I saw a girl's storytime for a show similar to this and in her video interviews, the interviewer kept getting angry at her for not saying the mean answer. He kept trying to guide her to say that she would've "hit a bitch" or something and the girl got really offended because she would never. They try to scout/guide people to be willing to appear on the show as the jerk. I remembered: this storytime was an America's next top model audition, they were not blatantly (but it was obvious) trying to cast her to be the bitchy model that shows up halfway through the show.
I think the men get their egos boosted from having 30 women competing for their affections and it goes to their heads. Whereas we women are a little more used to men harassing us, and find it exhausting, so when a woman is chosen as Bachelorette having a bunch of men compete for her affection is not a totally new experience for her (except maybe the sheer volume of them at once), and she’s just so ready to get rid of all of the annoying ones and get down to just one guy by the time the whole thing is over

It meant that women needed to be picky with their mates and what DNA their offspring would inherit from said mate. on the other hand, men could more easily mate and pass on their DNA to as many kids as possible and those from the best female mates (meaning most nurturing and with "healthier" genes) would most likely survive.

Juan Pablo indeed turned out to be one of the worst, but he didn't start out that way. When I rewatch his season, he was pretty good until his top pick--Sharleen Joynt--self-selected to send herself home. After she left, it was like he gave up hope, and with it, gave up his sense of decency and manners.
Jojo was my fav season just because all the men had a role. And they were always happy or making it feel,alive with all the dumb things they did or everything that Chad did or said. Plus all the boys from her season seemed to be straight up frat boys like almost everyone 10/10 like in no other season

I think it's because the set up of the Bachelor is much more true to life. In real life, women are the ones choosing between men and making those decisions. Men aren't good at these types of scenarios. Men don't have an eye for match making. Women do.
