The triangle and rounded square tools are there for beginners! I remember years ago when I had to look up a tutorial for how to create a triangle in Photoshop because it wasn't obvious, so I'm glad they finally have it even though it's not necessary. Same with the rounded rectangle, a new user won't understand right away that the corners can be modified with the round dots on a normal rectangle. One day I'm going to sit on your channel and watch every video you've made to become an adobe master. I can't keep coming here for quick fixes... I MUST LEARN THE WAYS OF THE FORCE.
One reason legacy tools remain in programs after better functioning tools or methods are added is that removing the code can cause bugs. It is extremely difficult to predict the impact the removal and removal would increase the testing needed prior to shipment. It is therefore more expensive to remove the old function than it is to leave it in. Another issue in programs like Ps is that users can create automated Actions and if some of their Actions leverage a tool that is later "replaced" by a better method, removing that legacy tool in a new version of the application will break their Actions when they upgrade.
That's a lame excuse. For one, as a programmer, I can tell you that the first part is simply not true. Each of those "tools" is a button to enact an event handler mode. If you remove the button, even if you leave in the code for the mode it simply never gets used. This can't affect anything else. As to the second bit, all you have to do is put in a translation for removed tools. Have an action that needs something? Make it so, when run, the action just does it the new way. That said, actions *don't use tools, which is what this video is about*. You can't make an action that says "paint shit here". That's not a thing. This is just useless apologetics for Adobe's shoddy development, and I wonder if you either work in downtown San Jose, or if you just think that saying "actually!" followed by dumb shit that show you have no idea what you're talking about makes you look clever. I'm here to alleviate that last problem. Hey everyone! Dwig Gang isn't clever and has no fucking idea what they're talking about!
Pattern Stamp tool is great for recreating pattern in fabric. It lets you also change the brush opacity and set its blending mode. Rounded Rectangle - that round edge selection was not always there, hence the old tool still exists. And it is more straight forward to use than going into the submenus of rect tool.
Thank you so much unmesh. It would be so difficult without you and piximperfect to learn photoshop. Even if u r criticizing the tools u taught us about their better Alternatives. Thank you for being an amazing teacher 👩🏫 love you❤❤
Hello Unmesh. Could we request an in depth video on retouching studio paper please? For full length shots where the shadows and lighting are slightly uneven. What would your recommended fixes be? Keep up the amazing work.
LOL, I died when you talked about the "Magic Eraser TooL" saying "There's no magic it's more a tragic thing ...." ....that had me laughing for a while. Thanks! and keep up the awesome work you do in your content creation.
Dodge and burn are a pre-digital darkroom technique for photography. Used all the time in analog prepress for lightening and darkening parts of photos. Ps has a dozen different ways to accomplish the same results these days however.
In PaintShop Pro, which I use alongside Photoshop depending in which is best for the job at hand, I've always appreciated that although obsolete tools were removed from the UI, you could always customise the UI to bring back that favourite tool which had disappeared.
I can see the Triangle tool being a useful go-to like a rectangle or an oval/circle, which are very common elements, especially for signage. While it may only be a savings of microseconds, it does eliminate the mental hurdle of having to "set up" the triangle settings within the polygon tool.
Interesting ... I use the pen tool when I coloring comics. It is so that sometimes I need to close open lines, and I do it with the color the object should have. Then the pen tool works better because it gives sharp edges. It does not matter if I put the brush on maximum hardness, it gives a slightly fluffy edge. Which can be a problem. (It would be nice if they had a value on the magic wand so that it could accept a small gap in a line. As an example, 20 pix, and then if the opening is smaller it does not leak, it is larger, then it leaks out.) If anyone knows of any similar plug in, I would be grateful.
As someone who works primarily in small digital sizes, the triangle tool and rounded rectangle tool streamline "call to action" boxes & symbols for me. In a really fast-paced industry (i'm in the auto sales industry), any seconds I save make my bosses happier. They (the corners/rounded corners) also just seem to "work" properly and proportionally when you're only working in a 300x250px size. Certainly in an ideal world where I'd have more time for more control and on larger canvases, the polygon tool and regular rectangle tool would be perfect. That's my experience.
At one point in time the old tools were the way, as Photoshop evolved they either made better tools or added new functionality to older tools. I think one of the reasons they do not remove the old ways is for backward compatibility. Maybe there is an action out there that uses the rounded rectangle or the pattern stamp. Removing those would break those actions. It is simply better to leave them in and also have newer (and better) ways when they emerge :)
I love all of your content. Thankks for doing what you do. If you could lower your volume compared to other youtube channels I would probable click sooner and more often, tbh. Great work overall, tho.
Oh no, please don't say minimalist.. That's the worst design thinking approach in my opinion. I still have not gotten over the fact that the tools & toolbars are no longer coloured in PS.
The rounded rectangle tool is a holdover from the old days, before adobe put that corner radius deally dot into photoshop. It wasn't even in illustrator until a few years ago...

