What a fun take on this quilt! Yes indeed, I watched Saturday morning cartoons with my brother. The Jetsons were probably our favorite. Fun fact, our cat had her first kitten on my lap while we watched cartoons one Saturday. 7 year old me didn’t actually know that kittens do not emerge all fluffy, so my 5 year old brother and I ran yelling to our (sleeping) parents about the rat our cat just laid.
I need to tell you that I love your quilts and I love your background music. You always have the perfect song for each and every project. I assume that your years playing the piano gave you a kind of gift to hand-pick the right music. I really enjoy listening what you choose for us. Thanks for your channel. Greetings from Brasil.
Oh Dave, I am so old!! We watched Jetsons, Flinstones, Rocky and Bullwinkle (my favorite), Looney Tunes, Huckleberry Hound, Quickdraw McGraw, Mighty Mouse, Tom and Jerry and lots of live action shows (mostly cowboy shows) My kids watched there shows you watched! My grandkids watch Anime shows. I love the TV quilt and immediately bought the pattern!😜
I absolutely love this quilt. It makes me think of the TV on the Jetsons! I am almost 80. Yes, I watched Saturday morning cartoons, with my dad! Mine were old school, Buggs Bunny, Road Runner, Sylvester and Tweety. The Jetson's started after I was grown. We watched The Flintstones, Lost in Space, Land of the Lost. Really educational TV! Ha!
Omg what a FUN quilt!!!! Scooby Doo, Flintstones, Land Before Time, Speed Racer, SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK! As long as we didn’t wake our parents up we could watch Sat morning cartoons until our brains were MUSH!😁 If we woke them up we had to quit & start chores.😑 Needless to say we learned pretty quick to be quiet!💗💕💜 LOVE THIS, SEW FUN!!!!!!
Always love watching you create. The quilt came out wonderful. I was born in 1956 and I loved the Saturday cartoons there were so many of them. My children grew up with He Man and My Little Pony and Rainbow Bright but also had classic cartoons like Bugs Bunny and Tom and Jerry. Saturday morning line ups sure aren’t what the used to be. American Bandstand and Soul Train are also iconic Saturday TV programming. A blast from the past that really took me back thanks that was fun. Happy new year 🎊😊🎉
Oh My Goodness, I Love how this Quilt Looks ❣️❣️❣️ Yes, I watched cartoons and loved most of the ones that you watched. You add a lot of fun to your videos. Thanks for Sharing, 🥰👍❤️ Chris
Hi Dave, I look forward to your videos featuring your incredible quilts. What a creative mind you have! I laughed out loud as you brought this one to life. You are a welcome breath of fresh air. Thanks for sharing your artistic gifts. Very sincerely, J
I love the energy of the TV shapes .I watched 1970s Sat morning cartoons. Actually, cereal bowls or cereal box covers would make great alternate blocks. Keep being yourself, we love love love it.
OMG! I love this one. You are a breath of fresh air and you inspire me to quilt my lil gay heart out. I loved the Smurfs and I noticed your Snorks t-shirt, another fave.
You said it best Dave, “It’s stunning!” Congrats on a fabulous, evocative, and splendid creation. Saturday morning cartoons was always a special time for my twin sister and me. We spent it with our Gramma Lily who treated us to endless ice cream sodas and bagels as we sat way too close to the TV and giggled away the hours! Thank you for giving me a stunning visual to remember my grandma and revel in her love and devotion to us.
Quilting gives me anxiety because my corners and points don’t meet. But here the tv feet and antenna doesn’t have to be 100% accurate, there’s flexibility where they fall. Awesome!
Yep! Super-awesome stuff! I’m born in the 70’s, raised in the 80’s, so Saturday morning cartoons were (cue dramatic word) critical to our lives…we discussed them, incorporated them into our play - life was good! I really liked Spider-Man (although from the 60’s) and I liked the smurfs and pac-man. I have also been fortunate enough to have studied under a voice actor for many of the classic cartoons years later when I tried my hand at voice-over doing radio commercials, and he worked with Mel Blanc!
