    As a 64 yr old Englishman, I grew up envious and jealous of the USA, as did pretty much everyone in the UK and Europe. We wanted to be like you, even as our parents resented the spread of US business and culture. America seemed to have so much to offer the world and if it desperately needed to tackle equality and civil rights, at least the process was underway.
    Today, the USA is no longer seen as a wonderous place. It is almost universally disliked and feared. Like every nation, it has done great things and made mistakes but the sea change in outside opinion came with Trump and the Christian right movement.
    I visit the States a lot and I still love the country and the people but I can tell you my friends that the rest of the world is genuinely frightened of what will happen if the most powerful nation on Earth becomes a theocracy.

    In the late 1980s - 1990 I began performing ( I was an orchestral musician) at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale. D. James Kennedy always came out after our performances and sold his bullshit to the audience. I don't remember exactly when, but eventually he began promoting the "Reclaiming America For Christ" movement which, I assume, morphed into what is now called "Project Blitz". I quit performing there shortly after, and that was when I became militantly opposed to religion and began sounding the alarm. Everyone thought I was nuts. Well, here we are.

    • @feedingravens
      @feedingravens 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For me as german Project BLITZ is definitely hinting at the Nazi Blitzkrieg strategy, used in invating Poland, Netherlands, Belgium, France, even Russia.
      So it shows their cloceness to Nazi-onalist ideology, their sympathy with totalitarianism - and their affinity to use violence to achieve their goals.
      In contrast to the US variant of fascism, I never heard in Germany of the 1930s about a so fervent support by the clergy as the self-proclaimed US clergy practices it.
      Sympathizing - yes, because authoritarianism fitts to the rule of the invisible Strict Father in the sky, but such an equalling of the Leader to a divinely sent person up to declaring him the new messiah himself - never heard that.

      Note regarding "Blitzkrieg":
      In order to achieve these rapid successe in the first few days, the german soldiers were provided with "Pervitin", which was not much different from crystal meth.
      That allowed them to march and fight 2,3,4 days in a row, where the other army's soldiers were totally exhausted after a day or so.
      So these people identify themselves with meth-heads.
      So if you meet some guy speaking positively of Project Blitz, tell them these people admire literally an army of junkies.

      Don't know how he believes the left is about preserving rights. If you look at many left-wing poltical groups/Indvidual's, they support the freedom to end pregnancies and marry who you want but look to control everything else. They want to control whether you put a dangerous chemical(since saying the other word will make you tube censor me) into your body (funny how liberals love protecting big pharma's profit margin in this instance), what weapons you can own to protect yourself (especially when evidence the state is so blatantly unconcerned with our wellbeing), what you can say online or in public, and look to have control over what you can use and buy. So, it's by no stretch to say the left is no more opposed to group think and top-down control than the right wing. I don't see much of a difference between the delusions of socialists and the delusions of religious fanatics.

      I can agree with him up until he talks about the left being about preserving rights. If you look at many left-wing poltical groups/Indvidual's, they support the freedom to end pregnancies and marry who you want but look to control everything else. They want to control whether you put a dangerous vaccine into your body (funny how liberals love protecting big pharma's profit margin in this instance), what weapons you can own to protect yourself (especially when evidence the state is so blatantly unconcerned with our wellbeing), what you can say online or in public, and look to have control over what you can use and buy. So, it's by no stretch to say the left is no more opposed to group think and top-down control than the right wing. I don't see much of a difference between the delusions of socialists and the delusions of religious fanatics.

