    Made that look like an easy job. Top work. Planning on changing mine on my fiat punto grande 06 (failed on the MOT because of the corroded subframe). After you took the tyres off what were the steps you took to get the subframe out?

      Just make sure any lines or looms are unclipped, support, the subframe, unbolt it from body, we dropped the lower arms with it so have to detach them from hubs. It's not too difficult tbf

    Great video , guys. What alternatives do you hav if a new subframe isnt available? The only ones i can find are from car breakers , so are a similar age : to be re assured i need the front subframe replacing on one of two Toyota T Sport models , 51 plate.

      find one that that dosnt have a rotten hole in the sub frame and your be fine, as thats the only reason i change the sub frame, so go look at the sub frame you want to buy and check it over :) i hope this helps

    Spray the hole subframe with white lithium grease to protect it my grans subframe on her 2010 SE 1.2 is really rusty and the control arms inner and outer tie rods so the hole lot needs to be replaced.

    My garage have advised me my subframe is corroded and needs replacing along with the suspension arms, I’ve sourced the part but I can’t for the life of me find out what bolts, and how many I need? Any idea?

    • @TwoSpanners

      If you look at your new subframe you’re see where the mounting holes are mate your need a E12 socket I think it was and a 16-17-18mm spanners and sockets ect if you was close I’d give you a hand mate

      @@TwoSpanners Haha no worries man, I don’t think the car would make it that far before the subframe gives out, it rotted! Lol. Dealer never told me! I’ve had a lock garage look at it and they said they can’t use the existing bolts as they’re too rusty and rotted so I need to source both the subframe and the bolts. It’s a nightmare! 😂

    Would have been good if you had done it at real time Step by step showing everything close up so you could actually see what to do rather than time lapse at a distance where I couldn't see anything so hence I didn't really learn anything. The music was OK though.

      @@TwoSpanners oh right well that's fair enough, I don't suppose you could tell me the torque settings of the six bolts that fastens the subframe to the car and the two, long bolts that fasten the steering rack to the subframe, the bolts that fasten the anti roll bar to the subframe and the bottom engine mount to the subframe and gearbox? I've managed to swap the subframe but don't know what torque settings to fasten all the bolts at and there are no manuals for this car and if I ask on a forum I'll get ten different answers.

    As always you made that look wayyy to easy but will be good to have this as a reference when I do mine also u may have to put spacers on the bolts for that brace as the exhaust tends to knock it when driving I have that exact same brace and had to do space it as it kept knocking the exhaust lol top work as always boys 👍🏻👍🏻

    My folks car is a corsa 2012 plate and has just failed it’s MOT due to a cracked and corroded subframe and broken spring and she hardly drives the car and no advisory’s from last years MOT which it sailed through, they’ve been quoted £678 including the VAT to replace the parts I’ve just mentioned so I think they’re gonna get a 2nd opinion! I personally blame the state of the roads and lack of money spent maintaining them by councils up and down the UK for this current predicament of peoples cars having issues like this when an MOT is due, it’s awful!

    • @TwoSpanners
      @TwoSpanners  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a stupid price non genuine subframe is around £150 pound and spring is about £50 I’d say around 100-150pound labour max
