That moen puller is peace of s. I used the first time and it broke on me, wouldn't buy it again if that's the case I can make my own cartridge puller.

You pulled out a new cartridge. How about a cartridge that's 26 years old !!!!!

You didn't mention removing the retainer clip prior to extracting the cartridge. If you don't remove it first, all the cranking in the world with you 'super puller' won't accomplish a thing.

Will this tool work on a 1225 cartridge that has had its core pulled out but has left the plasticity sleeve still inside?...meaning, will the tool be able to bite into the plastic enough so that in can be extracted?
    Nice video by the way!

It seems like a very good tool, but when I went to the website, I couldn't even get pricing without creating an account and registering with a whole lot of personal information. I want to buy the tool without getting sucked up info your marketing funnel web. I have a full machineshop but I rather just buy the tool without all of the marketing hassles...instead of manufacturing my own from scratch...

I ran into the same issue and wound up finding another site to buy it from. Too bad because I wanted to give these guys the business since I learned about it here. This tool should be a good addition to the Ona puller set I already have. I am a little skeptical as to how well it will do when trying to remove the plastic housing and rubber seals once that inner core gets pulled out. Anyone who has tried removing these 1222's in hard water areas knows that these things hardly ever pull out in one piece.

Had to replace a 1222 positemp today and had the Moen puller......didn't realize the design flaw in it until i saw that the chrome nut was actually gonna press against the white plastic tabs on top and bottom of cartridge! Had to twist and pull like a bugger to release the damn thing......... oh well, live and learn right?
This ONA puller has the right idea because of the slots machined on both top and bottom to allow cartridge to be fully extracted.
Great design on this one and thanks for sharing this !

Here is a simple trick to get the valve out.
Take off the shower head and replace with a standard end cap (1/2" black iron cap - less than $2). Take the pin off the cartridge and turn on the main water supply. Wait until the valve is pushed out by water pressure or you can help it out with pliers. (Have someone ready to turn off water supply) Done!

It might work but sometime it stuck in there.
