I agree saying "I'll tell you in the morning" is a strange thing for someone to say. Plot convenience. But the ore did come from the wall, it's just that the wall was not on their property.
Several things really bugged me about the Bonanza series. One of them as in the Bonanza series movie, The Jury, was that the entire town was against a person who was being changed as a killer. However, there was no proof, and usually Hoss is the one that wants to hold out until he is proven guilty by a real trial. So what bugs me, is that when the person who they have been so eager to hang is proved innocent, they don’t extend the film and we would have the satisfaction of seeing the people that were accusing, that they were wrong.

Nope. Big Ben Cartwright decides what's legal and what isn't. Now Ben wants to prove that the silver really came from the Gould-Curry mine , which Ben just happens to own stock in (@5:19)
31:46 why don't they go after them lol 33:25 Ben sure has a habit of getting good men to put themselves at risk and be killed. This is the second time in one episode. 40:12 Pretty bad writing. I know. I've binged watched up until this 2 season and this show and the prices they mention on things are usually way higher then today's prices. For example, when a woman in another Bonanza episode went to her lot to work a mining lot she had purchased. After the miners found out how good she cooked. So, instead of mining she set up a tent with Adam as a partner and started cooking and serving food to the miners. At first her steak and eggs breakfast was $4.00 and then by the end of the show after changing the price 3 times she charged $15.00 for steak and eggs. These are NOT prices that reflect that time frame. It's happened on many of shows where I think.WOW that's EXPENSIVE.

Sherriff Roy Coffee was the worst sheriff in the world. He always made the worse judgements, never gave anyone the benefit of the doubt. He always accused folks of being guilty before they had a chance of being proven innocent! LOL Glad he isn't the sheriff in my county!
Or couldn't do anything about it until the Cartwrights prove the case.
A young Vito Scotti.
Wasn't he the butterfly collector on Gilligan's Island
Born in 1918, @ 43 years old in 1961.♥️👍
If this scam worked then they would deserve it from their own stupidity.
If the ore isn't on the Thunderhead then it can be proved with a survey.
Ben and the boys were in the mine illegally, so wouldn't they be in trouble for shooting the men inside the mine who were after the trespassing Cartwright's.
Nope. Big Ben Cartwright decides what's legal and what isn't. Now Ben wants to prove that the silver really came from the Gould-Curry mine , which Ben just happens to own stock in (@5:19)
sheriff Roy is owned by the Killer Cartwrights
2 of bens friends die in this episode terrible what greed does to some men
31:46 why don't they go after them lol
33:25 Ben sure has a habit of getting good men to put themselves at risk and be killed. This is the second time in one episode.
40:12 Pretty bad writing. They would have had at least one guard stationed at the air shaft at all times especially since that's how they already snuck in.

The ending should have been different. Realy a bad ending. The story was pretty good. But...i do love Bonanza 😀
Great western
