Dan, thanks for some very useful, real world comparisons on these broadheads. All the cardboard, ballistic gel, etc data is also interesting; but where the steel meets the flesh is what really matters!
Was hoping Dan Evans and the Canyon Pounder would get a shoutout here! Appreciate the desire for verticals, but hard to beat the Option-ality and the high quality build. Love the channel, Dan. Keep it rolling!
Mega meat is an amazing broadhead. I’ve shot seven Whitetail here in Texas. If you search mega meat Monday on TH-cam shorts. That’s my trophy buck , thanks for all you do keep hunting Texas
Thanks Dan for your testing and sharing, I’ve been bow hunting since the middle ‘80’s and test all broadheads etc. as well, just my opinion and great find has been the qad exodus!! Just can’t beat them… 7 elk full pass through sup to 83 yds and literally dozens and dozens of big Texas hogs that are much thicker skin than elk! Love to see you test them and review!! Love your stuff!!
the entry holes on those BEAST broadheads is really impressive for a mechanical. Like you said, usually you get a small entry and then the wings open up inside and create damage, but those entries looked mighty wide.
Good review man! I switched to Xecutioner 125gr hybrids two years ago and have been impressed.. Have a look at them if you get a chance. Many people don't like the shallow blade angle, but I'm here to tell ya they work..
Hey Dan. I used a 100 grain Mega Meat this year to get my very first Buck and it did a awesome job. Massive entry hole. Internal organs came out the other side. Blood trail was extremely easy to follow. All in all, I was impressed as hell with the broadhead. Thought it would be great input for you. Good luck with future hunts.
My problem with Sevrs is they will pop the rubber bands in the quiver! Especially during spot and stalk situations. I prefer the grim reapers or deadmeats for expandables
Heat one up with the practice screw in and you’ll open the quiver hole perfectly so it doesn’t open when putting your arrow in the quiver. Just make sure you do the orientation the same on each arrow hole
Definitely think dialed fixed the durability issues! I dropped my bow out of my stand it hit a limb, I did a thorough inspection to make sure nothing happened to the bow. Took a stump buster arrow and shot it at 25yds and was on. Shot a doe 15 min later. Once home I rechecked everything and the axis’ were perfect! Not many other sights could probably handle that.
Great video as always new to bow hunter I gravitate to your channel and the boys channels you guys give real world advice and set up that work for hunting not just foam
I got the same Sevr 2.0 ferrule going on its 6th deer next try. Pulling 70 plus pounds and pass through everytime and it’s lock tighten on the arrow due to a counter clockwise spin. I just change the blades out everytime and it’s ready to go with the pierce tour
What’s happing with bowmar I keep seeing comments and vids saying that he was convicted with some stuff I don’t knew the full story I keep seeing cuts and they still don’t post it
I also believe that the dial lights are kind of dull too without the site. At least in my opinion hard for me to see unless I have my sight on my light on I mean but it is what it is. I like to be able to control my pin gap too, so I'm probably switching up sites here. Thanks for all the great info. Dan
Excuse my ignorance, but what does ABT stand for? I’m new to your channel and loving it so far! So many helpful tips and reviews. I shoot a Hoyt bow, black eagle rampage, FOCS, and Magnus blackhornet broad heads, 497gr. Love my setup 💪🏼
Really wanna try those beast heads. If they made a titanium version, that would put them in the running for the best mechanical head ever designed I think. I think if they made a 1.5” version, that would be killer too.
Dan, thanks again great vid. I'm totally interested in the Breast Broadhead. Very intriguing. Just waiting for Bowmar to get them back in stock. I love my CBE Micro 3v. What a sight! Micro tuning, easy to sight in, very, very light and very bright in low light. Oh and half the price of the UV Slider. That says a lot since I love my Triple Stack - but it just was too heavy!
