  • SHEFFIELD | A tour of Low Bradfield, Sheffield
We visit the countryside village of Low Bradfield near the Damflask Reservoir in Loxley Valley Sheffield, and in the boundary of the Peak District. We take a look around from the post office and village shop and village hall right through to the Plough Pub.
Along the way we will see Bradfield Cricket Club, Bradfield Bowling Club, The School Rooms bistro and cafe and more.
Low Bradfield is a village located in the civil parish of Bradfield in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. It's situated within the Peak District National Park and lies to the northwest of the city of Sheffield. The village is known for its picturesque surroundings, with beautiful countryside and reservoirs nearby, making it a popular destination for outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, and fishing.
One of the notable features in the area is the Damflask Reservoir, which is part of the Bradfield Dale Reservoirs chain. These reservoirs not only provide water to the region but also offer scenic views and recreational opportunities for visitors.
Low Bradfield itself is a charming village with traditional stone buildings and a tranquil atmosphere. St. Nicholas Church, located in the village, is a historic church that dates back to the 15th century and is a prominent local landmark.
Overall, Low Bradfield is known for its natural beauty and is a great place for both residents and visitors seeking a peaceful retreat in the countryside while still being relatively close to the city of Sheffield.

I'm really glad you're doing more places outside the city centre! Always been curious about bradfield and never had any reason to go before.

This was brilliant to watch, bringing back memories from 60+ years ago. I remember we would get the bus from Sheffield to Low Bradfield, have a walk round and watch a bit of cricket. I have a vague recollection of opening a gate and letting a couple of cows out onto the cricket field, while a game was on. I watched a video the other day on TH-cam about the flood, something I didn't know about.

    Cant remember Pubs name...

Lovely to see one of my favourite bits of Sheffield on here. The other classic cars are a later Mk2 Jaguar and an MG Midget (and a modern Skoda)

I remember residing at the Children's Home in BRADFIELD in the early 1960s. There used to be what was called a Flying Plank in the grounds which was fun back then. It would have been nice to see what became of the building is it derelict? or gone altogether and maybe been replaced by residential occupancies? Odd to think it is only seven miles from SHEFFIELD in my opinion. great video.

Was that Thornseat/Thornsett Lodge? If so, it’s pretty derelict, but the owners, the Hague family, wanted to turn it into a wedding venue. However, planning permission had been recommended for refusal at the Peak District planning meeting in June. I don’t know what the current status is, but if it is refused, judging on past history, I could see it being allowed to decay until it becomes unsafe then be demolished, leaving the owners free(er) to do what they want with the land.

Hi Emma yes it was Thoneseat Lodge thank you so much for the update I really appreciate you taking the time to make a post. I find it interesting how I do not remember the surrounding area only the home its self. BRADFORD is truly a picture rest place to live.
