    I love this pedal.
    I've had it for a couple years now.
    You never played with one your missing out on a really good sounding
    Kinda JCM 800 sound but way more focused.
    My favorite things about it are.
    The mini toggle that allows you to change the headroom, the switch that works like a presence control. And the boost which is (according to Josh himself) is a ts 808 boost set just the way Timmons likes it.
    I crank all the way, thats where I live.❤
    I won't be selling mine anytime soon either.

    I love this pedal so much. I still haven't bought one, but once I have the money for one, I'm grabbing one! The first time I played though and AT was in 2015 or 2016, during an audio engineering class. I grew up playing metal, punk, and rock, so I thought all distortion pedals sounded like shit and good high gain distortion tones could ONLY come from a good head, but my old teacher proved me wrong. I played it though his AC30 and instantly fell in love. In 2018, I walked into my old local guitar shop and grabbed a G&L custom shop and plug it in through at AT+ into an AC15 and like you said, I seriously could not get a bad tone out of it! I ended up walking out with the guitar...still need to go back for this pedal and that AC15, but this pedal is for sure my next guitar purchase. I've wanted one for far too long.

      Thanks for sharing! Can't fault the AT+ still despite trying every setting - particularly between the air and filter control. It's amazing for setting a 'warm' lead tone which is what I gravitate towards. I can bare bright rhythm tones but not bright lead tones for some reason - feels uninspiring to play somehow!

    If you look into the pedal the 'Boost' circuit is actually based on Andy's Keeley modded TS808 with the gain and tone fixed where he likes to use it. The main drive sound is based on the JHS Angry Charlie, which in turn is based on the Marshall Guv'nor distortion box. So you essentially get a Guv'nor and a Tube Screamer in one. Also the 25, 50 and 100W settings are fantastic to mess with. Really instanely awesome pedal.

    • @SeanBennettGuitar
      @SeanBennettGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The boost is actually pretty amazing in this thing! It adds some presence and treble as well as volume and gain to my ears. I actually think the boost makes the pedal sound better as there is a noticeable difference in tone 🤣 that’s only a good thing though as the pedal sounds great with or without the boost! Regarding signal chain, it depends really on what other pedals you’re using. I put it last in my pedal chain going to the front end of my amp (immediately after my Ibanez Tubescreamer mini) as I don’t use many pedals. All my delays and verbs go into the effects loops of my amp. Hope this helps and thank you for the kind words 🎸🤘🏻 I hope you enjoy this great pedal!

      Hi mate, thanks! I’ve been playing through single coils tonight actually, and they sound just as good as humbuckers through the AT+. With single coils I’d say you get a bit more tweak ability with the EQ on the pedal - since the attack pops more than a humbucker to compensate for a darker tone. Thanks for commenting!

    • @SeanBennettGuitar
      @SeanBennettGuitar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s enough of a boost I think - however, I do keep another boost on my board (TC Spark) just incase I need more volume than I anticipate. I’m usually switching between using the JHS AT+ and the JHS Morning Glory depending on the amount of gain and tone I want when playing live. I always use the TC Spark with the JHS Morning Glory but not so much with the JHS AT+. The TC Spark is awesome though!

      @@SeanBennettGuitar nice 👍 I have the tc spark aswell and it’s great after my gains to use as a volume boost, I have a blues driver and a Nobels ODR-1 then my Jhs AT+ will be after those so I’m thinking maybe adding the spark after that and just using as a boost for the Nobles and Blues Driver 🤔 anyway my AT should arrive in the next day or 2 so I’ll figure it out 😂 Thanks

    • @SeanBennettGuitar
      @SeanBennettGuitar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve had both. The Angry Charlie is great, but I ended up selling it years ago. I don’t mind not having a mid control on the AT+ as it’s perfectly dialled in and doesn’t need tweaking to my ears. I’m always able to get a great sound from the pedal no matter what other gear I use. If the bass or mids seem too much, I just use the air control for more upper frequencies to rebalance the sound. I hardly have to do this though unless I’m going for a bright rhythm tone - but that’s not what I usually use it for.

    Thanks for the demo! I have been trying to decide which pedal to buy, whether the AT+ or boss angry driver. The boss lacks some of the settings I could get from AT+, but it includes whole new overdrive to it, so I guess it should actually provide much more options than just the AT+. I would choose AT+ over angry charlie, however, it´s rather more difficult to really compare AT+ to that boss angry driver. Any tips?

    • @SeanBennettGuitar
      @SeanBennettGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for commenting! I’ve seen the Boss angry driver before but never been able to try it. All I can give you, being very honest, is my opinion on Boss which may cause me to get some hate (probably). For the sake of honesty, I don’t like Boss pedals and have always sold them whenever I’ve bought one. The only Boss pedal I’ve come across that I’ve liked permanently is the GE7 equaliser (think that’s what it was called). I think that’s why Boss pedals were always being improved upon by Keeley and JHS modifications. Saying that, I do know the Angry Driver is a Boss collaboration with JHS - which is the only reason I would bother trying it at all. I would definitely try both pedals if you can first; however, the beauty of the AT+ (in my mind) is that it does one sound but brilliantly. Sometimes lots of options on a pedal gives ‘option paralysis’ and the quantity of sounds reduces the overall quality of each. Just some things to consider! Let me know how you get on 😊

    Hello Sean, can you tell me if this pedal is inherently noisy, or if it’s just my individual unit I’m having trouble with. With distortion and boost both engaged, the hum is unmanageable. Even using with a noise gate (ISP Deci-mate mini or a TC Sentry, neither are slouches), they struggle to tell the difference between the hum and the regular guitar playing signal.

    • @SeanBennettGuitar
      @SeanBennettGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, I hate to say but my pedal is extremely quiet. I only use it on a clean channel however, but there is no hum whatsoever - perhaps the tiniest bit when both the pedal and boost is engaged. This is also when the pedal is in the same signal chain as other pedals using the exact same power adapter. Sounds like you need to send it back if its still the same on a clean channel? Must be something wrong with it or something I can't think of.

    I tried using EQ after the fact, And I also use 2 Amps, one is miked up, the other uses a cab simulator. If it had a bass knob on it, I probably would’ve kept it. EQ after the fact with the PA affected my overall tone too much, and I’m not interested in running an EQ pedal along with it just to get what I needed. Maybe I’ll try the angry Charlie.

The JHS AT+ and Ibanez Tubescreamer are the only overdrive/distortion pedals that have ever stayed on my board. Both I use predominantly for lead and just the amp for rhythm. Depending on which blues overdrive you mean, I just couldn't get on with the Boss Blues Driver as much as I wanted to. It was harsher sounding than a Tubescreamer in my amp setup.

    My friend the PRS MT15 is NOT a 15 watt head, rather it is exactly a 24,49 watt head in full and when you flip the switch in the back to half it is a maximum of 11,7 watts, Why? Well I've seen the tests and the results done by a technician/musician. This head has 2 6L6 valves in the power section correct? Well there is no way you can produce less than 10 watts with a 6L6 valve, in point of fact a single 6L6 normally produces anywhere between 11 and 20 watts of power. Two 6L6 will easily produce a minimum of 21 to 22 watts in the case of the MT15 it produces 24 and a half watts. here's the vid. th-cam.com/video/IHDDcdX5OaI/w-d-xo.html ... Cheers. Mike.

      Fascinating! Thanks for sharing the link and the info. Explains why the thing is so unbelievably loud! Much louder than the Victory V30 I used to have. I’ve never been that hugely interested in amp design or the technicalities of things, but this is really useful to know. Thanks again! Shocking that they didn’t market it as a 20 watt head at least 😊
