I watch a lot of cigar related videos and find your approach very refreshing. It seems too many reviewers feel the need to inject their own personal “spin” and peculiarities, most of which I find tiresome and annoying. Thanks for the straightforward delivery.
A significant benefit of the new design is that these humidors can now be stacked vertically should additional storage be desired without incurring any increase in terms of the total footprint.
@@iamintractable1805 huge downfall is that light is going to degrade cigars unless your storing the hunidor in a closet or put a cloth over it, but who wants to do that
Just picked one up on sale from JRcigar. It looks nice, heavy cedar smell, and overall well worth the $127 I paid after using a coupon. The only two complaints I have are minor blemishes in the edges due to production issues and how the lid fits. On one side the lid lifts up very easy but the other side is so tight it lifts the entire humidor trying to open it, even when full of cigars. I believe this is due to dimensions vs the magnet strength. Would still buy again at that price but definitely not over $150.
Northwoods has taken over the boveda acrylic humidor project. Bought one recently, and it holds the humidity better than what you have mentioned here in this video. I'm thinking they made slight adjustments and improvements. There was no actual smell. I dont see any glue issues, so I'm quite satisfied with my Northwoods Acrylic HUmidor by Boveda. Do a review on the new one. I'm sure you'll see noticeably that they made slight improvements.
Have you heard of H&H humidors? I bought an acrylic humidor from them through Amazon. It’s the prisma collection clear humidor. I’ve it had for a year and it keeps my humidity level 66-71. I actually use for my opus x collection & I have no issues with it.
Hmmm... Excellent review thank you. I live in Australia where literally everything to do with cigars is just difficult. However, I have purchased a number... 5 actually, of the Prometheus wooden humidors. The Boveda packs (65%) are lasting me at least 12 months (with the cost of cigars in Australia I am not a big smoker so the humidors are being accessed probably once a week or so.) I have had no issues with them at all and they are beautiful scattered throughout the home. I have seen many of these Boveda Humidors in varying homes in KL, Singapore and Dubai... Interesting... they do look rather nice in the right, contemporary, styling. Your review is very much appreciated... Have you done anything on the Prometheus line-up?
Actually this is a great idea especially if you are a gifting kind of person when you are at any event. Open. It pull it out and let them choose easier
I don't understand why that would be a bad thing to use one tray as it imparts cedar into the cigars a person would be storing when people use wood humidors that are lined with cedar inside & contain one or two trays. I've been watching a channel where a guy builds custom humidors that are 100% made of cedar from the outside to the inside. I'm genuinely curious about a possible new movement against using too much cedar. Did I miss something?
Sometimes the wooden humidors are more ART thаn science, then some of the modern acrylic humidors, where there is more science than art. SO TRUE SO TRUE
This would be very easy to pickup some faux fine wood stickers and just wrap the base and leave the lid clear for display. Im also considering fun translucent colors like all the Nintendo and Apple products in the 90s.
Too expensive. I'm going to use my old pickle jars, (the ones that don't smell like pickle anymore). I have a new delivery of seven five packs coming. What I want to know is if I should cut the top of the packs off but otherwise keep them in the packages.
That has to be referring to the actual Boveda humidity packs used to regulate the humidity inside the humidor. They can easily be swapped out when needed. I use the packs inside my coolidor, and I usually swap out packets about once a year.
@@jondough7823 I know.. I use them too.... It's just the article I read about the best acrylic humidors pros and cons, it says Boveda humidor only good for one year... And that's under cons....so that's why I was questioning it... The Boveda packs just swap them out who cares.. those shouldn't be under cons... Understand what I mean??
@@joek1978atyahoo Yeah, I understand what you are saying! Do you mind sharing the site where you read that? My guess is that it was just worded poorly. Of course the humidity packs will have to be swapped out occasionally, but I would imagine the actual acrylic box would last a lifetime.
I'm ready to buy this humidor today. However, they've been out of stock forever with no updates on when new humidors will be available. Thanks HW for the always excellent review.
That "glue residue" is probably the cedar's natural resin weeping out from the wood and it can occur at any time. Alcohol will remove it without staining the timber.
i like the all acrylic version better. if you are unlucky enough to develop mold, you could just wash the old one out. the new one would be pretty much ruined.
100%. I've got myself a few Xtra large Rubbermaid Tupperware boxes, boveda packs and cedar dividers/sheets. Works a treat. Didn't cost more than 60 bucks.
Are you sure its not sap? I have seen cedar with sap stains. Not saying it cannot be glue, and I agree that tray should not have passed QC. Also, you make too much of the seasoning. I did not season, I put the three packs in and went forward. Most cigars ship in cedar so you are way too picky to say the cedar will change the taste. Takes years. Also aesthetics is meaningless in this case once stacking was possible. Especially from a sales perspective.
Why wouldn't Boveda just throw a couple humidity packs inside and seal it up in packaging? This way, it is being seasoned while it sits on the shelf waiting to be purchased. That said, I would never buy this. For $500, I can buy a Cigar Cooler and several tupper containers to throw inside that cooler. This is how I store my cigars at home. I use the thermo-electric cooler with shelves to control temp, and then I have a bunch of tupper containers inside that have Boveda packs inside them, with my cigars and a few Spanish Cedar sheets inside the tupper. This way, my cigars are temp controlled and RH controlled without having to stress over maintaining RH throughout the unit.
Because there is no telling how long it will sit on a shelf. It comes with 3 60g packs. I wish they would sell without and lower the price as I dont use the 69% that is included. I use 65%.
@@iamintractable1805 I had this issue as I smoke cubans I got hold of boveda and asked why there's no option on the packs it comes with they said 69% covers all types as a middle ground but that's to high for my intended use of ageing cubans so they sent me out some packs
200 bucks for a plastic shoe box, come on boveda, I have 4 of these I put together from Amazon for less money. Really thinking of other options trying not to give a cent to this company, humidification packs from other companies is a start.
Why would someone go with this over just getting their bags. For less then half the price you can just use the bag system. Neither look great so I don’t see why you would chose this over that.

