- Learn How to Change Extreme Black Color with Very Little Detail to White with Photoshop! In this tutorial, we will use precise masking, Hue/Saturation, a ton of Curves, and most importantly; techniques to hide pixel breaking.
Whenever we are changing black to white, since black has very little details, making it brighter might learn to loss of detail. In this video, we will focus on how to repair/cover those areas with special effects and grading.

for the last step you can do a noise reduction and if you do that very strong, there arent that many breaks left, now u can add a little bit of clothing texture if it looks to smooth,

Followed through this tutorial. Thank you. I tacked something on from your X-ray video. After adding the Envato overlay, I created a Shift+Ctrl+Alt+E layer, duplicated that layer, turned the duplicate into a Smart layer so that I could adjust later, and added a fairly heavy dose of gaussian blur. Then I hit MY favorite key, *Enter.* I adjusted the Smart layer blur to where I felt it worked best. For this photo, I found what worked best was far below 400 and closer to 50. Love your videos!

A word of warning: I just recently had to do black to white/coloured examples on a vehicle photo. Most of these tricks work well only if the photo doesn't have too many artifacts (happens with JPG at ca. 70 quality) and JPG loves to optimize dark patches since it's visually less visible. Now, once levels are fiddled with, it can blast out and you possibly might need to fix junk by hand.
Would love to see the raw tutorial to do this. Thank you for everything you teach! Just Wow!!

Great video man. You doing godsent work for people who want to learn photoshop.
As an illustrator. I'd like to point out that you can and maybe should use gradient maps to color the tie (maybe the shirt if you wanna)
Because gradient maps allows you to play freely with the color that will assign to values.
Now why is this important?
In the video the background was fairly greyscale so it works.
But in some cases like outdoor moon or maybe just a super red room. Something called ambient will take place in the photo.
With gradient maps you can have the shadows color moving toward the ambient and making it more believeable.