Oh honey! When I was a kid the Flinstone's was an early evening prime time TV show that my whole family watched. Not kidding. Saturday morning was Mighty mouse(if I could get it past Mom who thought it was too crazy), the Mickey Mouse Club(not a cartoon), and Soupy Sales(also not a cartoon but very funny). Got to ask you--"Dave, do you sleep? I mean, you are so productive with these inspiring and fun quilts." Also, do you have a day job? Maybe you are a lottery winner who is spending his millions on quilting fabric and camera equipment?
lol I think I probably don't get enough sleep 😅😂 I do work full time as I have not won the lottery *yet* although I hope to win soon! I work in my craftroom mostly on the weekends then on weekday evenings I get some quilting done and I edit videos :P
Child of the 70s, omg LIVED for Saturday morning cartoons and Sugar Smax cereal!! Flintstones, Jetsons, Scooby-Doo ( ultimate#1), Tom and Jerry , Coyote and Roadrunner!!!!!! Still love 'em. Your quilt is awesome! Happy quilting.
Omg Dave!! My favorite video especially with the excerpt of the color bar and the god awful blaring noise that would make us scream for the cartoons to come back on!!!’ Hahaha I am from the 60s so Bugs Bunny, Road runner, HR puffin stuff, land before time (sleestacks!), broom Hilda & foghorn leghorn(bugs bunny), Sesame Street…very fond memories ! Can’t wait to make this quilt!!! Thank you for sharing ❤
Absolutely FANTASTIC! I have to learn how to make this quilt and make it for my son who is about the same age as you Dave! He would be blown away getting this for his birthday this September. He would love to use it as a wall hanging too. I just discovered your channel this evening. I have been binge watching and having so much fun. I loved the quilt you just made with the Orphan blocks from your Mom and then had her come on to share the history behind each of the blocks used. That was so fun too! I hope your Mom will agree to come on camera sometime in the near future. You two made a great team doing that quilt and video together. I must admit, I have never made a quilt before and I am just a tad scared of making the cartoon TV quilt. I can't think of anything I could do to make him happier. Great way of remembering so many fun Saturday mornings in his childhood. 🙂
Wow! I loved the sped up voice…it made me laugh. I understand about reading directions, so frustrating at times. The other day I wasted so much time ready a section!! I finally found some TH-cam videos to help. This quilt is awesome! Great job! I love your creativity!!
Love u Dave you keep everything real! Love the pattern, it’s always good to challenge yourself. Great job. I’m way older than you and we did watch cartoons. To old to remember which ones, LOL!
I loved Gargoyles. I actually took one of my brunette barbies and made it into a gargoyle. I love your work. I enjoy watching your videos when I'm working in my sewing room.
Love it. You are so talented. I will be 70 this week so my sister and I watched Looney Tunes cartoons on Saturday morning. Saturday mornings were the only time the kids had control of the tv. The rest of the time we were the remote control as in "go change the channel" or "go turn up the volume".
This pattern Dave was made for you. I can see your excitement when cutting at angles and sewing at weird angles appeals to your creative brain. Excellent video once again. Love your screen pics. Lucky you can get hold of interesting T-shirts. Wow
Genius quilt! You are an artist. I grew up in the UK but we had a lot of the American cartoon shows like The Flintstones, Scooby Doo, Spider Man and Road Runner but my favorite was Wacky Races.
What an entertaining video and terrific quilt. Love it! I want to make a quilt for my tv-living husband and add one tv to the back - maybe in a corner? Or maybe do a tv for me with Lassie on the screen. Hmmm. Thank you!
