    A good way to use song parts with ambient music is to lock 1 or 2 tracks so they continue playing as you change song parts. That'll give you the seamless transition to different themes you can build based on those locked tracks in the different parts. You can even fade those locked tracks out and in to mix it up

    Yeah, nice. You have cracked into that syth-scape backdrop world. Looks like the Aeros is a natural tool for this. When you realize your song parts connection technique- you talked of- you'll be way ahead of the game. Thanks for sharing this.

    Very impressive, Bill! Great demonstration and a gorgeous song creation. I've been taking. serious look at the Aeros - I'm an old dinosaur, so the technical aspects scare me a bit. Your demo helped created a good starting point for those of us who do take the plunge. Bravo and keep up the great work!

    Brilliant! I've been twiddling around using a single loop pedal. This unit expands things so much !! Thank you for sharing and doing what you do so well.

    I like what you're doing by making a series of videos on a pedal, like with this and the EHX Attack Decay: first impressions (pure music); an explainer, like this; and whatever else you feel is important to us. It gives us context and much more useful information. Thanks!

    This is one of the best loopers I've seen. Easy to use & intuitive. However I think it's over priced at $700...$400 - $500 would be the sweet spot considering other things exist around the $700 or below range that can do more besides loop...Line 6 HX Stomp, Headrush MX5, etc.

    Hey bill. Great video. I have had the Aeros for a while. I like the visual it gives of the track…but where I think it really shines is taking midi clock (in my case from beat buddy and being able to shift back and forth between song parts.

    Hi Bill - I’d love to see how you get on with using song parts for your ambient music. I believe you should be able to freeze/spill over a track or several (?) to the next song part having for example drones you played in song part 1 - reappear in song part 2. Everything in Aeros is midi mappable so maybe it will even be possible to select/mark tracks on the fly you’d want to continue into next song part with a midi foot controller not having to bend down and use the touch display?

    Maravilloso Bill !!!!!

    Great demo as ever Bill. I'm currently using the Boss RC10 for both ambient and conventional playing but recently upgraded to the RC600. Unfortunately the RC600 gives me a headache every time I use it. It's not that intuitive to program and I have made it harder by completely customising it so I have 6 loops starting and stopping from the main 6 pedals. I always get hung up on whether the track has the drums going, whether I am in free or quantised mode etc etc. Nothing guaranteed to ruin the atmosphere of an ambient performance more than unexpected drums coming in :) I've also found the RC600 occasionally has a brainstorm and does weird things. This looks like a great device and simple enough for my ageing brain to comprehend! I used to love endless options when I was younger but these days I just want things to work as simply as possible. I put this down to wisdom and not senility however :)

    Great tutorial here Bill, thank you. One of the interesting things I think is the fact that you are not using the looper as an out n out foot pedal, something I do as well but having to make a blank loop to give me the static time to then play over and overdub. The Aeros seems to allow more flexibility especially in freeform.

  • @neiluj233

    Hi. I really love the aeros looper. I wanted to buy it but now I have the looperlative looper in my Mod Devices. It's a 2 track looper with 2 part for each track. Tracks can be synchronized or not and you can stack up to 3 synchronized looper so you can have a 6 tracks looper in the box. The most insane is that you can save your track in slots, up to 120 slot are available and recall your setup when you want. All that in the same box. Many month ago you tested the dwarf, but there are new good things. Thanks for you music, I love what you're doing.

  • @BojanBoyss
    @BojanBoyss 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very inspirational video, thanks! I think the looper is great if we neglect the price. Very similar to a software equivalent called Melda MSuperLooper which can do 16 tracks (I think) but "only" 4 layers per track. I don't use layers at all with it and maybe half the tracks, usually 4-6. In a hardware world I do similar "thing" with Boss RC-500 and Jamman XT like this: I record 2 tracks to RC-500 then when I need more tracks I record those 2 to Jamman as a backing track, then I move to next empty memory slot on RC-500 for 2 new recordings and so on. Like a cave-man but it works :) Jamman serves just to temporarily listen while on RC loops are stored, unlimited separate loops which later makes making a song out of them easier. Even those loopers I got relatively recently are pricey IMHO but I told myself: hey, you only live once

    @jfroines 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've been looking into loopers to go beyond the looping functions built into my L6 Helix, still not too sure about which way to go, but this Aeros is in the running. I want to be able to both "traditional" sync'd looping for "verse/chorus" stuff, as well as more free form sound on sound stuff, with maximum flexibility for both.

    lovely vid. amazing sound. I dont see the reason why you placed the looper before the big sky tho. i thought there would've been a reason for that, but for this vid the big sky could've been perfectly placed before the looper right ? Also, in the settings you changed it from RPO to ROP and you didn't use the immediate overdub at all. for what you did in this vid, it would've been easier to leave it as RPO right? I'm new to these things so just trying to understand. love your channel and your vids! :)

    I've already a Pigtronix looper, a Microcosm, and the Ocean Machine, plus the loopers in the Plethora. I really don't think I need this one. I mean it looks like it adds some convenience for recording, but I could probably just plug into the DAW and record each piece and let them play for a length of time and play them back, or let the DAW record each loop into its own track.