The beast looks like a Rage trypan but with Bowmar's name on it and couple years after. The Trypan NC also has a titanium ferrule though. I got a pass through on a whitetail buck at 33 yards this past year with the trypan and I chunked out part of a rib bone on the entry. The entry and exit holes were massive. Also use grim reaper expandables.
If Black gold comes out with a triple track it’s an immediate purchase for me. I’m stuck with the dual track because no one else makes an adjustable pin sight in vertical. Hopefully soon.

7:00 that shot is high AF. Don't get me wrong I'm glad you got that deer. Artery? I hit booner that high this year at 10 yards I found him the next day chasing does where I couldn't pursue him. Had a couple more encounters with no shot opportunities. I was using a rage.
Probably won't happen to be honest - my draw length is short, I shoot heavy poundage... but... my wife, maybe I can get her back out bowhunting next season, she shoots a 55# Prima.
Dan, you should consider testing the deadmeats rather than the mega meat. Smaller cut but it’s steel and I would think it would penetrate better while still getting 2 inches of cut. I’m pretty sure that’s what Chris Bee shoots and he definitely puts deer on the ground.
You're off on your conviction about the small entry on the Swhacker, even though it'll give you the same entry as your Iron Will. I had a 2 1/2" entry hole on a mountain lion and last weekend I had an ENOURMOUS 4"+ entry hole on a javelina (extremely hard quartering.) I can send pics of both. Shoot them long enough and eventually you will have the same results.
I've been shooting the single bevel Ironwill heads since they came on the market, but man I have a hard time sharpening those tanto style tips. I tried every method, but I can't get a razor-sharp point, and I usually end up screwing up the tip angles. Do you have a method that works for you?
I really don't get how you can complain about the Spot Hogg Triple Stack being big and bulky but not the UV3XL. I've had both and the Triple Stack seems smaller and sleeker, and the pins are much brighter and easier to adjust. It's worth the extra couple ounces of weight for me. Love my Tommy Hogg, but can't wait to get my hands on the new Boonie from Spot Hogg.
How far do you want your fixed pins set to? I have a double pin and if I set my top pin to 25 I can easily shoot to 40 with my second pin. I don’t have a 30 yard pin but it doesn’t seem to be an issue
I say work with one of the manufacturers and come out with an ElkShape edition broadhead. I know you've reached out to Iron Will, but if Bill doesn't want to do it, then it's time to move on. BTW, I think Spot Hogg came out with a lighter version of the Hogg Father.
I will never shoot the sevr again. Qad exodus is awesome! I will say you have to get them to fly! But they did great for me this year. So sharp cut spine in half on buck and pass through on doe this year
I don't think it is too graphic. I mean it's like you said what happened man I would love to seem the blood trail but I get it. TH-cam probably would not give you as much playtime or some shit. I don't know how it works but I know they don't air blood
I have shot all those broadheads except the Beast. I agree with all Dans statements. I have found the same things. I keep an iron will in the quiver at all times. This year I had a mixed bag. 3 Mega meats, 1 iron will solid. 1 shwacker. … oh wait and a grim reaper micro hades. 😅
In my opinion, all of the sight housings today are way too long. That’s why they are so dark. Not enough light can get in. And $600??? Please no. That’s more than my new bow. No way would I spend that on ANY sight. Even if I had the money. One thing for all of you three guys. Show stuff that a regular guy can afford. All you show are things you have to be rich or famous to be able to afford. Show some regular guy rests, releases, sights. Less than $100 regular guy price. We all don’t have your money. I want a UV Hinge 2 release but can’t see spending $300 for it. I want the steel one. Just too expensive. I’m an old guy who used to compete and wants to just get out and shoot and maybe shoot some leagues or maybe a state shoot if I can get my old form back from 35 years ago. That release looks to be the one for me but I can’t buy it. So how about some reviews on regular guy stuff.

SWAT BROADHEADS ARE A LETHAL OPTION FOR 4 BLADE COC HYBRID BROADHEADS ETC.
My thoughts are if the vain holds it from getting through that perfect..and say that cuz the 30 yards it Flys after the pas through what did it do in that 30 yards ??? Nothing it's wasted energy...