The quilt is so stinkin' cute. I'm so old I watched Road Runner and Tom & Jerry and Mighty Mouse. With my daughter it was Flintstones and Scooby Doo and Smurfs and Huckleberry Hound. When I watched with my first granddaughter, we loved Fraggle Rock. And I suffered through Barney with my grandson. Thank you
This quilt is so rad! Gen Xer here so I watched Superfriends, Rocky & Bullwinkle, School House Rock, and Looney Toons. I'm really inspired by what you did here and am picturing a quilt for my husband with Star Trek (all of them, I guess), Knight Rider, all the animated Batmans, Superman . . . he has enough favorites for a king sized quilt. This pattern plus your wonderful modification is like a gift. Thank you, Dave, and Happy New Year!
I'm older than you so my favorite Saturday morning cartoons were all the Hanna Barbera ones. Super Friends, Scooby-Doo, etc. Complete with the commercials for sugary cereals and awesome toys where you used your imagination so the possibilities were endless. I love this quilt and watching your creative process ❤
I watched cartoons! I’m GenX and Scooby Doo was my favorite when I was young, Space Ghost Coast to Coast when I was older. LOVE this quilt! The cartoons coming from the screen were a brilliant idea. Love it love it love it!
Within the last week, I stumbled across your channel. I have been binge watching your videos since. I love art and sewing and I appreciate your content. I love how you apply your creativity and style to come up with something that is totally unique!
Great video! Yes, I watched Saturday morning cartoons and so did my children. I watched Casper the Friendly Ghost, Flintstones, Bugs Bunny, Scooby, Road Runner, to name a few. 😉
I was born in 1963. 5 brothers and sisters. Saturday morning cartoons? Of Course! Plus Roller Derby, Gumby, AND Luche Libre! "Free Wrestling" Sad to think kids don't do Saturday Morning Cartoons anymore!
Absolutely love it. Your ideas and creativity, great! I watched even some you didn’t, possibly, Looney Tones, Tom and Jerry and the Flintstones among others. Thanks for sharing.
What an exciting quilt! Loved watching you make this and reminiscing Saturday morning cartoons. Scooby Doo was and still is my favorite! Just subscribed, thanks for sharing your talent. Happy New Year!
My siblings and I watched Saturday morning cartoons...and weekday cartoons as well (I think they were only on for about half an hour). So many have been mentioned already, but I also remember Watch with Mother, Wooden Tops, Andy Pandy, Pinky and Perky, The Clangers, Deputy Dawg, Wacky Races, Top Cat, Yogi Bear, The Huckleberry Hound, Popeye the sailor man, The Pink Panther Show....
I just love your Saturday Morning Cartoon quilt. Super cute idea. I made a mini with just I Love Lucy inside the TV block from Lori Holt. Love your idea to do it with cartoons.
I love this and all of your quilts. So exciting when I see you have a new video. I have never tried turned edge appliqué because it seems kinda tedious. Are you familiar with the technique for putting fusible and fabric right sides together, stitch all around the edge of this then slit the center of the fusible so you can turn right side s out. Push out/ smooth seam edges. The fusible side is out on the back, the edges have been tuned under and you can iron down and then topstitch in place.
What a fun take on this quilt! Yes indeed, I watched Saturday morning cartoons with my brother. The Jetsons were probably our favorite. Wow!! You wrote almost exactly what I was going to say! The only difference is that we didn’t watch Land of the Lost. I’m almost 67.
I completely forgot the Jetsons, Flimtstones, and Lost in Space!!! I’m a 60s girl!
Dave, I'm 76, I quilt, and you are the best. I love love your ingenuity. You are a good quilter.
I have wonderful memories from the early 70’s laying on the couch with my dad watching Saturday morning cartoons together…
Oh yeah also….kickin ‘stache and love the moosica!
Love it! I’m 66, and I watched cartoons on Saturday morning. The road runner and coyote were my favorites!

I could watch you all day….wish you were my neighbor
Me too! We could have our own little quilt circle. Actually, with Dave, we would need a really big table to fit in all of your admirers!
I love everything about this quilt. The TVs are screaming “Jetsons” to me, and the ghosts are so cool!
Oh My Goodness, I Love how this Quilt Looks ❣️❣️❣️

You are awesome!!!!!
