    Hi Alex, My problem is I bought unbalanced cables that rum from my monitors to Focusrite audio interface.. Then my interface is plugged into the back of my PC through a USB cable.. But when I turn everything on I can hear what sounds like computer processes through my speakers, when I not even playing sounds through my PC.. Do I just need balanced cables or is it a different problem..

      Thanks, I'm glad you found it helpful! Sounds like they could be unbalanced cables, you might want to grab some TRS cables! If that doesn't do the trick, you've narrowed it down to your monitors, interface, or something inside your DAW. But hopefully it does the trick! :)

      That would be frustrating! Sounds like you've narrowed it down quite a bit. If you've troubleshooted all the connections, it could be faulty monitors. I'd check in with the distributor or manufacturer at this point!

    I bought a ground loop device still the same. I use different wires still the same. I mostly get the noise when I open up my studio programs on my PC that's when I start getting this nasty sounds . it's not as bad when I have none of my programs open only when I hook the speakers into my audio interface and open up my studio programs. I didn't have no problems on my 5 inch woofer but as soon as I hook up some new 8 inches monitors that's when the problem started and I have balanced cables . the guy out guitar center told me to get a new interface. I just hope if I do the problem don't still be the same. please any advice?

    my experience with my first studio monitor + unbalanced cable setup (presonus eris 3.5) is that the system crackles after it puts itself into away or shutdown mode so i come back after sleeping and there is a really high chance that there will be crackling in the monitors. What has fixed it every time has been just resetting my computer. Balanced cables coming in the future to avoid the annoyance though

    • @Brukner841
      @Brukner841 หลายเดือนก่อน

      my 3.5s started hissing(with that boxed in crap rca cable) but the hissing would dissipate, first within 10-20 seconds, then it got longer and longer, now they hiss, crackle, ultrasound ping, from anywhere, away from the pc/mac, is it worth fixing them, you think? I'd imagine the cost would equal their value. I didn't test them with proper balanced trs but I have a feeling the hiss is permanent now.

      @@Brukner841 I have been looking for answers for my possible challenge with my Presonus Eris E 3.5's I just bought. My left studio monitor, which is the master is clipping/distorting at certain levels of gain and the slave doesn't at all even at the highest level and it only sounds like it's distorting out of being pushed too hard just like any other speaker or speakers would if you push them above their SPL I guess. So I wanted to ask if you have ever experienced anything similar to this due to using unbalanced cables and the clipping/distortion happens when playing certain songs with bass or kicks. It does not go for every song. I am confused as to whether this is my studio monitors alerting me of the problem in the audio I'm playing or it's the speaker that has a problem.

    • @Brukner841
      @Brukner841 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@myke_vinz it's probably the speakers, in my case, the distortion used to go away, then it just got louder and never went away and then the high frequency ping started so some capacitors must have failed, I just gave up on near field monitors and will try and compose on some quality AKG headphones, I bought some clear sounding Edifier S1000s for listening, the 3.5's may have not been made for heavy use given they're super entry level, I do miss their pure clarity in the mids, got 5 years out of them.
      If I had used the balanced line ins with my old Saffire 24, they would have kept going, but I hate spending time on my ancient firewire mac.

    • @myke_vinz

      @@Brukner841 I suspected that it is the speakers too and reason why I'm suspecting it is the speakers, it is because I bought them from the used market and I have no idea where they've been and how they were used and for how long. So you had distortion too?
      Sometimes I also feel like the distortion does go away too because some songs won't have the distortion on some days when I playback through them and them there's distortion sometimes and it's like it varies. It is not consistent. I have kept in mind too, the fact that they aren't made for heavy use and their drivers are small and they aren't able to handle what other bigger monitors can. Why don't you try to get them repaired?
      I believe they can be just like I'm looking to take mine's to a repair shop

    • @Brukner841
      @Brukner841 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@myke_vinz I did have distortion and a constant hiss, I read that repairing them can be costly, I paid only 90 euro for them new but judt diagnosing them and changing one capacitor would be around 50, and I wanted bigger drivers so I gave up on them.

    • @audioedges
      @audioedges  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry to hear it’s giving you trouble. Try switching the right speaker to the left side and the left to the right. If the problem persists on the right side and you’ve already ruled out the cable, then you’ll know if it could be your interface, speaker selector, or whatever is next in line. If the crackle switches sides with the speaker, then it probably is that speaker. Given you’ve already swapped out the wires. Hope this helps and good luck! :)

    • @audioedges
      @audioedges  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you've already switched out the cable, I'd check the back to see if you monitors have any EQ, volume or other settings. Sometimes you can bump a knob or button on the back while moving things around, so you'll want to make sure they're both matching. Does that help?

    For example, my mic is connected to the computer via usb and my earphones are connected directly on the mic itself. Recordings have no problem but I hear the crackle as I monitor my own speaking voice so it's distracting :( . Would getting TRS earphones solve that? thanks so much!

    • @MrHellfinger
      @MrHellfinger 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The stereo plug on your headphones kind of looks like a TRS only it's not. Really, it is two unbalanced signals with a common ground. Try plugging into your computer instead. I bet the noise is coming from the mic amplifier (the one your headphones are plugged into).
