A few notes on the events covered in this video: 1. We don't know if Guthrum and his Great Summer army arrived in Britain before or after the battle of Ashdown. 2. It is not clear if the Danes had a complete control over the north Northumbria and Alt Clud (Strathclyde). Halfdan definitely controlled the southern part of Northumbia, but his rule was shortlived.

Yep I had lived in Winchester for much of my young life and recent time before moving to near Southampton and there was a statue of Alfred the Great in the town centre.
Nice video. Did you know that Alfred while besieging Guthrum held a feast right in front of his walls knowing full well that the later was lacking food n supplies. Guthrum's fortress was a self-maintained prison until he decided to surrender. Alfred after converting Guthrum to Christianity tried to treat him like a fellow monarch. Alfred was a very forward thinking King. Good on him. My compliments to those who made this video a reality.

But, because of the Mexican Liberals' risky decision to split their forces into two divisions to combat the double threat, they won two resounding victories against both forces, forestalling any hopes for a quick conquest by France.
