I think Trista was a double winner. She escaped being the ex of the first bachelor and found love with a poet firefighter.
Also their proposal was so genuine and romantic 😍 they don't have romances like that on the show anymore. Back before it was all about getting more followers on instagram

Trista was the OG tell-it-like-it-is Bachelorette. Rachel got flak for this (and sure, she does have more of an edge than Trista,) but it’s part of what makes a good season...and Trista laid an excellent foundation. Trista ❤️ Ryan 4ever 😁

I noticed the last few seasons the average age seemed 25 with the last bachelor contestants mostly being around 23. I’m not a long time fan of the show so idk fr but it did seem like they were in the later 20s back then

Lena Cloos With a Hannah claiming to a be Christian, that has certain connotations that goes along with that in people’s minds. I think it would have been different if she hadn’t brought that into the show but until the next Bachelorette airs we won’t know if that double standard is still there

Can Chris Harrison retire already? These flashbacks have shown how "over it" Chris has been for several years now.

I didn't realize that Ryan was not a frontrunner from the start. Nowadays, the guy that gets the 1st impression rose always seems to win. Doesn't have to be that way though. I'm glad she kept an open mind and gave Ryan a chance:)
Even though Charlie felt uncomfortable with her sleeping with other guys (which is also logical), he kept it classy and respected her decision and could totally understand where she was coming from, and didn't let it affect their relationship. Take notes Luke P.

Her season was my "favorite" she kept things classy! My favorite date was his hometown when she slid down the pole and they sat on the wedding deck and kissed even though the sea world date was cute and his poem was sweet that kiss they shared while the sun was setting was romantic!

THE BACHELORETTES TAKE THEIR SHOWS MORE SERIOUSLY.
Trista was the first season I ever watched and I loved her! 4:57 I feel like when Charles made the comment about Trista being with other people in the fantasy suite and the way Trista responded is the true example of how the Hannah B and Luke P situation should’ve went down! Trista is the real OG!

I mean if a guy or gal is not gonna be comfortable with that I get it, because outside the show people do tend to want exclusivity.
That said, I think in general Luke P was not mature enough to be on the show at that point in his life. Hopefully he has done some soul-searching since then.
Charlie and Trista seemed very respectful.
@@MalloryNewcomb I don’t think it’s wrong for someone to tell the lead that makes them uncomfortable, but I think the way Charles and trista went about it and how they communicated it is the way to do it. Hannah was kind of a bitch about it and Luke had been becoming the villain the whole season.
@@alannashea6344 Oh I agree: their fantasy suite date talk was just the last straw for Luke who had been slipping in her eyes… either the other men slowly wore down her opinion of Luke or mounting concerns about Luke developed on their own for her. I don’t know.
I appreciate somebody finally saying that Hannah Brown handled it very poorly because she did. Some of Luke said was inappropriate or a very poor explanation of his thoughts sure but some of her reactions were extreme… and I have an idea about why: I watched an interview with Luke Parker where he says she had slept with most of the men and also Luke & Hannah B had a lot more religious convos than what was shown… so I think that brought out a different side of her when she was around Luke P. A side that was uncomfortable with sex before marriage and Luke believed that her anger was her latent expression of a guilty conscience. Given her beliefs, it would make sense to me.
By that point in the show, Luke and Hannah did not understand or respect the person in front of them for who they really were in the way that Charlie and Trista did
Your mum has good taste. I was rooting for Charlie all the way. But even though Trista shocked us all by not picking Charlie, she picked who was good for her in the end.

Likewise... I was team a Charlie all the way! I felt so sorry for him at the time but he handled it with such grace. I’m glad that things worked out for him. I thought Ryan was a nice guy but a little different. That was a shocking twist! I was just glad she didn’t pick the creepy guy... Ewww... 😝

Come to think it, Charlie was the Lon to Ryan's Noah.
And in retrospective, Ryan and Trista carried the weight of the "this may work" promise of all the franchise for ages: it would be over eight years for a lead to marry the person they picked at the end of the show (Ashley Hebert / JP Rosenbaum).
People make a big deal of the whole "marry the final pick" thing, but I count Jason and Molly and Arie and Lauren as success stories.
I hope, hope, hope they recall Ashley and JP’s season. It's so underrated! It does look like they will though. 😭

I think I preferred Charlie too. At the time, Ryan seemed too over the top with the poetry. But my friends loved the poetry. Trista seemed smart though and she seemed to have picked right.
I was like "Wait... you're telling me there's another bachelor channel that's called "Bachelor Momtake"?!?!" I had to do a... double take... get it...? XDXD
I wish they have given this abbreviated season showing more time (Alex's season was much longer comparably), but I guess they wanted to highlight the wedding at the end and do a follow-up interview. Russ ended up being "the villian" - the guys thought he was slimy and didn't appreciate him bringing that Tiffany box the first night, which set their animosity off from the start (maybe because none of them thought of the idea first!). Russ is the one who Trista went and hung out in the fantasy suite with on-camera and then left to go to her own room: which is why I commented on another recap when Chris Harrison had said that the situation with Chase and JoJo hadn't ever happened before. Although the Chase/JoJo thing was much different since Russ and Trista hadn't expressed their feelings like Chase did and neither left angry. I'm glad that Trista and Ryan are still happy all these years later, and it was neat to check in with Charlie because he seemed like such a great guy.
Trista was very lucky because she had two great guys at the end of it and it just came down to which she wanted more. But seeing how her and Ryan are still together nearly 20 years later, she certainly made the right choice. Nice to see Charlie is doing well too.
The guys called Russ “the chisler”. Maybe jealousy but they were right about him being so dang pushy and it eventually turned Trista off.
i looked up Brad Womack because i want to know who he was and this was his fast recap of his life on Wikipedia "best known for appearing and failing twice as The Bachelor on the reality show The Bachelor." ;P

@@erinkoster8654 arie and jason are still married to the women they chose. Sure they married their runner ups but at the end of the day they chose someone from their season. Even though they chose the runner ups it proves that the runner ups were the true winners of their seasons seeing as they're all married and have children with them. Runner up or not 3 bachelors are married to the woman they chose from their season

That was the first season I ever watched and I can confirm all of Momtakes takes were accurate. I was shocked she picked Ryan but happy they have made it work.

I watched this season back then and rooted for Ryan all the way. Heck, I think I was also falling for him. And the show didn't mess with the editing that much to twist things.

Charlie didn’t think Trista was intelligent enough for a wallflower like Ryan. A guy who says that about two other people might be more of a jerk than a guy who like Russ who comes on too strongly. Charlie didn’t think Ryan was serious competition for him but a lot of the guys in the first few episodes said things like that but weren’t around long enough to see Ryan was the only one they should have worried about although , I thought it was obvious from the second episode that Ryan was the one Trista was falling in love with while her other connections were not as strong or were just physical like Russ. The funny episode is the friends meeting him, not one liked him while one said she thought Ryan was the one for Trista and the other said Charlie. One was right and one was almost right but both were right about Russ!

If i remember correctly Russ blew it on their overnight date, Trista said she didnt want to spend the night with him. I think he got demanding and weird and she was like 'nope red flag, boy bye'

I honestly understand if the contestant has the "I don't want you to have sex with other people talk" I just don't like the bias of how a guy can do it but not a girl. It's just that thought of how can you get engaged to someone else the next week and have sex with a different person the week before? IDK that's probably why I could never be on this show.