Wasted energy is a thing to consider for bullets…..not even worth talking about in archery because the killing mechanism isn’t transfer of energy and/or shock.
@michaelcolthart4006 no really true. I was shooting vap tkos(6.7grs per pound of draw weight) and getting passthroughs where i stuck 3 inchs in a fallen log behind a buck i shot but my pins gaps weren't tight or forgiving to miss ranging. Wasted energy. Now i dropped 90 grains arrow weight(5gr per pound of draw weight) but improved forgiveness by 45%. Nearly half the gap for all pins as before. Shooting 50yds and 70yds with just my 60yd pin produced at 30" arrow spread top to bottom with old arrows. New 90 gr lighter arrows are a 16" spread top to bottom. I took my excess energy and created nearly double the forgiveness to miss ranging. This only benefits western hunters though that shoot over 40 yds. Its a waste for whitetail hunters.
Yes your right but ya kinda missed what I was saying ..I'm just saying that why shoot 30 yards after the pass through when you can run a bigger cut and maybe only go through 10 yards after .... and yes anything after it goes through is wast ... the hole point is to cause damage to the animal not a log or the air behind it... but he showed it well from both points in this video..side note I don't hunt elk I hunt whitetails...but the concept is the same ...
@@chrismacomber9727good point! Better to use your excess energy that can be used for extra cut for whitetail and more forgiveness for western hunters versus wasting it digging deeper in the ground, air or trees behind.
The fact that you don’t have trifecta broadheads on there is laughable. We all know lusk archery is one of the most popular reviews channels on TH-cam for broadheads, and he has them top ranked. Run all the broadhead not just the ones who offer freebies.
Pretty sure in past episodes he mentioned he purchased his 6 Iron Wills. Maybe subs sent him some. All broadheads have pro’s and cons no matter any testing results. To say a certain head is laughable not to have, that can be said about many heads.
Bowmar could come out with depleted uranium head and I wouldn’t give it a second thought. I would rather get out of bowhunting than send money to that poacher. Good to see Dan will sell his soul to anyone that gives give him a dime.
I hope you're having an okay day bud! Since you wrote what you wrote - I did not get paid by any broadhead company to make this FREE YT video for you to watch. Just sharing my experience from the broadheads I chose to test in Texas. Thanks. -DS

The sharpest is the one I sharpen. I'll take a chinese knock off that I sharpen over a $20-40 broadhead ANY DAY.
You need to try annihilator XLs 3 blade fixed.
Didn’t he try them? Or was it the originals.
@@caninphx tbh I don’t think he has tried them at all. Unless I missed the vid.
@@austin_olsenhe was trying them 2/3 years ago
Bingo! I haven't tried their '24 offerings though, we'll circle back! Solid dudes and I have had them on my podcast years back. -DS
Yes your right but ya kinda missed what I was saying
..I'm just saying that why shoot 30 yards after the pass through when you can run a bigger cut and maybe only go through 10 yards after .... and yes anything after it goes through is wast ... the hole point is to cause damage to the animal not a log or the air behind it... but he showed it well from both points in this video..side note I don't hunt elk I hunt whitetails...but the concept is the same ...
Laughable? ...I'm not laughing. Thanks for watching.
Bowmar could come out with depleted uranium head and I wouldn’t give it a second thought. I would rather get out of bowhunting than send money to that poacher. Good to see Dan will sell his soul to anyone that gives give him a dime.
Ya I don't really get supporting poachers...
I hope you're having an okay day bud! Since you wrote what you wrote - I did not get paid by any broadhead company to make this FREE YT video for you to watch. Just sharing my experience from the broadheads I chose to test in Texas. Thanks. -DS
@@ElkShape I’m having a great day, and thank you for the correction on why you tested the poacher broad head. I apologize for my inaccurate assumption. I hope that head has more integrity than the business owner.
This guy man who cares