cool humidors but way to expensive for what you get, it just feels like an expensive tupperdor
A significant benefit of the new design is that these humidors can now be stacked vertically should additional storage be desired without incurring any increase in terms of the total footprint.
This is the KEY improvement. I have 4 nicely stacked. The only issue is the feet are a but clingy.
@@iamintractable1805 huge downfall is that light is going to degrade cigars unless your storing the hunidor in a closet or put a cloth over it, but who wants to do that
Personally I got mine wrapped by an automobile shop. Left the lid clear. Looks cool.
When mine comes in. It will be stored in a dark closet...
That's not glue it's resin seeping out of the cedar which can happen for decades. It just means that Boveda used cheaper unseasoned cedar...
I’ve got this humidor, I’ve had it for about a year now, I really like it, people always say and I agree it looks cool in my living room.
Wow, what a great video. This guy is instantly likeable and I feel comfortable making my decision based off of his comments.

If it was glue couldn’t you lightly sand it off?
Ehhhh not sure about this. Looks cheap but kind of cool I guess being see through. Pricey for some plastic and some cedar with a “B” on it.

It is not difficulty it is most likely price point to make the acrylic tray.
It holds what? 60 cigars give or take?
I need something much bigger than that!
Ok, so buy something else.
Any plastic smell?

No
No, none. I washed them once with dish soap/water and let them dry thoroughly.
The cedar is very fragrant, which is very nice.
Whoa, I'm from Minnesota and my diction is perfect! lol
$200 seems a bit much for plastic.
at this point you should get a tubber ware container and mod it,
I like the look of these cases so and the built in tray, I am not thinking about the price. I have also managed to get the well below MSRP.
