Really appreciate this format. No irritating background music is so appreciated. After being a bit freaked by the Hayes narrative am now cracking on with a lot more confidence. Getting the old bolts out is another story, needs time and patience to avoid rounding off bolts and destroying captive nuts. Advise any novices like me to study the many utubes on this topic. Great work on putting this together and sharing.
what is it called the hing thatyou are mounting at 11:10 because mine got hit while driving and now it is bend and i need to buy a new one but im not sure about the name.
Had exactly the same on my 2010 Alfa Mito which shares the Corsa D subframe, control arms, anti-roll bar etc. Front control arm mounting point rusted away and led to the driveshaft popping out. Looks like rot of the subframe and associated steering/suspension parts is common across everything they're used on. The Punto is the same as well, I believe.
@@johnsnowdon2939 I think it’s the weather in the uk that kills the parts on these cars. Vauxhall were seemingly replacing the subframes under warranty. Not sure about the other manufacturers.
Great video, recently did mine. Unfortunately im getting an annoying knock noise now. Been under the car again to check everything is tight but i cant figure it out
Hi, did you renew any of the suspension components? Double check that there’s no play on the anti roll bar drop links, track rod ends, and inner steering arms. Hope you find the issue. Thanks.
Was it quite hard to do mate mine is starting to crack where the control arm bolts too. What did you use to support the engine ? And roughly how long did it take for you to install ?
It’s not hard to do, took me a couple of hours to remove the old subframe, the most time consuming part was removing the 4 bolts that secure the gear selector. You can’t get a decent view of what you’re doing and there is very limited space. I didn’t use any support for the engine as both the engine and gearbox mounts held it in place. Cheers.
I don’t have a link to the part I bought. If you go on to eBay, search for “corsa d subframe”. That should show you a few options for prices and shipping.
Nice work. Quick question, did you note where all of the bolts go? I may have been a biff and stripped the subframe off without noting where all of the bolts go. I've now realised that most are different sizes!
When I was removing the old subframe I set the bolts aside and then screwed them back into where they came out, once it was off. Hopefully you get it sorted. Thanks.
@@jamesbremner9957 you could try matching them up with the old subframe, to see how they look. I’m not sure from memory if those bolts are different lengths. I think the 4 steering rack bolts are notably different from the subframe bolts.
I know the original bolts are expensive at like 6 bucks a pop but i would rather spend 50 bucks on new bolts for the subframe than put some rusty shit on it, but thats just me. you do you, great work!
Fully agree, also they are one time use, coz subframe to body bolts should be torqued 90Nm + 45 angle + 15 angle, lower arm bolts should be torqed with suspension fully loaded and they also have a torque sequence.

Did you just use a rachet on the bracket above the subframe (the bit you couldn't film)

@oxiif.i Hi, I believe it is referred to as a subframe brace bar. Thanks.
Great video, very helpful
Just had mine fail and the lower arm rip out thanks to corrosion so will use your video to replace it 👍 thanks
Hopefully the video will be useful to you. Thanks.

Werr there no bush rubbers for the subframe?
Why did you use old bolts and skrews?
I just sprayed my dad's corsa e with rustoleum apparently they only fit the plastic under trays on germany version's

Nicely mended matey. Looked a bit cold and breezy out there. Keep up the good work, ken?
Sorry, it’s not related to the vid but what impact gun are you using please? Thanks
@@Tidda86 Hi, it’s a Milwaukee M18 FHIWF 12.
Thanks.
Might sound a silly question how difficult was it to get the old bolts out from the old subframe
I used an impact wrench to get them off so it was fairly easy.
Have you got a link to where you got the subframe....my sons car is just about to fail his MOT for the same reason....

A master class!👌
How much do you think a garage would charge for labour on this thanks good video
It shouldn’t be any more than 2-3 hours labour for a garage. Not sure what the average going hourly rate is these days.
Bit late here, but about £500, if you want to use Vauxhall official parts add another £300 to £500 on.
@@sobo5476 Aye. I just paid 780 quid for new subframe and control arms fitted. Sore, but this job is beyond my skills.
