    Thanks for taking the time to produce and post this. Just got an Aeros, a Beat Buddy, and the Singular Sound Midi foot controller. Definitely a learning curve to climb integrating all of them into my guitar playing and singining as a live performance tool, but that's the nature of musical instruments - they take time, discipline, and dedication to master. Especially the guitar lol. BTW - Outstanding playing brother - very fluid and melodic. Guessing this isn't just a hobby for you... ;-)

    This is my next purchase with the beat buddy included. The short loop length in my Helix is killing me. Great for short little jams, but really needing some extended loop time. Singular Sound built a sexy little beast with this unit.

    Hi Colin. First time viewer to your channel. Really, really nice demo of the Aeros. Clear and well thought out explanation of it's functions and capabilities. (Good playing, too) Would you have a thought as to whether I could hook this into my laptop via a usb/midi interface and have my drum software follow the Aeros? Or vice-versa? Thanks in advance.

    • @ColinGaileyGuitar
      @ColinGaileyGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Mark! I don’t think you’ll be able to control the Aeros from your drum software unless it can send midi cc’s. Vice-versa may be possible but I can’t say for sure. Many new features have been added via firmware releases since I did this video. I’d recommend taking a look at the Aeros manual as well as the Singular Sound forum. Hope you find your answers soon!

    I found that when I set it to mono and I play some premium content from singular sound it’s not the right patterns for the artists songs , but set to stereo everything is perfect, maybe I’m just dumb and have something else set wrong, but ether way I absolutely love my new Areos !

    • @ColinGaileyGuitar
      @ColinGaileyGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re welcome! I connected the Aeros to the Axe Fx III using Input/Output 2 so I could place it at the end of my signal chain. This way you can switch between tones without it affecting previous loops.

  • @Windpuppy123
    @Windpuppy123 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sounds great! I have the morningstar mc8 and wondering if the aeros is fully controllable via your RJM (and hopefully my mc8)?

    • @ColinGaileyGuitar
      @ColinGaileyGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! At the time of this firmware the Aeros was not 100% controllable through midi. That being said, most of the major functions can be tied to midi control via midi cc’s. Check the Aeros manual’s midi section to see what can currently be done. And yes, the Morningstar MC8 should work great!

    Hey great review. If you get more in depth into the Aeros I would like to know best way to connect mics to loop vocal sections (as aeros has no mic preamp or phantom power).

    • @ColinGaileyGuitar
      @ColinGaileyGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Two ways you could go here: 1. Use a mixer for your vocal mic(s) and use the mixer’s aux out to feed the input or aux in on the Aeros. 2. Get a small single channel mic pre like the Rolls MP13 to feed directly into the input or aux in of the Aeros. Hope that helps!

    • @ColinGaileyGuitar

      You’re welcome! I used a Fractal Audio Axe-Fx III for all the sounds except the drum loop. I used the pitch block to drop the guitar down an octave for bass sounds and used the synth block along with some reverb and delay to create the synth pad sound. Thanks for watching!

    Great demo, just got me one recently. Wondering if you could point me in the right direction. My set-up is very basic connecting guitar into Areos then into my Katana 50. What do I need in my set-up to use the different affects from the Katana on different tracks or overdubs? At present if I change from say clean tone to lead, every track changes.

    • @ColinGaileyGuitar
      @ColinGaileyGuitar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Greg! Ideally, you’d put the Aeros in an FX loop to take advantage of the different tones you switch between like clean and lead.

    • @ColinGaileyGuitar
      @ColinGaileyGuitar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are certainly other options! You could also use a mixer or many powered PA speakers have a couple channel inputs. This way you could change tones without it effecting the output. Check out the example setups in the Aeros manual.

      This is how I do.
      My amp doesn’t have a direct out, so I mic my amp and send that to a mixer.
      Then you can change the tone on the amp and keep the original track coming out your pa.

    • @ColinGaileyGuitar

      I’m fairly certain this is possible. You just need to find the correct midi CC/PC numbers in the Aeros manual.

    • @ColinGaileyGuitar
      @ColinGaileyGuitar  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Mikael, I’m using the Fractal Audio Axe Fx III. To emulate a bass, I pitch the guitar down an octave, add a substantial cut to the high EQ using either a shelf or low pass filter, then run it through a bass amp & cab simulation. Here’s a link to a video where I go over this in detail. th-cam.com/video/VlQXaJqreyo/w-d-xo.html

      The “Count In” option is in settings. You can choose how many measures you want as a count in but be aware this only applies to the first track in a song part.

    What is that effects pedal board you are using? How does that compare with the Midi Maestro?

    • @ColinGaileyGuitar
      @ColinGaileyGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pedal board is an RJM Mastermind GT10 which is just a midi controller. All the amp tones and effects are coming from the Fractal Audio Axe-Fx III. In my opinion, RJM makes the best midi foot controllers by a long shot. Great interface, easy to program, and more capabilities than any other controller I know of.