One day I'm going to sit on your channel and watch every video you've made to become an adobe master. I can't keep coming here for quick fixes... I MUST LEARN THE WAYS OF THE FORCE.
9:31 Seems someone hasn't seen professional concept artists like John Park or Jama Jurabaev using that tool like crazy.
You can tell he's having so much fun doing this video 😂😂 what a funny video man. You're absolutely correct, I don't know why these tools even exist.

About "Dodge and Burn tools"
Unmesh: I never heard of them.
Hello! I have a lot of similar and interesting things on my channel😘 support us
Dodge and burn are a pre-digital darkroom technique for photography. Used all the time in analog prepress for lightening and darkening parts of photos. Ps has a dozen different ways to accomplish the same results these days however.
Interesting and informative as usual, thank you so much for sharing!)
And also, cool take on the GTA theme in the end!)
Nice work, thank you for tutorials
Thanks for sharing this good idea in Photoshop.
The pencil icon is really cute though. Hahaha!!

Thank you so much :) you are an excellent teacher !
In PaintShop Pro, which I use alongside Photoshop depending in which is best for the job at hand, I've always appreciated that although obsolete tools were removed from the UI, you could always customise the UI to bring back that favourite tool which had disappeared.
You are wonderful in your explanations,
Thanks for sharing this useful information.
dude you are the most captivating speaker i've ever met
You're the best photoshop teacher I've ever find on TH-cam

even stupid Flanders is not that stupid compared to these tools! thanks a lot for the video!

As an example, 20 pix, and then if the opening is smaller it does not leak, it is larger, then it leaks out.)
If anyone knows of any similar plug in, I would be grateful.
For comics, pen tool is life
Dayyumm it's not as easy as you show😭
How are you so great!!
WOW,awesome helpfull tips my friend
As someone who works primarily in small digital sizes, the triangle tool and rounded rectangle tool streamline "call to action" boxes & symbols for me. In a really fast-paced industry (i'm in the auto sales industry), any seconds I save make my bosses happier. They (the corners/rounded corners) also just seem to "work" properly and proportionally when you're only working in a 300x250px size. Certainly in an ideal world where I'd have more time for more control and on larger canvases, the polygon tool and regular rectangle tool would be perfect.
That's my experience.
Love the intro tune. The Sly!!
The color change technique was GOLDEN,, what a beautiful and powerful way to to that! Thanks alot ^^
I love all of your content. Thankks for doing what you do. If you could lower your volume compared to other youtube channels I would probable click sooner and more often, tbh. Great work overall, tho.
Thanks for your great effort and your excellent work
I agree. should be minimalist
Oh no, please don't say minimalist..
That's the worst design thinking approach in my opinion.
I still have not gotten over the fact that the tools & toolbars are no longer coloured in PS.
Yes, make another video like this, I would love to hear a better option for dodge & burn tool for example.

MIND BLOWING
Thanks for sharing great info!
Nice closing statement 👍👍
The rounded rectangle tool is a holdover from the old days, before adobe put that corner radius deally dot into photoshop. It wasn't even in illustrator until a few years ago...
