don’t currently have an eta. I’m happy you found my channel and was able to help you!

    Thanks for posting the tutorial because, yes, I could not intuit how to do it myself. I think you said it's possible to change the color: how does one do that? Also, is it possible to set a 'no color preference' criteria? I just want to use these as handy 3D models for playing around with container home ideas. Which, speaking of (!) do you know how to make these to container scale? For example, containers come in various lengths - do you know how to make these LEGO containers to real-world container sizes (whether they fit on a LEGO train or ship, or not)? Much obliged for any further support you might have :)!

    I’ve made a lego custom moc in the studio, and I want to sell it, *just the instructions and parts list* should I just sell the instructions only or both because I can find anything to make a parts list

    • @GJBricks
      @GJBricks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do they instructions have a parts list in them? If so that’s fine. But personally if you have an easy to download to bricklink parts list, that would sweeten the deal. Depends how big the moc is. What’s it of?

  • @nexus-6392
    @nexus-6392 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi. Does it work with all the lego sets? I tried with the model 'Super Mario: 71374-1' but there's no way to download that list of parts.

    • @GJBricks
      @GJBricks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      tbh, I don't know where you can get the downloadable list of parts for sets. This video is more for people that download moc instructions made by creators like myself. But LEGO.com has the PDF instructions for all sets if you go to the service section of their site.

      @@GJBricks Hey hi. Thanks a lot for your answer. Yes, I found the pdf instructions for that model (we can find all the existing models in ped online). It would be awesome if there's a way to get all the parts we need for x model and then make the models. The only method I know is to check all the parts from the manuals, find them and put them. It takes forever.

      Who have you purchased from? bricklink? I’ve honestly never bought instructions on there. I would guess it’s in your account somewhere maybe - top right menu

    another great video greg. just wondering what are some of the bricklink stores you get parts from that arent in australia?? ive only ever ordered from australian stores

    • @GJBricks
      @GJBricks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I seem to have the ability to want parts local stores don't have. And if you order enough, you save money overseas with the postage. Although I ordered some train parts from the UK recently. Was about $20AUD including shipping!

    • @andrewthornton6137

    n00b here. Thanks for your great content! I'm trying to order the pieces to do the Hogwarts Express motorising upgrade in one of your other videos.
    Has Bricklink changed the upload interface since this was made? I can't see the "upload bricklink xml format" tab on my upload dialogue.

    How much did it cost you to order pieces to build the EMD FL9? I am trying to order pieces on Bricklink to build this locomotive. It says that it is $146 + shipping to have it shipped to the U.S. Do you know any cheap ways to obtain the nearly 700 pieces without paying a fortune? Thanks!

    • @GJBricks
      @GJBricks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve had that before. Some shops charge insane prices for some pieces. That’s the way to go. They give you average, lowest and highest prices for each part. Also, decide if you want old or new bricks. New is better but cost more. I’ve had some shocking used bricks (and some great ones). Bricklink has some good tools to help you optimise and help you get good value.

  • @frgproductions6165

    Hi! I’m having a bit of an issue: i’m importing an XML list into the parts upload fine but I keep a “null” notification as soon as I try to verify everything. Any tips on that? I doubt the format is wrong or that there are any typos as I bought digital instructions from brickmania and there is more than one list. I’ve tried with every list. Unless they messed up, and I haven’t seen anything about their xml files being wrong, I think is a bricklink thing. Help!

    • @GJBricks
      @GJBricks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At that point, I’d contact bricklink directly. They’re pretty responsive. It sounds like an error in the XML file. Maybe try using an online XML verification tool - just google it, there should be quite a few. And also ask brickmania about it too

  • @BlockHeadUK
    @BlockHeadUK 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why on earth do they make it so hard? *Surely* it should be easy to do that automatically just like with the other file formats?! Doesn't help that their interface does not really cue the user that there are two tabs at first glance. 🙄

    Far too fast and lacking all empathy with a beginner. You start apparently by loading into Bricklink a file which is already in Bricklink! Video quality poor; can't see where you're clicking; failure to highlight mouse movements means we don't know where on screen to look as you give the oral explanation. I suspect that this video is only any good for those who pretty well know how to do it already.
    OK, I have a series of .xml parts lists saved on my computer. How do I import them (or copy and paste them) into Bricklink?

    • @GJBricks
      @GJBricks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, I’m not sure why you have quality issues it’s a 1080p (HD) video so it should be clear.Can you make sure that when you click the cog on the video it’s set to 1080p.
      And I tried to pace it for people to watch and hopefully not loose interest - a tough balancing act. I will not to do it slower next time and give people the chance to catch up with it.
      I hope it helped though. I was talking to BrickLink the other day and this is one of their most common enquires.