    The part about this speech where you talked about Trump trying to be a dictator, reminded me of the time when Trump said of President Xi "He was just appointed lifetime Presidency by the Communist Party, we should try that sometime". That phrase, no matter how "jokingly" Trump said it; should have been a RED FLAG to everyone. A sitting President of the USA should NEVER "joke" about something like that; even if it was "I said that to see how the 'leftist press' would run with it" . For me, the reality check moment on Trump was when he "took a knee" to Fauci , and Birx over the "Cough" that came from China, that he helped to fund by reopening off shore Bio-weapon research. Trump likes to cite the Dems, as being the ones that brought down all the lock downs and a FORCED VAX... We all watched on those press briefings as it all started under HIS WATCH, with him standing next to Fauci and Birx; then pivoting "we had a great economy , but we had to shut it all down". YOU, Mr. Trump, shut it all down, YOU set the precedent for what every Governor, Mayor, and all other levels of Government could do to the people of the USA, on TOP of what former President Bush did in 2001. It is clear that this Nation is in a power struggle between two forms of Absolute Dictatorship, instead of being the Independent, and FREE Nation that it is supposed to be. Whichever one wins this debate....I LOSE, I will be in a Nation that I served for ( US ARMY VET), that will see me as an "Undesirable".

    Kitten reporting! A bit lat late, but I'm here :)
    Hearing this after having just read in the news how and why Turkey is banning music festivals last minute because of "immorality", remembering an arrest of a singer a couple days ago because religious people were offended by a joke she made about a band member of hers, is quite painful.
    It does warm my heart to know people care and in some countries people can still speak out against legislation based on moral views of a supremacist group. And I assume that in Turkey people will speak out as well, despite there no longer being any free press and the police and army slamming down protests, supported by a fascist government that is supported by religious extremists, but I (and probably a lot of other people) feel powerless and all I hear from Turkey is what the press in my own country shows and it's sliding toward a theocratic dictatorship faster than anything I've ever seen. WWII isn't even a hundred years ago. There are still people alive who have been through it. Have we learned nothing? Fascism is never the road to progress but always the road to death.

    • @meatharbor
      @meatharbor 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@simonw.1223 The only two reasons I thought of as legitimate for owning a firearm were self defense against a tyrannical government or criminals.
      The problem with the first reason is that no amount of small arms are going to save you from an Apache. If you're ever in a situation where you would need a firearm to protect yourself from the U.S. government then you're also in a situation where there's no gun in the world big enough to do fuck all to save you.
      The problems with the second reason is that banning firearms would make it equally difficult for criminals to acquire firearms while also eliminating the added risks of having a firearm in your home. Also, statistically speaking, a firearm in the home is more likely to harm an innocent (either by accident or by being stolen and diverted to the black market for use in a violent crime) than it is to prevent harm being done by a criminal.
      I did not consider the threat posed by my own damn countrymen to be a legitimate possibility until the past few years. I wanted to give these nationalist/militia/etc. folks the benefit of the doubt at least when it comes to full-blown God damn treason. It's pretty clear at this point that that was a mistake, so I've had to start considering a third possible threat: Open, armed conflict with religious/political civilian militias and hate groups.
      The government is too corrupt and the fascists too emboldened to assume folks, especially more vulnerable, targeted minorities, will be protected without the means to protect themselves.
      Hopefully I communicated all that effectively and it all made sense.

    • @meatharbor
      @meatharbor 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @The Cycle You're way more likely to be harmed by a firearm you own than one owned by a criminal, though. And we're *supposed* to have law enforcement to deal with issues like gangs and cartels, but I'd say the solution for that is to get the corruption out of our governments so we can structure our system of law enforcement in a way that protects and defends *us* and not the exclusive interests of capital.
      I've also never really seen hunting as a legitimate reason to *need* a firearm. I just can't bring myself to view hunting as being on the same level as the ability of our children to go to school every day without having to deal with active shooter drills or, like, actual active shooters. I totally understand how important hunting can be for some folks, but there's not gonna be a perfect solution for this issue and I think it'd be worth the sacrifice. Especially when there are other options like bow hunting. Hell, I wouldn't even really be opposed to folks who are reliant on hunting to be allowed one or two hunting-specific firearms like a shotgun and a semi-automatic rifle or something along those lines. If they're going to be used more like a tool than a weapon then I'd have much less of an issue with it.
