Yes it's not cheap for most things in the supermarket but the cigarettes are just $1.30 for a packet of 20 Imperial Tobacco.
The rum is cheap at $0.70c for a 25cl bottle and beer is reasonable at the same price for a 65cl bottle so it's not all high prices.

Ambatoloaka is the area you need the is a lot of hotels to choose from. I would book the Ambatoloaka Hotel for one night then look for a perfect hotel for the rest of my trip. I don't know the names of the hotels

I've never bought any although I do plan to, I believe that it should all be pretty good quality as its grown in the area, 300,000 a kg it the right price rivo or lagasy should be able to help you if not I'm back tomorrow night I will help you find some.
Check the airport allowance, I think its 1kg max but could be 2 kg