    • @ShawnMichaelLord

      I already paid my friend 50 bucks to help me lol I at least got it hooked up. But not at the most efficient way

    • @ColinGaileyGuitar
      @ColinGaileyGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand! It can definitely be confusing getting everything hooked up. How you connect everything depends on how you’re using that gear. Are you using any overdrive from the RP1000 or just the Marshall overdrive? The simplest method would be to just connect the looper last in your chain. In other words, last thing into the amp. It can be a little more complex depending on your needs but start there and see how that works.

    • @ShawnMichaelLord
      @ShawnMichaelLord 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ColinGaileyGuitar I'm not sure what overdrive means....Rp1000 2 wah pedals and yeah I chained looper last but the loop was not cutting through well enough at all....Thank you for your response.

    • @ColinGaileyGuitar
      @ColinGaileyGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Overdrive AKA Distortion AKA Gain. The reason I asked is many times people will want to play chords with a clean tone and then switch to a higher gain sound to play over the loop. This can cause your loop to change tone as well if it’s not hooked up in the right way. If your loop is too quiet, raise the level using the loop volume slider on the right.

  • @ryancrarymusic
    @ryancrarymusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Dude what update do you have? I cannot get this thing to do a free form loop at all... It leaves a gap (almost a full measure) on a riff like "Drive" from Incubus....

    • @ColinGaileyGuitar
      @ColinGaileyGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m pretty sure it was version 3.2. at the time of this video, it was the first firmware release to have the lock track function. That’s frustrating it’s leaving a gap! Are you using the latest firmware? If so have you tried rolling back to an older firmware? If you’ve already tried both of those things and still having a gap I’d recommend posting in their forum. They’re usually pretty quick to respond. Good luck, let me know how it works out!

    • @ryancrarymusic
      @ryancrarymusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ColinGaileyGuitar yeah I narrowed it down to the tempo... I can’t disable it to be truly free form like I do on my RC300.
      Latest firmware on there. I was just able to loop super easy songs (as long as the tempo is correct).
      I think that is the biggest drawback for using this thing the way I hoped to..

    • @ColinGaileyGuitar
      @ColinGaileyGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You sure you’ve got it set up correctly? Tempo should be irrelevant in free form mode. At about 7:18 in my demo I’m using free form without tempo or quantize. If you have the pedal hooked up to a beat buddy or external midi clock it will automatically conform to tempo otherwise free form should work like your RC300.

    • @ryancrarymusic
      @ryancrarymusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ColinGaileyGuitar interesting. I haven’t been able to disable the tempo feature- but Quantize if off and loop sequence sync is off... not sure what switch I’m missing?

    • @ColinGaileyGuitar
      @ColinGaileyGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you don’t have any midi devices plugged into the pedal and the particular song setting you’re using is set to free form than it sounds like you’ve done everything correctly. Wish I could be more help but at this point the forum is probably your best bet. Hope you’re able to get what you want out of it!

      Yep, afraid so. I didn’t find it limiting for my style of looping, is that a game changer for you?

  • @lashram32
    @lashram32 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Things they wont tell you: You have to edit every single loop by hand to put them in your Daw or they won't line up. There is no Auto Quantize even tho it is advertised as so, if you are used to using the boomerang pigtronix EH Mxr Ditto or boss loopers for live use with no external midi clock or tap tempo for everything, too bad for you. The expression jack doesn't work. The Bluetooth doesn't work. The usb doesn't work. The volume wheel is problematic. There is a 2.5 minute limit on all tracks. You can't import from Daw therefore no backing tracks. Midi is crazy town right now. There is more, just start reading on the gear page or SS forums. This product may be awesome 2 years from now (the hardware is promising)... maybe even one year from now, until then stay Away! Nothing against the people who have reviewed this product... but find people who have not been sent free units and kick back from SS. There you will find more honest reviews. Until they hire a competent software dev team you are paying a lot to be a beta tester.

    • @ColinGaileyGuitar
      @ColinGaileyGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, the pedal does have some flaws. That said, I spent a lot of time with it and the missing features you mentioned didn’t prevent me from getting a musical result. As with most pieces of gear, It just comes down to individual needs and preferences. My biggest complaint is that it was a bit tricky to use 6x6 mode without individual buttons for song parts. I found that was an easy fix combining the Aeros with another Midi Foot Controller. Also, I gave this presentation purely on interest, no compensation or free unit from the company. My opinions are completely unbiased and always will be. Personally, I feel SS is doing strong work with the Aeros. It’s not perfect, but I found it to be an inspiring pedal. And I think it will get better and better as time goes on. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and I hope the company continues to listen to people like you.

      I sent mine back after a week since it would not sync with my Roland drum machine which I have over 100 songs stored. Also I wanted to play different time signatures on same song without jumping to another program. I’ve used boss loopers over 16 years, and wanted to downsize my large boss for travel. I picked up the new boss rc500. It’s manageable but has some problems as well, but is half the cost and has large storage. My back feels better with the boss and the new fender GTX 100.
