Drivers held back by 'INSANE' £9billion Lower Thames Crossing plans that contain 359,000 pages

  • Drivers are being hammered by bureaucracy after a 15-year attempt to build a key motorway continues to be held up as it becomes the UK’s biggest ever planning application.
Plans to build a motorway east of the Dartford Crossing have been supported by experts for years in a bid to ease congestion in the area.
Speaking to GB News this afternoon, Ben Hopkinson, policy researcher at Britain Remade, slammed the developments and highlighted the cost of the plans without anything being built.
He said: “Already £267million has been spent just on the planning application itself, and that’s just one part of the Government telling another part of the Government 'can I build this road?'
“That £267million is more than Norway spent actually building the world’s largest road tunnel.

We soon forgot that the bridge above the Dartford tunnel was only supposed to charge for a few years until it was paid for - now it's an enormous cash cow. Ripped off against and again. The British motorist.

@LondonSteveLee I have 1 question for these investors, What's the point in building it , if there's No Vehicles envisioned in the Future to use it..

@@douglastodd1947 There's always profit in the movement of money - even during a project. That's why politician love mass immigration - GDP goes up even though everyone is poorer on average (GDP/population) - they get a slice of the movement of money - even if it's a net loss to the country.

@@Toodyslexicforyou Yes. Everything cost too much due to regulations. Who makes regulations? Bureaucrats. Why do they make these regulations? Well, they would say " For safety " Or some other idealistic concern. The real situation is that people get paid to declare it safe, people get paid to tell you what is safe to build, people get paid to make sure those last two people are of course from an educated background with degrees in this specific type of safety. People got paid to teach those people this safety. I could go on but the bureaucratic loop is very obvious to anyone who pays attention to these types of things. The system has been building on itself for centuries and the weight is now crushing the normal people with it's redundancies.

@@feathers127so Germany famous for its huge massive disgusting govement regulations right far more regulated market then us it’s a proper mixed economy. How come they can A build all these roads B why are they richer than us. MAYBE cause they have a far better rail, cycling and bus infrastructure which are more efficient modes of transport than us. If you look at projection of USA state taxes you’ll see them increase due to the fact American is practically solely car dependent infrastructure design, road need resurfacing ever 30 years and upfront it cost £ 30million per mile a bridge or tunnel sheesh kabab gonna be hellish. Secondly, London sediment quite a challenge so maybe that 359k is there for IDK THE PLAN.

Used the tunnel even before the bridge was constructed, back in the day before the automation of the tolls, there was a massive fiddle. Toll booth operators were making hundreds of pounds a week. The saying was “one for the bridge, one for me”
Houses were bought, mortgages paid off…

Of course if you didnt have mass migration,
you wouldnt need to massively increase the road network infrastructure to cope with the increased traffic.
As there would not be any increased traffic.
But why not totally neglect the maintenance of old roads into an actual state ever more dereliction and disrepair, when you can simply build new stuff you dont have the money for right ?

Note the different population densities of Norway and Britain, particularly southern England. Note the probs with HS2 due to the number of people to be displaced - and the businesses, factories and the few remaining sites of beauty. Thank God we have tight planning laws or we would already be overrun with motorways, high speed rail and Monopoly-style houses.

There are 76 cities in the United Kingdom-55 in England, seven in Wales, eight in Scotland, and six in Northern Ireland. so how does london get away with spending £9billion on a motorway and billions every year just in london? that money comes from the other 76 cities tax payers or the other 54 cities in england its wrong.

What many Northerners fail to recognise that the National Minimum Wage is the same up North as it is down South. So if you live up North and you earn minimum wage you can afford to rent a a small terraced house or a flat and have a good amount left for the rest of your bills. If you earn minimum wage down south you have to live with parents or in a single room and have nothing left at the end of the month for bills.