    Thanks, this pedal has a smaller footprint than my DITTO X4, which I have wanted to replace for sometime now. I was looking at the boomerang, but the Aeros looks amazing.

    • @cfibanez
      @cfibanez 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      UPDATE: Hello Bill. I got the unit to replace my DITTO X4 based on your comments here and its ability to decay loops for frippertronics. But, although I got it shipped with the latest firmware, the decay feature was not present and I find that it is neither mentioned in the manual provided nor the company website. May I ask how you got that feature into your unit please? Thanks in advance.

    • @cfibanez
      @cfibanez ปีที่แล้ว

      NEW UPDATE: I saw your posts in the SingularSound forum. Now I understand that the decay function is available in 4.3.x; but it has unfortunately been implemented incorrectly. I guess you will be returning your unit and I will have to do the same with mine. DITTO X4 to stay on my board for now. Too bad!

    • @cfibanez
      @cfibanez ปีที่แล้ว +1

      YET ANOTHER UPDATE: Well, I doubt anyone read these, but in case someone lands here, I should report that I have been in contact with SingularSound and got word from them confirming that this feature will be implemented in a way suitable for frippertronics, that is, with decay of layers during continuous overdub. So, we should perhaps hold on to our units a bit longer and wait to see what they come up with. My best. /C

    It is possible to "lock" some tracks over the song parts to keep some kind of the basis over the whole song. But also to keep the song evolving by changing the other tracks.
    Great video as usual, btw :)

    • @ToddRichmond
      @ToddRichmond ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep! You can easily lock certain tracks on the Aeros so they will continue to play in different song parts.

    It is more expensive than comparables once you add Beat Buddy (bad name) and Maestro. On the upside the 6x6 song mode is a lot of looping power....

    I use VCV Rack for looping, and it's completely free! Somehow I don't think playing guitar through modular synth software will ever be hugely popular though. Y'all want these shiny expensive pedals....

    I'm not really into loopers, but this really seems cool and powerful in an intuitive way. Especially having an actual visual way to see and modify the loops, as the fact that one mistake basically destroys your loop is my most disliked aspect of loopers.

  • @insight1563
    @insight1563 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks Bill for your demo and this discovery ! very interesting pedal. I am a Boomerang User. I think you had never use this one don't you? as a Dittox4 user? :)
    I have 4 stereo loops available and nice functions which allows me already most of what this pedal does (Decay during overdub, seperate volumes ; free or synced loops, serials, octave and reverse).
    I could really use this one, but seeing + and - i can still keep limiting with 4 loops there are already so much possibilities :) Sometimes hardware limitations are good. Also i am afraid to watch too much the screen while playing :D
    Best regards, Robert

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Looks like it is similar to the original TC Ditto, which is a great little pedal. Given that the Legato is 25-30% cheaper on Amazon (compared to the Ditto), I would expect there to be some compromises. That being said, Amazon has free returns on the Lakato, so I recommend getting it and trying it out to see if the looper meets your needs. If it does not, you can send it back - no risk...

    It’s just not a matter of deserving a piece of gear or not.
    Well I think that loopers in particular are like instruments themselves. One device fits to ones taste and way of playing it better than others.
    Some are voted to song based looping rather than loops transforming and textures layering.
    For example, I find the Aeros Loop studio a really cool great looper, but I think it’s not a device that fits for my use of live looping in my typical guitar performance.

      3ms - you'll never hear or feel it. And there is a lot of computing going on here for 6 tracks in stereo. Love it and now v5 is here and silent switching it is ordered. I always liked the idea of this looper, but it had too many missing essentials until now. I wonder now what Bill is making of the software upgrade? I have virtually the same pedals but plus an mx5 instead of an Irridium...whoa, the possibilities :)

    The magic is the money they take from people- way over priced. It also does not create ambient anything. It loops. You still need an effects pedal.
