I saw them twice at the old Glasgow Apollo in 1977/78. They really blew the roof off the place. These were the sounds of a very special era when punk rock was emerging that will live with us older dudes for ever. Very sad Jet and Dave have both now left us. I can still listen to The Stranglers today as if it was 1978. They were a unique band, RIP Jet and Dave. The music will live on.
One of the biggest bands ever! The Stranglers wrote their biggest hits, created a new genre and still sell out. Simple Minds weren’t bad but quickly lost their way after a couple of years 83-86. All good. This track belongs to Jet and Dave who disappeared without the public send off they had earned.
Absolutely agree about Simple Minds! They went the U2 route of big anthemic arena rock & lost their uniqueness. Thinking back to Sweat in Bullet, I Travel, Sister Feelings call they were so different. Different like Joy Division were. Original, edgy & very interesting. The Stranglers still rule, however.
First band I really became a fan of, 1978, I was 15, bought 5 Minutes, then Rattus and Heroes lps for Birthday/Christmas. Then later Black and White. Great memories.
I actually got to talk to Hugh back in the 80's when they toured San Francisco, I called in to a Radio station and got straight thru (The Stranglers were not that known in US at the time). They put on a great show at the Kabuki Theater. Miss you Dave and Jet.
The 4 songs Jet played were on the Ruby Anniversary DVD as extra features. They decided to use a performance shot in Paris rather than another live DVD shot in the UK as they were offered a deal.
RIP Dave &Jett ..Really one of the big bands ever.
The original 4 were great. More of a new wave band than punk. Their musicianship and intent always came through.
👌🏼
@grobbler1 hugh cornwell once said that we're too old to be a punk band.
Always brilliant, rest easy Jet Black ❤️
You're still putting out the beat Jet Black
No Hugh no good.

Man , seen them at the Barrowlands a good few times over the 80s and 90s ..one of the tightest live acts I've ever seen .
at the ulster hall Monday night....almost brought a tear to my eye when I gazed up at the drum kit and the keys

Great ! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Jets last live performance (done 4 songs from memory), was at this gig and was filmed for DVD release which never materialised.

I remember seeing these in the Mayfair newcastle late 70s and were pelted with bottles because they thought they were seeing a punk band.
Son mejores los clásicos que los grupos nuevos de ahora
C'est comme le vélo ça ne s'oublie pad
I actually liked Pauls version the best. I think he did it great
Men are beautiful.
Stefania 81❤u
Original Version
Jesus he’s no Cornwell.
Try and catch Hugh on his current tour, he's playing loads of these hits. No one can replace him
Where's Cornwell
ロンドンレディが好きでした。
Well, without Hugh Cornwell's voice this just isn't it.
Totally agree ..... flat as a pancake. ..... 5 seconds in and disliked
Shame when a band becomes their own tribute band.
No more comments peaple don't worry no music
Where can i get this dvd?
Try direct from the band
is this the 80s STRANGLERS......????
