fantastic! I'm a (young compared to most!) fan of gaberlunzie and have the album of this concert! Great to see in video. I love this song. it's my favourite from the album. Thank you so much for putting it up! They were a huge part of my life growing up because i basically lived with my grandparents and was brought up with music like this. me and my granny used to go see them every year in Kincardine. i want to see them again soon. hope they come back to Glenrothes soon! Thank you!
I was the exact same, grew up listening to these guys from such a young age, still have the video tape of this live, and still listening to them now, just a shame there isn't a DVD of this set as I think its the best album they made

Lyrics Wha will ride with Gallant Murray Wha will ride with Geordie's sel? "had Prince Charles slept during the whole of the expedition, and allowed Lord George Murray to act for him according to his own judgment, he would have found the crown of Great Britain on his head when he awoke." James Chevalier de Johnstone
Problem is he would probably have lost it pretty quickly simply because he was a useless leader, as that quote more than hints at. He also spoke very poor English and was a rather effeminate bisexual who spent a lot of time courting the lassies as well as the lads. I certainly don't hold that against him, but the truth is that he wasn't really interested in becoming King, being more interested in leading the good life. In fact had his father, the Old Pretender, not pushed him, he would probably never have come here. It's for this reason that I find songs like The Skye Boat song a tad nauseating.
I agree, in fact Flora Macdonald who rowed Charlie over the sea to Skye ended up in Charleston America, and fought on the English side.......... just a wee aside for you re Skye boat song
We-e-ell, don't be in too much of a hurry to believe all that. Charles was brought up speaking English as a first language. As for his sexuality, history only records him as having affairs with women, so I don't know where that one came from. And he wasn't even bothered wi the lassies until after the retreat from Derby, he was focussed on the rising. You know the Skye Boat Song, obvs, (and I find it a bit maudlin, too) so you'll know the line 'the lad born to be King'. That's the key to his personality. He was born, brought up and trained to be a warrior prince and a king. And that's how he saw himself. It was his failure to realise this that led to his downhill spiral later.
@@RebelHand Warrior Prince ? Well whoever brought him up needs a good kick in the nuts He was a wee nyaff and Why on God's green earth the Highlanders even entertained him is a mystery to me. I'd have punted his effeminate wee arse back across the sea well away from Skye !!
@Steely1888 Yes indeed mate I do, He is a Hero also The first True Jacobite. I was last up at Blair Castle in June 2010 showing all the honours of Murray and Dundee to my gf and paying our respects to Dundee. How I wish LGM made it home to Blair instead of resting in Holland. God Bless both men, Hero's
Dunno - it might have been better if the French had sent a cadre of French or French-Scots/Irish senior officers, and the Prince had left strategy and tactics to them... the 45 needed the Wild Geese, not just the quixotically brave Irish Picket.
@boabstewart No Offence Intended to anyone! lol! Its just when my Gran first took me to see them, I was the youngest in the crowd by a mile, much like the kids seen in this video! Such a shame that more younger people don't get into music like this.
@Steely1888 Scotland has always sufferd the quisling and always will no doubt. However things look better now than at anytime since Our Hero King won our independence that we may have it again. Dont lose heart Alba gu Brath

Lyrics
Wha will ride with Gallant Murray
Wha will ride with Geordie's sel?
He's the flower of a Glenisla
And the darling of Dunkel
See the white rose in his bonnet
See his banner o'er the Tay
His good sword he now has drawn it
And he's flung the sheath away
Every faithful Murray follows
First of heroes, best of men
Every true and trusty Stewart
Blythly leaves his native glen
Athole lads are lads of honour
Wstland rogues are rebels a'
When we come within the border
We may gar the Cambells claw
Menzies, he's our friend and brother
Gask and Strowan are nac slack
Noble Perth has ta'en the field
And a' the Drummonds at his back
Let us ride with Gallant Murray
Let us fight for Cherlic's crown
From the right we'll never sinder
Till we bring the tyrants down
Macintosh, the gallant soldier
With the Grahams and Gordons gay
They have ta'en the field of honour
Spite of all their chiefs could say
Point the musket, bend the rapier
Shift the brog for Lowland shoc
Scour the durk and face the danger
Macintosh has all to do.
They were great in the Star.
