155mm. Where did you get that measurement from?

Good idea using the the trees as the clamp, I have a v4 and workshop manual says you can remove the whole spring assembly and tube after taking the top cap assembly off
, pretty sure they the same forks, any reason why you didn't??

Wait is that not what I did? lol I took the top cap off and pull the spring out while it was still on the bike.

According to the workshop manual and I may be reading it wrong, once the cap is off, you can pull the whole assembly out without removing the spring, therefore having access to changing seals, dump oil, change seal bushes and then reassemble without any fancy spring remove tools.

I checked the manual and it doesn’t show undoing the top spring mount, only the damper assembly. Once the damper is removed the forks just pull apart, any reason why you’d undo the fork spring retainer??

In order to get the seal out you have to remove the retainer clip. Not quite sure what other clip you are referring to?

Once the seal retainer clip comes off the seal can be removed I get that, the spring retainer that you made a special tool to strap down the spring to re tighten the spring retainer, the manual doesn’t say to undo this as once the damper is removed the tubes come apart to access the seal. Before I dive into doing mine I just need some more clarification.

my 1299 leaks oil, and i can't find from where. My bike only has 3k miles too. Gotta love ducati

Engine oil? You know what know that you say it so does mine! Lol mine only has 6k miles on it. 🤦‍♂️

@itsmeericb definitely engine oil. Let me guess your 1199 leaks on the right side over the exhaust. The joys of ducati ownership. I wouldn't change it for the world, hahaha

If I remember correctly I ordered it from eBay. Believe it had to come from the UK.

Me too brother. I spent 10K on cupped tires 1 blown fork seal and no functioning rear brake. That came from a damn dealer. @@itsmeericb
