    2:30 The cheapest Tap: Proliferate that I could find was 4 mana. There are 1 offs that Proliferate for 1 or 2 mana, but no +1/+1 counter nor ability (besides flash, etc) to proliferate again. The sword is an option to have a permanent that can proliferate more than once. If part of ones Atraxa deck is Poison counters, then the Sword should stay.
    While I don't have an Atraxa deck (I do have an Ixhel one) I will have to agree that almost all these cards would not make the cut.

    Hating thrummingbird and grateful apparition is kinda crazy. I understand why, but I see it as an opportunity to keep proliferating instead of a onetime effect with an instant or sorcery.

It runs 30 planeswalkers, 32 if you count the Liliana and Nissa creatures that flip into planeswalkers. Not in my list, never will be. Some of it is getting poison counters on them all at once, instead of killing one person by turn 2 and the table murdering you can build up the poison counters all at once with a lot of proliferate and spells. My comment is in response, to all the little small toxic and infect creatures listed

    Why not keep sword of truth and justice. It puts them on a 2 turn timer to commander damage death with atraxa. It's an extra win-con in a single card if they don't have removal early.
    turn 3 - play atraxa
    turn 4 - play and equip sword of truth and justice > swing with atraxa for 6 commander. give +1/+1 and then proliferate that twice (1 sword, 1 atraxa)
    turn 5 - swing again with atraxa who is now 9/9 with 6 keywords. (15 commander total)
    turn 6 - swing again with atraxa who is now a 12/12. assuming no other proliferates or boosts from planeswalkers. for 27 commander (death. and a 2 turn kill for anyone else).

    While I've been convinced to cut Ajani, Sleeper Agent, I do think you guys are *a little* low on him. The Superfriends deck can struggle to close out a game. His -3 and his ult both provide (divergent) avenues to that end. The -3 doesn't just make Atraxa a 3-shot, it introduces more counters for her to proliferate, but it benefits off her lifelink. That matters because she also has vigilance, so she becomes a much better deterrent. Furthermore, Ajani Emblem doesn't have to kill 3 players to be worthwhile. Even if it kills just one that was enough. And you'll do it by just playing the game with Atraxa in play. Furthermore, with ability copying synergies already present in the deck, you can sometimes double up on both effects.
    That said, yeah. The +1 is dookie and probably disqualifying.

    I actually disagree on the counter spells. Usually, when im wanting to counter a spell, it's late enough in the game where my opponents will already have 3+ poison counters. Additionally, I found that trying to have the extra pip for a classic counter spell was an issue because of how many pips you need in atraxa overall.

    Who is information for? I have 2 atraxa decks and never even seen some of these cards. This information seems bad for experienced players...

    • @RedOphiuchus
      @RedOphiuchus ปีที่แล้ว

      This information is based on EDHREC inclusions as they allude to a few times throughout the video. Basically, they look for % of decks including these cards to see if it's frequently used and if so they include it in the topic.

    • @jcalendar882
      @jcalendar882 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RedOphiuchus even then the information is off because there is no way to really get updated info. The thing with that information is that people used to put in those cards back then as they were the only cards around. I don't really think people know how to do research on some of this stuff. This is the same with the edhrec cast, they see info and will put something challenging the stats without properly checking up if they are in recent decks. Like some of this info is from really old decks when you didn't have a variety, I've asked if there was a way to narrow cards that were put in recently as opposed to how unique they are.

      Reyhan with Blade of Selves is also a commander damage kill as early as turn 3. T1 Sol Ring/Mana Crypt into Blade of Selves. T2 Reyhan. T3 Equip and swing. 2 Reyhan tokens are created and both die to the legend rule. The 6 counters from the dying Reyhans are seen and replaced by all 3 Reyhans for 18 counters on the equipped 3/3. Kicked Rite of Replication is 90 counters. This sort of counters abuse gets out of hand with extra and double counters effects.

      @RedOphiuchus ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the general assumption that most people have is that when making a commander deck you have a large list of cards you think would be good inclusions and you trim down until you select your deck.
      The default assumed suggestion in these videos is to cut the cards they're suggesting and replace them with just about anything that almost made your list the first time through but barely didn't make the cut.

      @nickchaput219 to be fair, in the beginning of each section, they give general cards to replace anything that doesn't fit. Cheap instants and sorceries that proliferate, even if they don't do much else, as the general one. Cheap creatures that can give poison counters for poison strategies.

    I feel like a lot of these opinions are completely ignoring what Atraxa does for the deck, especially for Ajani, Sleeper Agent. No, you don't need to play 15 creatures or Planeswalkers to kill the table with poison damage, because you're going to be proliferating to reach the end point, which is the entire point of the commander.
